A rare green comet, last seen around 50,000 years ago, is due to make its closest pass by Earth this week.
Called C/2022 E3 (ZTF), this celestial object hails from the Oort cloud at the outermost edge of the Solar System.

That's what I also think as this lvl of clearence also it's movement can't be seen also with a binocular. For this a general small telescope needed

Great description write up but as disappointing as we observers know, this is NOT the comet (C/2022) everyone was looking forward to seeing. The speed alone is a dead giveaway to night sky watchers. 😢

1 of 2, of the most awesome natural sights I've ever seen was when Hale Bob comet went by, back in about the late 90s. Lived in Mancelona Michigan, in the northern lower. We had clear skies, could see it tail and all, seems like it was about a week. The other awesome thing was when a meteor turned night into day for a couple seconds or so. Lived in the Detroit area then. You could hear it slap, into the atmosphere too. I think I was about 13 or so, back in about 1970, then. 😃

The comet will not come so close to earth that the speed is visible. It is 1.1 twice the distance from the sun to the earth away from the earth, meaning it cannot be that big. An by the way, here in Canada it's very cloudy making it hard to find the comet.
That's GREAT that you are SOOO SMART!! But, I don't think anyone asked if Canadians could see it... That would be like me saying, "BTW - Here in Arizona, we are too far South, so I/we can't see the Aurora Borealis...". See what I mean?.. You probably don't even care if I/we can see the Northern Lights from Arizona, or not, do you? Just an Observation.
BTW - I'm really just messin with ya anyway! And actually, I did see the Northern Lights here in AZ one time, but I may have been juuuust a little bit high on Northern Lights MJ at the time, too... J/k, I don't like weed. I was 100% sober, but there was a Solar Storm at the time, and that's what allowed it to happen.

Idk what that is, but I don't think it's a comet.
It takes an asteroid like 7 seconds from when you first see it to when it hits the ground.
The earth will accelerate all very distant objects to 11.4 km/s (or something like that).

If this is supposed to be out side of the atmosphere then the angle is wrong.i believe
It would be traveling in an upward trajectory because of the tilt and rotation of the earth. This bullshit implies that it #1 has entered the atmosphere and #2 is the absolute slowest celestial object to enter a planets atmosphere. Oh right and based on how close it actually is to the earth it wouldn't be visibly moving, it's coma (tail) would be white not green, it would be barely visible to the naked eye, and lastly this isn't a time lapse picture which would show its movement.

When I heard about this I wondered if this would be the Blue Kachina that the Hopi Prophecy mentioned. This may be it. Not long after - no time given - a Red Kachina will appear and then the earth's rotation will be righted.
