For being such an insanely consonant heavy language, Georgian is so smooth and rolls right off the tongue.
Most words have lots of CVCV syllables. It just got famous for having the long clusters

The “r” and “v” in Georgian sound very soft
@@bretlir R and V. :) Yes, it sounds. BUT, here is one thing. You hitted this two letters that has (especially V) three variety of pronounciation. You can say V like victor, it can be also sounded like amplyFYier and PF like pfui. R can be pronounced like soft. french R, hard, slavic R or throat R. But, for simplyfing every of these letters has special sign in alphabet.
@@007Ivory007 hit*. Sorry but "hitted" doesn't exist in English and the past tense of hit is just hit.
I'm a Georgian myself and... It's nice to understand something that a lot of people can't understand for a change. Whenever I see other people talking in their native tongues or even multilingual people talking about it, I sometimes think to myself: ''How are they even doing that?'' But seeing other people fascinated at Georgian people speaking Georgian and understanding every single bit of it feels special and even slightly weird at times :'>
Comgratulations.

Georgian is such an amazing language and it easily has the most beautiful writing system ever, it looks like something out of a fantasy book. Georgian traditional folk music, dresses and dances are also so freaking cool. Best regards from Sweden, would love to visit beautiful Georgia one day!
I agree! I memorized some of the letters, they're so beautiful
The letters are indeed one of the prettiest but to me it honestly looks like a south indiand script. Almost every sound Indian script looks similar to it. Anyways its still my 2nd favorite script. With Hebrew being my favorite script.

@@oranjinohana i'd love to know it as well, but I can barely speak my language + eng, I know that I will never learn, even if i put all the effort for it
Your sentence was perfect, but you need to use "chemo" instead of "chemi" when talking about groups of people. "Chemi" is only used when you are reffering to yourself.
Gamarjoba Sakartvelo! Greetings from the Czech Republic.
One of my favourite languages. I spent 2 weeks in Georgia taking a short language course and mostly only learned the alphabet, but always intended to move back and learn properly. Didn't work out of course.

That sounds like an old-fashioned and ineffective method for learning a language--i.e., starting with the alphabet and the writing system. You start with the SPOKEN language. The written language comes later. Think of how hampered you would be in learning Chinese if you first had to master characters!
@@cufflink44
Old-fashioned and ineffective? That’s how foreign languages are taught here in American high school.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465and that’s why no one actually learns from those
the georgian writing system is pretty logic afaik (havent learned it myself, just saying what Wikipedia says), but that also means the romanization scheme is really straightforward
Why so short? It's so hard to find the Georgian language spoken extensively on CZcams
Just type "Georgian tv" on search and hundreds of videos in Georgian will come up. Maybe thousands.

0:25 That syllable-timing tho.
Some parts almost sound French to me; I'm guessing I'm picking up on the syllable timing mixed with some back consonants.
This sounded like, to my ears, someone speaking american english with a french accent. Even the phrasing was similar to how a young american woman (not from the south) would talk. Because of this, my brain kept going "You can understand her if you try" and then I'd try and it was completely foreign. Cool language, sounds very smooth.

Is Mariam a super common name in Georgia? I've only known one Georgian in person (a classmate), and her name was also Mariam. Maybe just a coincidence.

Yes it's second most popular name, only eclipsed by Nino (Outside of Georgia Nino is a masculine name, but in Georgia it's feminine).
