*can relate*
when i was around 6 years old i got a betta fish and kept it in a fairly small fish bowl with no filter or heater, after many years later i've done research and regret getting a betta with no prior knowledge
I won my first betta when I was like... 4? and kept it in the extra bathtub for a while... then went to bowls... The last Betta I owned before college I decided I wanted to try and get rid of the bowl and placed the betta of the time into my guppy tank. Best thing I ever did as a child fish keeper.
@@MetasActReon oh my god the extra bathtub!?! That’s so cool
I recently got a Halfmoon betta. When I was younger I had a betta that I didn’t provide good care for. It was one of those little dinky 2 gallon setups you buy at the store with green gravel and no filter. This time, I’m trying to do it right and I even made my first fully natural aquascape for my betta. He’s making me want more bettas tho, maybe even a crowntail or dumbo betta. They’re just so personable :)
I got my betta from a friend who didn't want his fish anymore. Mine is so sweet. He comes up to the glass to say hi and let's my wife pet him.
@@nikolaihel848 let's your wife pet him???
@@diggitydiggitydog2165 Yea, he likes to be pet. Lol. Bubba is a ham.
before you get another betta, I'd look up the possible problems with long finned breeds. dumbos have a hard time swimming because their front fins are so big and large fins weigh them down. other long finned bettas tend to nip at their own fins if they don't have enough enrichment and also have troubles swimming which isn't good for a species that's already a weak swimmer. they especially need tall structures or plants to accommodate for it so they can get a gulp of air easily
I used to have a betta as well. I also had it in a trashy fish bowl and I feel bad to this day... I should have don't research
Happy holidays everyone, thumbnail is so cool, glad it’s not overstocked

@@paigecoleman1628 I agree but then it makes it a lot harder to keep live plants
@@crazed_bread8580 I put them in pots of gravel and have little tiny pots in the tank lol

@@adrianaames2009 um I don’t mind? I think colored gravel is ugly and natural doesn’t go with the theme. I generally hide the pots of plants behind bigger decor.
I’m blessed to have a petco that has amazing clean tanks with tons of healthy fresh and saltwater fish. I wish I had a local fish store but my petco is great. With caring staff.
Mine is too
Sometimes Petcos can be better than LFS!! I have a Petco near my house that is amazing that i never have any problems with! For example i bought a school of 12 neon tetras & about 7 of them died within 24 hours including one dying before even got home from my LFS. Decided to hit Petco instead next time around & all 7 of the neons from Petco just looked so much bigger & healthier. All 7 of those neons survived and are thriving. They were also like 50 cents cheaper than my LFS. Petco gets alot of hate but some of them are amazing & even in some instances better than a LFS.
Thanks for reviewing my tank, I got the chinese algea eater from someone who kept it alone in a small tank with barf gravel for 7 years so I wanted to give him a nice home. He passed about a year ago now. The tank is now rescaped, just today actually. And the pearls are in a 90 gallon tank now enjoying life
Repashi is so cute 😱🥺

Chris is one of my favorite youtubers just for being able to squeeze a “smol pp” joke and a botched southern accent into the same 10 seconds. You’re a true blessing!
I have a 5 year old female bristlenose and to this day I cannot comprehend how she manages to poop so much, it’s like every damn day she poops her own body weight. Where does she get all the foods? Does she have a secret second stomach for the poopie? Idk but it amazes me every time I do a water change cleaning away all that poop, then an hour later she’s already pooped down the whole place again!? She’s very grumpy as well, just eats poops and hides. I love her anyway tho lol.
Well thus was a very long comment about my pooping pleco that nobody is gonna read hehe.
Yeah also I like crowntails, but I prefer half moons.
Things I thought I would never hear Chris say: *smol pp*

People with black water aquariums: spend money and time on making leaves release healthy tannins for natural environment for fish.
Nearly everyone who sees the tank: You should clean your tank, you dont take care of your fish.
Bro I spent $300 and 2 months setting up a blackwater tank for some shrimp and a betta and the first thing everyone mentions is how the water is disgusting and I don’t care about my fish
._.
My dream is to have a very large plywood Blackwater set up with native species like bluegill, sunfish and bass. Some day.

I went to a pet store the other day and the first thing was a huge tank with goldfish. There were only like 5 goldfish in there but there was the largest Popeyed goldfish I’ve ever seen!!! It was great to see that right in front of the store, saying “hey this is how big these get and are not for a bowl” they did keep bettas in such tiny bowls though... that made me sad my friend (who used to breed bettas) and I wanted to steal them so badly lol
My aunt had some baby koi who we thought were just some cool gold fish in a pretty big tank when I was little. It was definitely bigger than the, I believe, 10 gal I used to keep my froggo in before he passed. But I genuinely don't know how big it was. Later on they started to grow to big for the tank si they made them a pond and I used to sit in the pond with them
You know they are evolving when you haven't seen a goldfish in one part of this video.

