I found Selena just a year ago, and I LOVE her! I'm sure if she would have been one of the most important female singers 1990's (just like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Madonna). I even see things from all those three in her. Such a shame she was taken from us by a psycho nobody, but I'm glad we at least have her videos, concerts and music to enjoy.

I also love that Selena was the one that broke down the wall of Tejano & American music. Rightfully known as The Queen of Tejano music. And she also inspired a lot of musicians like Daddy Yankee, Wisin Y Yandel, Kat Deluna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, & many more I don't remember. R.I.P Selena ❤️.

With out mention to you that Jenifer Lopez is two years older than Selena , Jennifer was a unknow actriz until the Selena movie every one get to hear about Jenifer Lopez, with out Selena probable Jenifer would be just one more of hollywood latinas regular actriz and Selna would be bigger than all of them, ohhh forget to say Selena is one of the most loved singers In USA and Latin America, for last but not leats if you ask your google our any other google who is the queen of body curves our the singer with the better natural shape ever, your google will answer you that is Selena , she have better shape measure than Jennifer Lopez, apart from been the queen of all body natural curves she is the queen of the texmex all that just with 23 years, now I am not saying that Jenifer Lopez shape is not real because both of them Jennifer Lopez and Selena are 100 % natural shape, Selena father say that they have almost identical shape and the same hight, but Selena waits was little more shaller than Jenifer and if you check both of then in the disco medley film the outfit fgoes better on Selena, any way Jennifer is a good actriz and performer but she cant sing even she was married with Mark Antony she never learn to sing, she just dont have voice, but Selena could just do it all, more than everything Selena was a great human been she was lovely with everyone and very humble person, always kind and have that beautiful smile on her face not like today regular Divas.

I was five years old when Selena passed away. Although I was very young I didn’t feel so young and I remember living her for many years. Her music always played in every kind of party.
I remember I’d get mad at my father when he’d tease me that she was his girlfriend haha because she was mine to love lol. I’m Mexican and I grew up in the U.S. She really defined an era and left a mark in many
peoples’ lives. My sisters and female cousins all imitated her and looked up to her. I remember crying and being deeply depressed when she died. I remember watching the news coverage as it happened.
I’m now in my 30’s and I still miss Selena. I still listen and love her music and wish I could have had the honor of meeting her.

Hope you're still there. I enjoyed watching your reaction to this last gift of the now-departed Selena. To watch this human explosion of joy, grace, beauty and sweetness, not to mention talent, skill and hard work, knowing that month later she, more innocent than Christ, would be taken from us by a monster, is the most bittersweet emotion I know -- and you understand that. In 2009, I think, I, too, saw Jennifer Lopez' movie (actually Gregory Nava's movie made with the cooperation of the Quintanilla family), and, deeply touched, I began to learn more about the real Selena, and I could not believe how beautiful, talented, joyful and utterly special she was. I began to teach myself Spanish, and collect materials, and in March 2010 made the pilgrimage to Corpus Christi. She is a sacred figure in my life, but to watch her effusive joy and beauty is to weep. Thank you for sharing your reactions.

Selena was only 23 years old when her life was taken away she was a true Latin country singer ❤she would be a diva today alongside with Mariah Carey and All the others she was my favorite Latin singer and Whitney Huston from that era RIP 🪦 Both 😞

Selena, was an American ,American Parents born in Texas ,her mother had Native American roots, born in Washington, Selena native tongue was English, she had to learn how to speaks Spanish in order to sing ,unfortunately , the USA lost someone who was destined to be great singe ever , RIP

Actually, her native tongue was also Spanish. She spoke it less but she grew up hearing it and using it with her parents. She was more like a passive bilingual, but very bilingual. If you hear her speak Spanish at 22, she was very fluent. People can study Spanish intensively for years and don't even come close to the speed and fluidity Selena had.

Selena wasn't as popular in Canada as she was in the U.S. from what I can recall. I was in my late 20's, when she was just becoming a big star. It's only from watching the movie that I realized how talented and down-to-earth she was. So tragic that her life was cut short.

I am born and raised in Corpus Christi and I remember seeing this on tv when I was 6..she died days later. She definitely was representation of light skinned Mexican American girls w big lips and frizzy hair and curvy bodies. She shifted the paradigm in little girls through the huge state of Texas

Selena is a legend but I suggest Angela Aguilar who's is part of a dynasty. Her grandfather(Antonio Aguilar), & her grandmother( Flor Sylvestre) were phenomenal. Her dad(Pepe Aguilar) is also a singer. Start off with either "LA Llorona" or "La Chancla". La Llorona is hauntingly beautiful.
