yes, the guptas were indian as well, and they basically took over colonialism of south africa after the easily sunburned people were removed from power.
when i still lived there 20 years ago, south africa had the largest population of indians outside of india. i don't know if that has changed since then. but still, some of my favorite memories of south africa was going to the indian markets, where every stall had incense burning, and there was so much delicious vegetarian curry, and all the fabrics and clothes they sold looked so elegant and beautiful. i was always mesmerized when my family would take me there. it was like an entirely different world, but so amazing.
but the guptas who have the south african government as their lackeys do not have the country's best interests at heart

And they received national condemnation in SA because many people there believe that they were controlling the South African government under President Jacob Zuma from the inside out. And that enabled the Guptas to become even richer through the means of corruption.