Chris: SHHHH
I used to have a sweet "crowntail" betta named Whisper. She was the cutest little fish I ever had even as she got to be a big eggy mess. Sadly, I had to re-home her when I moved and my apartment wouldn't let me have more than one tank. Last time I heard about her she was doing well. There are times when I think about her and hope that she's living her best life.
My first betta I ever owned by myself is a Crowntail! His name is Comet, he’s a silvery white color with a turquoise fade towards his tail and fins, tipped with red. His scales are also a little freckled and has a few sparse black scales on his face. He’s a sassy lil guy who knows he looks good! When I first got him he was a nearly translucent white with peach fins, so he’s come a long way.

Me: knowing that Facebook gives him content.
I had neons shipped in a while back that would all bunch up and hide under the rocks in the tank when I opened up the lid. They reminded me of that one episode of SpongeBob where Patrick finds everyone hiding under his house. So cute.
I recently got my fiancé a half moon mystery box betta from a breeder and he got me a half moon plakat galaxy koi in return ^^ They should be arriving soon and I’m using what I learn from your reviews to help set up the tanks!

Whenever I do something that looks really good in a scape, and I'm afraid to add or move anything, I just take a picture and then keep adjusting to see if I can improve it and if it gets worse, I could just look at the picture I took and put it exactly the way that it was
I figured to tell you this story, I had a 10 gallon fish tank with a filter and pump with 6 goldfish when I was 6 they were all happy and healthy (although the tank was a bit small” one died beaches of the hiding place it was too small and his fin got scraped off because of it and he couldn’t swim. 😢

Neon Tetras are photo-sensitive. When my RBG lights warm up they are out and about. But when the lights brighten to 100% White level they are all hiding in the dense plant life. I always need to feed them at 50% light or lower or they don't get enough food.

Sorry if this isn't the place but I've just gotten started in the hobby and I wanted to ask if you have any quiet 5 gallon filter recommendations? I have an aquatops 5-15 and I've isolated the noise as much as possible but the pump won't shut up. I've cleaned it out completely shortly after the first fill and isolated as much noise as I can with silicone pads.
Who else completely forgot what the secret comments were so they just randomly wrote “crowntail” ?
Man this video makes me wanna get a Crowntail ;)
Honestly so happy I bought my crown tail, Ocelot, when I did. Went back and half the betta were gone. Hes got such a great personality

The Neon tetras look to me like there is some sort of predictor or large fish in the tank. In my first tank ever i raised 20ish neons with Bala sharks and angels (because i didnt know they got that big or were slightly mean) i remember as the balas were hitting 5 ish inches and angles were3 ish the neons did something similar to this.

I have a feeling that my dad has bought like 10 Chinese algae eaters, two different types, golden and brown. They were sold as different species of algae eater, one being called a golden algae eater and the brown one I can't remember what it was called. So yeah, I think we have too many. We also have like 40 Bristlenoses, not all together, some in three tanks and like 20 in a pond. I think we are a little overstocked.
My local facebook fish keeping group is actually really helpful and it's very rare I see people with ridiculously inappropriate tank sizes. It's mostly look at my fish, they had babies! Or people who have problems and want help.

Are coconut huts not naural? You probably wouldn't find many coconut shells in a river or pond, but they dont look to bad. I think they'd look good in a planted and nicely hardscaped tank.
Pretty unrelated, but I have a question. I used to have fish years ago, but I wasn't well educated. I now know they probably weren't in the best condition. I still have one of my tanks. (Don't worry, the measurements are correct) but it has a built in filter and "cleaner". I'm planning on getting a betta to put in it. Is it safe? Thanks for any help
A tank can technically have as many fish as you can take care of without high nitrate, ammonia, and nitrate.
Well no... not really. That’s like saying a hamster can live in a shoe box size cage as long as you keep the cage clean. It’s not ok. Same with fish.
For number of fish, this makes sense. Just as long as, like Isabella said, each individual fish is in a tank size large enough for them to have decent swimming room.
It’s about more than that though. Hormones collect in water too, and we don’t really have methods for testing how much is in the water. But we know that having excess hormones stunts growth and increases stress. So it’s safer overall to keep tanks under stocked, even if you’re capable of keeping your levels at 0.
@@Midnightwolf1333 true, but one should do water changes regardless which should keep hormone levels, and other parameters in check. I believe aquarium co op made a video talking about what my original comment says
@@AK-jt9gx that is very true because nobody should keep large fish in small tanks unless it is temporary, for example a 29 gallon you can have guppies and rash or as but you shouldn’t keep a bass or Oscar in there long term

Hi! My friend showed me your channel and I’m sooo glad! Love your vids! ❤️
I watched the Chinese Algae Eater part three times and it is becoming more fun every time :D
I saw video on tiktok of someone keeping goldfish and a baby crocodile in a TOILET BOWL I was disgusted by it so I reported it for animal abuse, but apparently fish (and crocodile) abuse doesn’t fit their guidelines!

I had a crowntail but a scourge of bacteria, wiped out my entire beta sorority. Oh and clown plecos are a better option than bristlenose for large tanks that can house a school of plecos. they are shy at first, but eventually came out for me. Don't forget to put driftwood in tanks with plecos, it aids in their digestion and plays a critical role in nutrition.
I just set up my brother with a "crowntail" Betta in my old tank, she loves it already.
