Iran is a wrestling powerhouse. Despite that, Jordan Burroughs had not lost to an Iranian wrestler for over a decade until this loss at the 2022 World Cup.

As an Iranian, I'm glad Ali broke the long held spell. But JB is so respected and popular among millions of Iranians as he wrestles beautifully and that's all that matters to us.

I love how our governments will tell us to hate one another, yet here we see such sportsmanship among athletes.

Did anyone else notice when the match ended and as the Iranian was walking back to his corner , the Iranian coach pointed his finger towards the American corner reminding him to show restpect to the American coach as well!

Ever since I was a kid and saw how the Iranian wrestling community treated Dave Shultz(rest in peace) I’ve admired them- wrestling is ancient sport🙏🏼

As an American I will say unfortunately we have lost our sense of Community and its refreshing to see Iran come together the way they did. Iranians are good people

My dad traveled Iran in the 60s and loved it. He said the people were so warm and invited him into their homes. Too bad our politics don’t let us know each other as people.

Pretty cool to see the Iranians clapping for Burroughs after the match. I had a co-worker who wrestled for the US in Iran. He said he’s never been treated so good in his life and had nothing but praise for the Iranian people. They are a wrestling crazy nation. I wish them luck in their struggle for freedom.

Wrestling is the true national sport of Iran. Goes back in history. They have had loads of talent for generations.

While I’m not a big follower of the sport, I know enough that Iranian Wrestlers are some of the best in the world and to be respected for their dedication and hard work. The fact that JB was able to compete toe to toe with these Iranian Wrestlers for a decade truly shows his skill in the sport. Truly one of the few areas where USA 🇺🇸 and Iran 🇮🇷 can respect themselves as humans just trying to do their best.
