I hope someone told the mom that Darcy sent the flowers to Elizabeth. I cant imagine, as a mom, to show such blatant preference for one daughter over another.
In this case, Mrs. Bennet’s only thought was the flowers were meant for Jane. Jane had two suitors and to the best of Mrs. B’s knowledge the other girls had none. I suppose even if she was told the flowers were meant for Elizabeth, she would not have believed it.
