  • Victron Generator Autostart is an advanced system designed to automatically start and stop a generator in response to power demand. It is a great solution for off grid systems or areas with unreliable power supply.
    Some features explained:
    * Automatic Start/Stop: The Victron Generator Autostart System can automatically start/stop your generator based on your power needs. It can detect when your battery bank voltage drops below a certain level and start the generator to recharge the batteries.
*Multiple Triggers: The system can be triggered by several inputs, such as low battery voltage, high battery usage, or even a specific time of day. You can customize the settings to suit your needs.
*Remote Monitoring and Control: The system can be remotely monitored and controlled using the VictronConnect App. This allows you to monitor your power usage and control your generator from anywhere in the world.
*Safety Features: The Victron Generator Autostart System has several safety features built-in, such as low oil pressure and high-temperature shutdown. This ensures that your generator will not be damaged due to an emergency shutdown.
*User-friendly Interface: The system is easy to install and use. The interface is user-friendly, and the system has a manual that guides you through a setup process. Highly suggested to use the manufacturer’s guide and instructions as well.
The Victron Generator Autostart, with its unique features, is a must-have for anyone looking to optimize their power supply.

Please can you assist.we have a victron quattro with a 13.5 kva generator. We then changed out the generator to a better quality 15 kva generator.
When the generator is starter manualy the inverter latches the generator and then drops it out..The installers of the victron tells me its because of unstable herts...But checked and it all looks stable. Can you please tell me what specs ia the victron looking for from the generator to be happy?

They have a very wide range of hertz. When you start the generator. Go into the Multiplus on your color screen and see what happens. And is is hard wired? I have had seen issues before with plugs before. And if the box is ticked in the inverter to accept a wide range its 45-65 hertz they will accept.

Exactly what I needed to know.... Thanks Mike for another great honest and informative video. Just sent you an email with a system enquiry. Cheers :)

Are you running floating neutral generators keeping the only ground neutral link in the system right at the inverter?

It all depends. Most of the guys remove the RCD from the generator and some don't. We have found the RCDs on the generator trip a lot when it's raining.

Thanks for getting back. Do you have personal email contact? As an installer in NZ I could use some advice from time to time, you have more experience than me and you are always learning in this game. Could you do a video on ground neutral bonding in a system with a generator back up using 2x multiplus II inverters in parallel? There is potentially a ground neutral bond in the generator, each inverter and a main distribution box if people aren't aware of this side of things which is common even with qualified electricians. That would be a great video. Loving your channel 👍

Is the the load applied to the generator the instant it starts or can there be a programmed delay to let the generator warm up before the load is put on the generator?
