Willie Mason is a former Kangaroo and NSW representative, is considered one of the most successful front rowers in NRL history. In 2004, he was a part of the famous 'Dogs of War' team that won the Grand Final, and he also received the Clive Churchill Medal during that match.
Justin Horo is a former NRL player who played 120 games for Parramatta and Manly from 2010 to 2015. In addition to playing in the UK Super League, he also represented the New Zealand Māori team.

Ray warren, Peter Sterling, Paul Vautin were and still my favouties but when it was all 3 together, absolutely love their commentary!

Interesting that Scope doesn't like Matt Thompson but rates "Salty" when they sound so alike (JT even mixed them up before when talking to one of them as a sideline eye but using the name of the other guy). That said, the way I tell them apart is that Thompson acts like the nerdy kid at school trying to fit in with the "cool" group (i.e. the ex-player commentators) but they don't have any interest in what he says, giving an awkward outsider vibe when he's commentating. His yelling doesn't help either, nor trying to make every try or line-break seem like it's the greatest of all time. Whereas "Salty" leans more towards just calling the game and the other guys seem to like him too. That said, my second in line to Rabs was always Vossy, wish he was back on 9 so he'd do Origin and the GF!
Just wanted to say lads, you have reignited my love and interest for footy! I stopped playing 4-5 years ago and stopped watching it really for a bit but the past couple of months I've been watching every episode and basically any game that's on!

I’m so curious how League fans in NZ grow up supporting the game. I’ve heard it’s bigger in Auckland. I’m a League fan in USA so I’m super rarity.

I was a social rugby union player in NZ then Australia, I'm back home in NZ now retired from all sports, I prefer watching league then rugby especially if you've gotta 8 leg multi on. We all have our teams we follow here at home and we all have a state we support..... Queensland all day. Give us an origin!!!

Darren lockyer is awkward & rubbish at commentary. I give my mum loads of crap about it since she is a die hard bronco.
SBW is probably the worst commentator across all platforms. Comes across as very one dimensional and fumbles sentences and words.
Lockyer can provide great insight into player or team strengths but can often resort to cliches and stating the obvious.
To reward the warriors for their sacrifice over covid they should have an international magic round played at mt smart with Samoa v Tonga, Fiji v PNG, NZ v Aus. Revenue goes to the club

On the warriors - every team already takes one game a year to a regional centre. I know that it would take a bit of tampering with the draw, but what about something like over the next 3-4 years every team has to take a home game against the warriors to NZ. Thought something like that would be a no-brainer

State of Origin will sadly never be taken over to NZ simply because of the TV schedule. To have a game on in Australia kicking off at 8pm (which they won't deviate from) they would need to start playing in NZ at 10pm.

The fifa world cup is Being hosted in Australia and New Zealand hence games being played at AFL grounds and Perth etc. But totally agree about the All stars and ANZAC games i guess because the NRL has 16 teams in Australia vs 1 in NZ would be the reasoning.

Year one- regional qld ie Townsville
Year 2- regional nsw ie Newcastle
Year 3- neutral Melbourne nZ

While I don’t think NRL would be smart to have an origin game here in NZ every year they should’ve given us one this year as a thank you - Eden Park would’ve been packed. Every 4 years sounds good too. In regards to the All Stars game half the stars pulled out beforehand 🤦♀️

How do you think the players not playing the first 2 minutes or so of every game would go down in this RLPA/NRL battle? Just let the ball be kicked off and then no one pick it up until the clock rolls down 2 minutes. Fans could show solidarity with the players by turning their back on the game if there live/turning their tvs off at home then that argument is eliminated.

I understand the warriors players made a huge sacrifice to keep playing ang getting paid by relocating to Australia during covid but I believe the NRL would have still gone a head without them if it had come to it. They would have just had to use a bye system like they have in place now.
I’m a passionate rugby league fan from Nee Zealand. State of origin is the pinnacle of our sport. Personally I think that the only way international rugby league will thrive is if state of origin took a backseat to the international game. However I’m a realist and that will likely never happen. Therefore there is absolutely a huge appetite for SOO to have a game here - it would be huge and if the NRL (who are the gatekeepers of our game) are actually serious about growing the sport it’s a no brainer, but the more and more I see of the NRL the less brains I think they have. Cameron George is spot on with his comments and continuing on a path of NZ as an afterthought will only erode the game her not grow it.
