After a breakdown, university lecturer Ben Marshall (Ed Stoppard) moves to the countryside with his wife (Sophia Myles) and young son (Isaac Andrews), hoping for a fresh chance at family life. With a new job and a new home, Blackwood, things seem to be changing for the better.
But Blackwood is far from the perfect escape, as Ben is haunted by visions that seem to connect to the house's previous owner, Mrs Warner, an artist whose disturbing paintings fill the house. As Ben begins to dig into the mystery of a missing local woman and her son, he investigates a troubled gamekeeper (Russell Tovey) and the local vicar (Paul Kaye). The arrival of Ben's old friend and fellow academic, Dominic (Greg Wise), serves only to awaken old emotions.
Can Ben untangle the mystery of Blackwood and save his family before he runs out of time?
Blackwood comes to selected UK cinemas on 1 August 2014.

I just saw this movie and it was amazing..
Great British psychological thriller. Subtle and atmospheric. Excellent acting by Sophia Myles and Ed Stoppard (his dad's a famous playwright). I really liked it!
This movie is actually really good. Not the best movie,but have good characters, pretty good atmosphere, story isnt bad. I just enjoy whole movie. And who make music for this ? Score for this movie is brilliant!

This movie surprised me. A speciel kind of horror movie I must say, as the end of the movie really make the whole movie turn around..... Not a low budged movie at all! worth a watch.

I discovered this(with difficulty) while trying to find out what Joanna Vanderham was doing since ' Paradise'--not much info or advertising---must have been a flop.
Must see Sophia Myles.
I like the music. But I'm kind of reminded of Lord of Tears, which is a pretty good horror movie.

Decent movie, a little boring until the end but that just manages to redeem the rest of the movie, it all comes together in the end. 6.5/10 give it a watch if you're bored.
Why did Sophia Myles quit bigger movies? I haven't seen her in anything good lately.
