      @@bretlir R and V. :) Yes, it sounds. BUT, here is one thing. You hitted this two letters that has (especially V) three variety of pronounciation. You can say V like victor, it can be also sounded like amplyFYier and PF like pfui. R can be pronounced like soft. french R, hard, slavic R or throat R. But, for simplyfing every of these letters has special sign in alphabet.

    I'm a Georgian myself and... It's nice to understand something that a lot of people can't understand for a change. Whenever I see other people talking in their native tongues or even multilingual people talking about it, I sometimes think to myself: ''How are they even doing that?'' But seeing other people fascinated at Georgian people speaking Georgian and understanding every single bit of it feels special and even slightly weird at times :'>

    My university friend in Sweden was Georgian.
    I was trying to teach her Kurdish, and she was trying to teach me Georgian. While she was learning Kurdish, I could never learn Georgian. Hahah, I love you Tamar❤️

    Georgian is such an amazing language and it easily has the most beautiful writing system ever, it looks like something out of a fantasy book. Georgian traditional folk music, dresses and dances are also so freaking cool. Best regards from Sweden, would love to visit beautiful Georgia one day!

      The letters are indeed one of the prettiest but to me it honestly looks like a south indiand script. Almost every sound Indian script looks similar to it. Anyways its still my 2nd favorite script. With Hebrew being my favorite script.

      Your sentence was perfect, but you need to use "chemo" instead of "chemi" when talking about groups of people. "Chemi" is only used when you are reffering to yourself.

    One of my favourite languages. I spent 2 weeks in Georgia taking a short language course and mostly only learned the alphabet, but always intended to move back and learn properly. Didn't work out of course.

      That sounds like an old-fashioned and ineffective method for learning a language--i.e., starting with the alphabet and the writing system. You start with the SPOKEN language. The written language comes later. Think of how hampered you would be in learning Chinese if you first had to master characters!

      the georgian writing system is pretty logic afaik (havent learned it myself, just saying what Wikipedia says), but that also means the romanization scheme is really straightforward

    Some parts almost sound French to me; I'm guessing I'm picking up on the syllable timing mixed with some back consonants.

      This sounded like, to my ears, someone speaking american english with a french accent. Even the phrasing was similar to how a young american woman (not from the south) would talk. Because of this, my brain kept going "You can understand her if you try" and then I'd try and it was completely foreign. Cool language, sounds very smooth.

      There are two Georgian alphabets. The church alphabet and the civic alphabet. The church alphabet looks like Armenian, which is logical as Georgian and Armenian churches were united until 6-7 centuries. The civic alphabet (mkhedruli) iz completely different

      Yes it's second most popular name, only eclipsed by Nino (Outside of Georgia Nino is a masculine name, but in Georgia it's feminine).

      @@Maleficarum999 just a doubt: how common are arab/arabized names in Georgia? I once found a georgian girl whose name was Zeinab, and it really got me curious since it's an arab name and I really never associated it with the Caucasus.

      @@marcelogoncalvesdocouto7288 Arab names are not common, Mariam is from hebrew and is popular because of Virgin Mary. The name Zeinab is not common in Georgia and haven't met a Georgian named Zeinab. Most probably she was turk/azeri or other muslim (chechen etc).

    I know its part of the Kartvelian family and not related, but to me it sounds vaguely Persian. It also reminds me of a fictional language: Valyrian. A few people are saying it sounds like Russian, but I really don't think it so.
