      I agree it would turn into a boring ride out and if you went by NCAA rules riding time would apply but it's too slow, folk style, that is. If you recall these rules of 1 point push-outs, 1 point passivity / shot clock, and if tied score at regulation then whoever scores last or whoever scored on moves that had higher points wins for all meant to speed the game up and favor the offensive wrestler, and it was also meant to make it more interesting so that wrestling would not be cut from the Olympic games

      Bc Chamizo had control of the center. He made it appear, by taking control of the center, that he wasn’t being passive. By constantly pressuring Jordan to the edge, Jordan couldn’t look anything but passive.

    • @jsl8461
      @jsl8461 Před 3 lety

      Not sure if you're familiar with FS passivity calls, they are very nuanced.
      In the first period, Frank took a deep shot (around 0:44), put himself in a bad position, and scored. JB took two shots but he let go the moment he felt it wasn't right. On one of the shots (1:46) Frank tried to counter by getting hip-to-hip which is a very high risk move, and JB immediately let go. Finally, in the second minute JB was starting to let Frank control the center, which is usually viewed as passive; not only is it easier to defend when you don't pressure in and circle away from the opponent's tie-ups, it's also easier to defend a 2 point takedown by stepping out and sprawling hard, reducing the score to 1 point. The refs are always going to reward the guy who is willing to take risk (ie, control the center, get hip-to-hip, dig for underhooks, get extended on a shot but keeps wrestling, get stuck in a front headlock but keeps wrestling, etc), and JB definitely did not take any risks compared to Frank.
      In the the second period, the refs made the unusual decision of putting JB on a second shot clock even after he had earned a point in the first 10 seconds. Probably not the call I would have made given that there were already 3 points on the board, and Frank had been interlocking fingers while JB was generally keeping his hands open (grabbing fingers is a major sign of passivity). But I can see their rationale too. JB had spent almost two minutes circling on the outside, which is a really long time. Obviously he was hoping to save his energy for one big sprint towards the end of the match, hoping to win with a 3-2 score and Frank wouldn't have enough time to rally back.

    • @jsl8461
      @jsl8461 Před 3 lety

      @@wakyzaky45 Frank was controlling the leg, so no takedown. I posted this elsewhere but I'll repost it here for your reference:
      "That was definitely was not a takedown for JB, Frank had the leg. I use this position a lot, it's actually pretty dangerous position for the "top" guy because that leg control makes it easy for the bottom guy to turn him if the top guy makes the mistake of pressuring in. JB was wise to that trick, so he balanced himself away (to his right) to avoid that and also captured an ankle. Frank took advantage of the space to hit a switch to his left, which forced JB to pressure back in and close off space to defend. Frank then changed directions to the right to stand up out the back door. Since JB was now tight to him, Frank easily elevated him up, and he grabbed JB's lat and pulled downwards while running forwards, just like a standing shoulder throw. Amazing transitions all around. If that was anyone other than JB, I think most opponents would have been planted flat on their back.
      That being said, when I first watched this sequence, I was surprised by the step out call. I thought that should have gone in Chamizo's favor. But when I re-watched I realized they were on the ground when Frank's leg stepped out, they weren't standing, so the ref made the right call.
      Note that JB's coach didn't bother challenging it."

    I'm just going to say what I saw and heard. From the sounds of the crowd, it seems like they have a heavy bias against Burroughs. Only 5-10 seconds after they start wrestling against, and each time you hear people yelling loudly "RED PASSIVE", even though Chamizo is only trying to push Burroughs out of bounds. Looks like the ref caved in to the yelling almost each time too. Burroughs wasn't being passive; just let both of these men wrestle, and if there is negative wrestling, then you call passive (not when you hear the crowd yelling getting louder).

    Refereeing needs improvement, but I like that he stayed aggressive with passivity. Refs should never have focus on a single athlete and it did show here. There was a poor judgment call at the match start in which resulted in Burroughs being forced to chase points. USA could of thrown a challenge brick. Also, this is freestyle wrestling and not sumo wrestling. I really would like to see some change in our international rules with it. Chamizo and others expose this and it’s not fulfilling to watch as a former athlete and fan. Also, Burroughs needs more practice on this mat type. He wasn’t comfortable with his feet catching on it.

      Так этот проход он делал отменно, благодаря своей коронке он добился больших успехов, но его арсенал оказался немного скудным для конкуренции на самом высоком уровне. Сейчас одного прохода недостаточно для того чтобы конкурировать за первое место, соперники(начиная с Царгуша) уже давно подстроились на его манеру проведения боя!
