  • The splitboard is taking the mountain community by storm! This relatively new form of shredding has been on my todo list for years. I'm so stoked that I'm already basically the best at it. So excited for the places this amazing tool will take me. This is a story about trying something new. It's okay to be a beginner. Actually, if you're able to forget about your ego - being a beginner is one of the most fun parts.

      Yeah probably cause his camera setup gear costs like over $10k

    • @KramerJunction
      @KramerJunction Před rokem +3

      @@dhalohol yup, when you buy nice gear, it automatically shoots and edits great video, you literally have to do nothing. It’s crazy how technology works, the simple act of owning gear gives you good content, no skill needed lol
      Don’t even know why people try to make content, they should just put piles of gear together and let it magically happen.

    • @dhaloh
      @dhaloh Před rokem

      @@KramerJunction What are you even on about? It's obvious that people who have good gear most of the time will have better video and audio quality than those with worse gear. I have worked in media, producing high quality videos and you just can't get the clip looking "cinematic" and amazing without blowing some serious cash on gear. To light up the subject you need lights. You can opt in for some LED lights that are on the cheaper side but it's still going to cost you like 300-500 EUR for the whole light setup. For the mic, you're probably going to need a lav mic if you're recording someone talking, which if you want it to be high quality and wireless runs around 200-300 EUR. Then of course let's not forget a regular mic that you would attach to your camera to record regular footage, as the built-in mics are usually bad quality. That's about 100-200 EUR. And the camera? This guy uses a 3,000+ EUR camera. If you look up the footage people have taken with it, it just naturally looks good. Oh and, don't forget about the lenses which can get very expensive quick, usually starting from 300 EUR. And you need multiple lenses if you really want to push the quality of your videos and produce footage that doesn't all look the same.
      With a cheap camera and bad lighting you will get grainy footage and probably won't even have the log setting so colorgrading won't be as effective. And without a camera stand, gimbal, etc. your footage will be shaky, which you will probably try to fix in post but as you have a cheap camera the footage will be HD or FHD which means that when you will fix the shaky footage, it will make the clip look even worse and decrease the quality as it upscales the image.
      Don't be one of those guys that says "gear doesn't matter", cause it does. It oh so does.
      The guy is obviously also good at video editing and works in the industry but don't dismiss gear.

    I had my split cherry popped in march, while on spring break in Oregon. Someone I met on the lift, rode with and then shared some beers with offered to take me out the next day. He was 6'6" and I'm 5'10" so I was riding his 169cm solution, plus my size 10 boots were swimming in his bindings, that fit his size 14(?) feet - but it didnt matter. We skinned the bootpack from the top of the highest lift at Mt. Hood, then rode the 3000ft down the parking lot. It was one of the most transformative days of my life and I've been on marketplace at least once a day since then. I'm a college student on the east coast, so if and when I pony up for a set up I'll be ripping resort laps for the near future. Thanks for the realistic yet beautiful portrayal of stoke! Yeww!

      I'm curious who do you get on since? I always wanted to try surfing as an ultimate sport (no ski lifts, no fares, no expensive gore-tex gear) but after a couple of seasons I fell out with it. In reality it is very dependent of where and when and keeping up the amazing swimming form throughout the year which is almost impossible.

Always something to learn. Your production is down to earth and realistic for a beginning splitboarder. Well done.

      Been out there all spring. Can't believe how much I've been missing out on all these years.
      The setup is unreal. By now I've done long tours in my hardbboots and on a traditional soft setup and for uphill I FAR prefer mine. Downhill was funky until I got Phantom link levers. Now that I'm used to the feel I barely notice a difference. Highly, highly recommended.

    you can turn down the price quite much if you are willing to DIY some stuff or just buy second-hand goodies.
    especially for the board, bindung and poles it doesn't really make a difference whether it has some scratches or not since you will damage it anyways sooner or later. these things either work or they don't, not a lot of wiggle room for major problems you don't spot right away.
