    I don’t think anyone that drives a modern diesel through a regen cycle and actually see how nasty Def is would consider them better for the environment. It’s obvious whoever came up with this stuff hates diesel’s and doesn’t drive them.

      Def is ammonia and water, mostly water. There’s nothing wrong with Def. It greatly reduces the need for EGR.

      @@tylermacconnell217 pretty corrosive either way. My truck doesn’t use enough to complain about other than the regens that burn diesel like a frat boy doing a keg stand. But it is nasty when I do deal with it. I would like to see what a good clean tune on a modern diesels with no emissions would do. I would bet it would have about the same emissions as what we have if the whole cycle was taken into consideration.

      @@tylermacconnell217 I stand corrected I had to add def yesterday evening and the pump had a leak. It ate the cerakote coating off of my black bed step. I cleaned it off immediately and could see every were it got on the step this morning. I thoroughly cleaned the step and reapplied the cerakote to it. Pretty nasty stuff. Pretty sure it’s not ammonia because thats the cleaner I had when it got on my step and it didn’t eat the coating off just the def.

      @@tylermacconnell217yess if it was so great, why don’t they do emissions testing while the truck is actually in regen mode? You know why? Because that would defeat the narrative. A good tuned diesel will run clean you don’t have to run around rolling coal everywhere.

    That gauge cluster also appears to be having the issue for which Ford has ordered their dealers to stop sale on models built between certain dates. The problem is with the gauge cluster dropping down below the dash trim, hiding portions of the gauge.

    An observation I've made when driving the 22 and up powerstroke is they give you all the beans in the first half of the pedal. Almost feels like it's programmed with a pedal monster/commander. The powerstroke does well no doubt but due to the pedal programing it feel stronger than it really is.

    You went up a short hill in town with 10k 🙈 pull 15k up a 6% grade for 6 miles. You did with the gasser and hit the brakes right before the climb and then went full throttle starting on a grade at 45 mph and then wondered why it only pulled it at 50 mph

  • @davecamilleri9411
    @davecamilleri9411 Před rokem

    The only way to actually judge the exhaust brakes on these trucks would be to do a test with the same trailer and load on the same road and use manual mode and match rpms while going down hill. With the 10 speeds, it would probably be equivilent to need to drop two gears to equal a one gear drop with the 6 speed. As far as how the trucks do in drive with brake applications or even with the grade braking in cruise control, you are judging the transmission programming and not necessarily the engine brake. I can tell you that several weeks ago I descended 9 miles of 7-8% grade with about 14k behind me, a flatbed trailer loaded with logs and a Jeep TJ that weighs 5500 lbs behind that and my 23 GMC Denali Dually was outstanding in manual mode, no brake applications at all and it is 100% down hill. In normal drive mode tow haul, no where near as good because a lot of the transmission downshifts appear to be related to how hard you press on the brakes as to how aggressive the downshifts are. For me, I choose manual mode.

    I am not a Ford fanboy, but people whining about lack of powered convex mirror on Ford trucks is rather funny to me. How many times do you really screw around convex mirrors once they are set? Powered convex mirror by Ram seems like a gimmick. If you need a powered convex mirror for your driving pleasures by all means get a Ram. But I rather get more power in a Ford than a powered convex mirror when it comes to towing.

    Are those mirror reverse cameras available on the XLT? I really don't want to go up to the Lariat due to cost, and I'm not really a fan of leather seats either. It's about $8000 less to get an XLT, but those cameras are a feature I would really like. One thing I love about RAM -- you can get all the fancy tech on ANY trim level, you don't have to go Lariat or above like with Ford.

    Was a Ram owner for 25 years and decided to purchase a 22 Platinum F350. I absolutely love the powertrain but the build quality is terrible! Doors starting creaking and you could feel them moving around in the frame. The interior quality is really bad with rattles all over the place. I took my dash completely apart and multiple pieces of plastic weren't hot fused as they should be. The console rattles etc. Ford misses simple things like bare plastic in the cupholders causing everything you place in them to rattle going down the road. I went to look over the new 23's and they are just as bad too. The next time you're in one press on the console and you'll see.
    Finally got fed up and tracked down a 23 Ram 3500 Limited and the quality difference is staggering with not a single stitch out of place. It feels like a vault going down he road. The Cummins/Aisin combo is a pulling machine and I'll never consider anything else again. Funny how people like to dis Ram quality over Ford when in reality it's the other way around.

      I’ll give you fords rattle but Rams are super problematic. My 22 ram had 3 def lights on under 10 thousand miles and the motor at 25 thou had a wicked tick starting. Traded the ram and lost my ass cause rams don’t hold their value. PD diesel has a you tube channel where he has many 22 rams that the motors have blown with low miles. He’s now driving a 23 ford and loves it.

      The issues they had in 22 is the reason I decided to try the 22 F350. I owned numerous Rams with the last one being a 21. Like PD, I noticed something was off with the 22 so I skipped it. I waited until this summer to test drive a 23 to see if they corrected the issues and updated the tune. I can say without question that they absolutely did. The 23 is very responsive and the exhaust brake is an animal.

You’re not winning any races towing a trailer against a truck that’s not towing a trailer. I’d take that bet if you completely empty your trailer too.
    Hard to judge the towing stability where that truck has a level and the aftermarket tires and wheels. Performance seems pretty good but I mean it’s not any better looking than a standard output 6.7 or a Duramax from just watching the video. Maybe if you used the timing equipment it would show up.
