When you are suspended for any length of time as punishment, then it is unpaid. If you are on administrative leave then it is paid because it is an ongoing investigation and you are innocent until proven guilty, but they don't want you on the street for whatever reason. Suspensions are unpaid leave.

Uuugh. As a former EMT, this is exactly why I kicked cops off 90% of my scenes. They look for a reason to instigate. I didn't start out like that. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were there to help, but 9/10 they would make the patient so uncomfortable and even scared. Blatantly compromising their care when they're supposed to feel safe and trust me to open up about what's going on. Absolutely disgraceful.
I do have a question (if you don't mind); What *_CAN_* police officers do, to help EMTs that *may* need assistance with a patient? For example, Could they *(if asked to):* assist / help give medical aid or get something from the EMT Vehicle for the EMT worker & other things like that?
To be fair.... they could be incredibly understaffed. And instead of spending about $6500 (national average for training a new police officer) and waiting for that to be completed and go through a probationary period, they can just suspend her and put this in her file.

Most public Servants(Police, Teachers, sometimes Fire departments/EMT's) have Strong unions. Theres nothing that the department can actually do other than give paid leave or put notes on the record without risking a Massive controversy and being the next person fired.
