We had a tabby cat throughout our children’s childhood. Thomas rode free in the car, every weekend we went to our cottage in Suffolk. He was free to explore the countryside. Knew when we were packing to return home. Climbed all the trees in the orchard and had a ball living with us. Still miss him. Cats are clever, more clever than most people think.
Thank you both for taking us to visit such an amazing beautiful place. Alan is just so happy to be wherever you are and is so at home in the van. She's such a chilled out contented cat.

As a fellow vertigo sufferer, I really felt for Emily on the High Tor path!.....As I also suffer from claustrophobia, I got quite nervous in the lead mines!
Really loved this. I missed you, two, being together in your adventures, instead of on separate boats.

I feel for you Emily! I got stuck traversing Snowdon in my early 30s, I froze on the spot, my friend was having to uncurl my grip. I was hysterical. She wanted to carry on to the top. She asked this elderly couple in their 70s to help me down to the bottom. Super embarrassing 🤣 Well done on succeeding
When you were both in Starkholmes (apparently) lost… “you’re not lost, it’s right there!” Very brave to do the Giddy Edge when you have vertigo, well done! Can’t believe you stopped over where I have my office and I didn’t see you or your bright yellow van! Your £12 is to a worthy cause. The Pav isn’t a nightclub anymore, exciting things in the pipeline for it, I’ve just been appointed as Conservation Architect to the charitable trust that owns it. Tell Benny to walk up Bank Road, that’ll burn his sandwich off. Looking forward to the trip down Cromford Canal next week.

I was getting vertigo just watching! I get it looking down into our bath so well done Emily. Happy memories of Matlock as a boy.
I don't blame Emily one bit for feeling vertigo on that narrow path overlooking a steep drop. Even so, she demonstrated courage in spite of her fears. I probably would have crawled too. You conquered the High Tor of Derbyshire! Those Koi were a surprise to see. They're huge and must be quite old. Beautiful sunset. Love how Alan was purring when you were back in the van.
Wow! I feel for you, Emily. Been in a few tight spots where I have struggled with my fear of heights - path down to beach from North Cornish Coastal Path near Camborne (crawled back up); walk to the Dripping Rock along edge of the Achensee from Pertisau in Austria (readers of Elinor Brent-Dyer's the Chalet School books will know where I mean); steps up the Laxey Wheel on Isle of Man; crag fast on top ridge of Stac Polly north of Ullapool - bit into Mars Bar without removing wrapper, calmed down and ended up walking along top of ridge; top of Braeriach at 8pm keeping 100 metres away from edge but just knowing there was a 1,000 foot drop straight down into the Lairig Ghru was freaking me out; footbridge over the River Avon west of Tomintoul (it's now no more, unsurprisingly!).
Wow we always love your videos but it doesn’t go unnoticed that your filming and editing as come on from day 1 when we all went on your journey. I am 100% with you when it comes to heights. I have learned that when I get into a bad situation with heights I never look down, ALWAYS, look up, it does help. You guys make a sweet couple. Benny you are good for your lady.

My sister would sympathize with you Emily. I've walked her up towers and over swing bridges, with her close behind me. Occasionally "don't stop!" From behind. Or "stop" for her to wait for the vertigo feelings to settle, a bit.

You're very brave walking there, but maybe if you do that again, NEVER look down, just face the rocks.

It was a hard watch seeing Emily suffering her vertigo up on High Tors, glad you made it through to Matlock Bath.. been there a couple of times. Also been on that cable car up to The Heights of Abraham and into the caves there … also sampled the fish & chips down in Matlock Bath. Great episode and Alan Cam is still cute .. just like she is!

This my own County. Im to old to visit most of it now .But i spent younger years Walking all over it and Mountain biking in the Derbyshire Peak District. I absolutely Love Derbyshire. Ive Traveled all over Europe and the uk .but my heart is Derbyshire.

Ah Matlock and Matlock Bath, my favourite places as a child. I’m originally from Sheffield.though I now live in Cleethorpes.I’ve never been up High Tor ( I’ve been under it on the train)and I’d have vertigo too on that path. There used to be a miniature railway ( steam) at Matlock Bath, as well as one in Matlock itself. There’s also the petrifying wells.

I love Allen❣️She is such a trooper, a perfect road buddy😊 Good job Emily facing the fears, I was a psychotherapist for 30 years and can guarantee you you can overcome it by just what you did, desensitization. The trick is to not take on too much, but enough, each time. Eventually you have overcome.Bless you guys!💫

What an interesting journey. You guys live in an almost magical place, especially with Benny's music as the soundtrack. Speaking of which, that lead mine area looks like it would be a fantastic spot to do some really interesting recording for music. You have to somehow include Alan's purring in it in some way. This was an interesting break from being on the boat(s)!

I used to live in Matlock in the little cottage just inside the park next to the stream. I used to walk my dog over High Tor! I’ve only done Giddy Edge once though - once was enough!

OMG Emily as a fellow vertigo sufferer I feel your pain on that very scary path! I don’t think I could have stood on the edge like that! I live not far from there, in Ashbourne but I’ve never been to High Tor. Love the way you take Alan along on road trips, our cat likes coming on road trips and boat trips too. Loved the new harness, she’s not fat, she’s just fluffy😅! Can’t wait for next week when you visit my favourite bookshop, Scarthins, I am also looking forward to watching more road trips in your new bigger van. Take care, lots of love. xxxx

The new harness is much too small for poor Alan, you need to exchange it for a bigger one. We bought a post op cat recovery suit for our puss & put it on her but it was obviously too small despite observing the size advice given so she had to wear the cone of shame instead.
Awww poor puss! Yeah it's too small, it was the only size they had but it was used for that weekend only! Think we need a custom made one for her! 😸 x

Back in the day in me 20s 30s I done all the walks all over the country include there no issues, now I had to sit here flinching on me settee specially when the drone was heading fast towards the edge maybe issue a watch with danger notice to the video 😂 but lovely to see the areas again 👍🙂

Derbyshire is my home County. I spent the first 8 years of my life in a little village called Baslow ( main entrance to Chatsworth house)Been to Cromford and it is really interesting. VERY brave you Emily - I could never have done that pathway in a million years.Funnily enough we cruised the Llangollen in September and Pontcysyllte aqueduct I was fine (nervous/scared before but onit I was fine)

What a great video. Enjoyed that , I always enjoy watching but this was an area I had never seen and very different to others parts of the country. Just remember there's no need to be afraid of heights, after all if you fall you'll only be aware of it for 5 seconds. :) Looks like a great adventure sight, take those places in while you still can.

We love Matlock Batrh and have had many nice walks around the areas, also been on cable cars to top of Abraham Heights, but NEVER knew about High Tor, whicjh ki would love to do. We can pop to Mat;ock for a long weekend, so may do this soon, as plan a trip in Spring. Wwll done for doing the narrown pathway. Vertigo is no joke and i can sympathise. Great Vlog guys. Alan is So good.

that was an awesome Vvlog... My hubby has vertigo ever since he had a stroke about 10 years ago now, me I am fine think I might have hung over the edge there opps sorry lol. But Derbyshire does look very nice, I have only ever been to derbyshire to the Mercia marina.... so maybe next time we come back to the UK have to check out this walk..Thanks guys loved it.
