Very soon, around first half of the 2024. and in 2025. 12 of these beauties are gonna be delivered and become part of the Croatian Air force elite strike force capable for wide range of tasks from air policing, projecting air superiority to strategic ground attacks.

They always doubt my country. Remember, 6 Eurofighter lost to a single Rafale.
The rafale might not be the fastest, the stealthiest or the best in any domain. But it is not the worst in any of them, it is versatile and reliable.
It can do ground attack, interception, dogfighting, land on aircraft carrier (even US ones).
And for the French airforce, it can carry the nuclear weapon. It's the Swiss Knife of fighter jet.
And never a single Rafale crashes because of a mechanical failure, it runs like a charm !

the Rafale is certainly less powerful or less fast than many other aircraft, but, against the Eurofighter, in 2009, 18 fights, 16 to 2 won by the Rafale, against the F22, 6 fights, 5 fights classified as "mutual neutralization " and the 6th fights for the victory of the Rafale! and yet, the F22 is twice as powerful as the Rafale (31.2 tonnes compared to 15 tonnes of thrust for the Rafale) the power of the Rafale is not shown in its speed limited by Dassault engineers (it still flies at 2200 km/h or mach 1.8!) take a converter from mach to km/h!!!!! even the faster F16 was beaten, yet faster and theoretically more maneuverable than a large twin-engine, the F18 also in India found its master during tests! a plane is not just its power, just a pilot, but it is a set of capabilities!! the Rafale at the end of 2023 still holds several records! for an aircraft weighing less than 10 tonnes (Rafale C 9850 kg) it carries almost 100% of its empty armament 9500 kg) it carries almost 150% of fuel and amenity (14650 kg) it is the only aircraft in the world to reach 11G positive in charge factor!! it has a slow passage at 80 knots (152 km/h) for an aircraft without vertical takeoff and without vectorized thrust, it can land at 100 knots (180 km/h) and it can land on an aircraft carrier at 120/130 knots (depending on loading on return) a reminder, an F18 lands at 152 knots on an aircraft carrier!!

Rafale B went to Red Flag in 2008 and met with F-16Cs of 309th Fighter Squadron (FS), 56th Fighter Wing (FW) and in that encounter a Rafale B was ' shot down ' by a single seat F16C . So clearly that one victory should be constantly referred to in the same terms as the Rafale victory over an F22. Do you not understand an occasional victory in dissimilar training is not proof of dominance. Mirage 2000 pilots have plenty of kills over Rafale cousins to brag about again that is never mentioned by fan boys.

@@NATObait oh yes, the minimum speed of a Rafale is 152 km/h without loss of lift, while a poor A10 loses its lift below 220 km/h!! the stall speed of an F16 is 125 to 130 knots or 230 km/h minimum, so if a Rafale goes below 200 km/h, the F16 or the A10 will pass in front of it, and that will be the end of it! and in the event of combat, a Rafale is the only plane (along with the F35 theoretically) to have fired a missile at a plane behind it, without using its radar, only with passive sensors! LOL and the F16 is inferior to the Mirage 2000 in almost all flight domains: maximum speed, flight autonomy, gun, maximum altitude, weapons carry, etc........... 2 Mirage 2000 Greeks have intercepted 2 Turkish F16s, the first F16 was shot down, and the second F16 had to flee!!!!

MMRCA which has its initial roots since 2001 with the Mirages and then finally taking shape in 2007 and the saga continues. mmrca has to be scrapped and additional F4 Version of the Rafale has to be ordered asap in a GTG mode. 36 are not at all sufficient. They can win a regional air conflict like Balakot 2019 but for a full fledged war many more will be required. Only the SU30mki and Rafale are with modern fighting capabilities, all other jets of the IAF are best 90,s legacy early 4th gen.

the only so-called 5th generation Chinese plane is the J20, but it has a lot of faults, including unreliable engines, 25 hours of operation and they already have breakdown problems, while the Rafale has been reliable for a long time! and the 5th generation is just a propaganda argument, that's all, it seems that HAL TEJAS would be an aircraft of the same generation as the Rafale??? oh well, the TEJAS which is a low-end low-cost aircraft would be more efficient than a Rafale!! LOL I died laughing!! the Rafale outclassed the Eurofighter, and it dominated the F22 which is mach 0.4 faster and it is twice as powerful as the Rafale (31.2 tonnes of thrust for the F22 and 15 tonnes for the Rafale) the F22 even has vectorized thrust that the Rafale does not have, so why did the Rafale dominate the so powerful F22, which is 5th generation while the Rafale is 4++, although if we take the 7 characteristics of the Pentagon to be a 5th generation aircraft, the F35 and the F22 do not have all the characteristics, they would therefore be 4th generation, while the Rafale F3R or F4.1 or F4.2 or F5 would be 5th generation!! weird

The Indian armed forces ought to learn from France. The incremental improvement approach of Rafale proved to be very successful. On the other hand, we aim for the moon directly with our requirements which puts undue pressure on the development and manufacturing functions. The LCA could have been inducted much earlier and then improved upon over time. I feel, one of the reasons for this is that the French are not open to acquiring foreign platforms and hence make do with what they have and keep improving it. We, on the other hand, did not put that pressure on ourselves and thus ended up slowing down our development speed and capability.

It helps that France is not surrounded by neighbours that want to occupy its territory. France has no immediate threat from its neighbours whereas things are much different for India. This is why France can take its time to slowly develop capabilities.
But yea Tejas should have been inducted in the mid 2000s. It would have saved a lot of pilots lives and also made India more self reliant. It’s pretty clear that the 36 Rafale were purchased as a panic buy to counter the threat of J20s from China. I just hope the MoD and IAF has learnt from the mistakes of Tejas and don’t repeat them in AMCA and TEDBF. Both of them are needed more urgently than Rafale.

Relying on a French aircraft for critical security is a big risk. France can one day independently 'choose' to not supply spare parts because the other nation does not align with France on their foreign policy. For smaller nations, it may not be an issue but for large nations like India that are capable of producing their own, it is a big liability in terms of Forex as well as technology growth (there is no tech transfer involved, the aircraft were received in a ready-to-fly condition).

Rafale M doesn't fit in the lifts on Indian Aircraft Carriers as its wings don't fold like Super Hornet Block III. Maybe that is acceptable to politicians but in bad weather or war not being able to strike aircraft down for maintenance etc is its Achilles Heel. Perhaps a two seat M version would have been a consideration if offered but Dassault only made single seat offering so no Growler possibility. Having similar capabilities to F3R is on paper a good idea but the Navy would get little benefit from spending its budget on a type best suited to the Indian Airforce.
France will not sell its Nuclear Protocols to anybody, ever, so any thoughts of using Nuclear delivery will have to be an Indian built concept.

To explain this I will give example: at 1999. NATO aggression on Serbia showed that even old Soviet SAM systems can shoot down any plane.
We shoot down famous stealth F117 and wounded badly the second one with old S125 Neva system from Soviet time, also some other planes but all of them were destroyed by old Soviet systems.

Talk of autonomy is fine. But it costs money. Too much money. Especially if you are competing with US with an economy 10x larger. So Rafale will be the LAST fighter jet independently developed by France. For the next stealth fighter, they are going with Germany. So the French has given up. Finally.
