We're pushing ourselves to make distance in the boat to get to the boatyard, we're tired and we're in a rush! It's not quite so fun anymore... We wouldn't usually do this, but we have places to be!! We tackle Foxton Locks and then carry on with the next leg of our journey with more locks the next day! ...........but we love it all really 😉

It's midnight in Chiang Mai, but I don’t mind, 'cos I'm wide awake watching my favourite Narrowboaters. I bang the _Like Button_ immediately and settle down for my bedtime story 😊
I must say that I'm constantly amazed at Alan's ability to understand that Home is a moving object, and she can nick off for a 5 minute pee or check out the swans nests when they're not looking, then scamper back home _while its slowly moving towards the Locks!_ all the while remaining calm as if this is a perfectly normal feline lifestyle.
My cats would freak out if the house moved (we do get the odd earthquake here 😢).

A really well summed up comment! Also I’m endlessly amazed by how my cat manages to understand the same moving house concept, she’s been a house cat for the past decade, and would get lost on terraced housing streets after being out for 5 minutes. Not street wise at all. Boat life is now her retirement and amazingly she just gets it. Didn’t think a older cat could learn these things but she has just taken to it like a proverbial duck to water. 😺

Hi Its Debbie not david xx I love your channel I love everything about it, I also love the way that Alan is not at all bothered where you are and how she just jumps off and has a look round and then wanderes back on she always knows where the boat is. She is one clued up puddy cat she is the star of the show. Have you ever thought of a papouse rather than a back pack have her on your front you could try a large scarf she might like it being able to see your face. I thought the locks were brilliant, it is good there are helpers there to help you through, it would be blimmin hard wprk on your own. Thanks for a brilliant video looking forward to next weeks already thanks debbie not david xxxxx

Yup! Yelvertoft is in Northamptonshire. Marks the edge of the Danelaw - toft = village in ‘Norse’.

I think that was a Shire horse. My Dad used to be a horse keeper on a farm when I was a kid. I'm 87 now, so not completely sure. Maybe someone can say for certain.

Another great video by the two best people in the Canal Videos. For your trips back-and-forth to the van. Why don’t you buy a rack to go in the hitch receiver on the back so it would be easier to load your bike up for the trip back to the new location. Surely Benny sells enough albums. You could buy two or three of them. As always love all of your videos and look forward to your next one

Thats a fairly typical mooring on the K&A. Depending on your draught, you'll rarely be closer and often much further out. You may also need another plank, to extend over reeds etc. to get to terra firma.

Hello there good progress through the flight at Foxton great countryside around Leicester i lived there 1948 to 1965 went to secondry school in Wigston. Leicester is a great old town to explore lots of history. If you have time to go there and explore. You will go right through the center of the city and there is mooring there if you have CRT key. As you the approach the city lots of trash but then it clears up in the center of town. Alan is a cool cat who seems to know what you say and obeys you guys, ok stay safe and well see you next vlog Ed40 S of Vegas

Love watching your videos. They are so peaceful. It is years since we took a trip from Ripon to York and back with some friends. Now live up a mountain in southern Spain! I must just add that I love Benny's music, just can't decide who he reminds me of.Take care you two - and Alan of course. 🥰
The easy way to get off the silt when your stuck, is to use the engine, push the tiller hard over away from the bank and go hard ahead, this will push the stern into deeper water then back off into deep water and carry on !

Lol when you were talking about Alan helping you moor up we thought you were talking sarcastically about the cat ... then realised! Are you coming all the way down the Grand Union or going off down one of the other canals? We're making our way up the Grand Union shortly. :) Oh and Alan is so obedient ... we need lessons for our cat haha!

Good focus on Alan is this Vlog, she deserves centre stage. I agree with @BrassLock about Alans ability to go with the flow and that boating is second nature to her. I can understand Dogs taking to it real easy but cats have a mind of their own usually but she loves her cruising life and it shows.
One question I've been meaning to ask several times to several boaters is: In todays Vlog you temp moored in the rough for lunch so my question is, are you allowed to trim back foliage at all on the tow path edges to give you better access. ..... See you all next week.
