Actually i would have hooked it even lighter . Making it easier to get of the hook . Fish like it barely hooked . Also the hook is not hidden in the bait and essentially not hindering the hookup. This technique is so underated and so few are willing to even try .
Carp are freshwater fish and redfish live in the saltwater and brackish water. But if you threw a chunk of carp in front of redfish I would be surprised if they didn't eat it. If it smells like food they'll eat it generally.

I’ve caught various different species using this technique here in Puerto Rico
I've seen a lot of fish caught on cut bait in Costa Rica too.
Saludos desde Virginia.
It's a fantastic technique!
Actually works quite well for me as well with all sorts of species. And a much quicker and aggressive bite
Good video bro
Thanks for watching!
What pound test for line and leader were you using?
20lb PowerPro braid and 30lb Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon Leader
what size/brand hook is that if you can remember
I believe that is a croaker hook not a circle hook. Or am I wrong?
It is a big circle hook!
I use shrimp……
Everything eats a shrimp!
I do this with bluegill for all manner of fish
Nice!
Leaving the scales on the hook increases hook up ratio by 90%
It actually decreases hook up ratio. The scale will prevent the hook from sticking to the fish's mouth costing you bites
@@Saltstrong it costs you fish not bites and it’s crazy how you didn’t pick up on the sarcasm 😂
They sharpen hook point for you haha
Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Wow. It works
Why no weight?
I'm suprised your chunk of mullet even stayed on the way you hooked it.
That's how you should rig the mullet chunks!
@@Saltstrong o.k...
got it.
Barely hook the mullet chunk ...like a chump!

Is carp good cut bait?

Agreed^^
Yeah if you can see the fish.
This is what salt strong has come to? Telling folks to use fresh dead when it gets tough, sad, very sad.
