More seriously, dumb fans and commentators seeking hot takes speak in zero sum games. But the simple fact is the Nugs are a better TEAM. The Wolves are young. I trust Ant will learn because Ant does and is already mature beyond his years. This summer he will be figuring out how to break double teams and learn how to better play team defense in addition to man defense. (He was ball watching at times, costing fast break points.)

People are crazy to think that Gobert is playing poorly and I am a Nuggs fan. The matter of fact is nobody can stop Joker. Yes, one can slow him down sometimes, as evident by those first 2 games, but you cant stop him. For some reason, people assume that DPOY means a complete shutdown. Stop it. Gobert did everything he could but great offense beats great defense all the time.

If Jokic wanted to average 30pts per game, he could easily do so and I'm not sure why it is hard for some of these ex players to acknowledge that.

I think most people get that, but it's Embiid's role to be a primary scorer while Jokic has a more versatile game. Jokic could potentially be the best scoring center if he took more shots, but he won't. It reminds me of the Durant/Lebron comparisons from around 8 years ago, where Lebron could potentially be the best scorer, but Durant was titled the best, since his teams required him to carry more offensive load and he came out with the scoring titles.

Perhaps I have misunderstood Jefferson, but sounded to me that he mentions Embiid as the most "prolific" scorer, at their respective position, which, in my opinion, is not the case. Shaq averaged 26.6 points in the finals against Ben WITH Sheed helping him out. That's not Ben "holding his own". It's the entire team helping. Also Ben didn't have to worry about guarding the perimeter unlike Rudy has to right now so that's A LOT of pressure off of him. The 2004 Pistons team was my favorite team but even I have to admit that it took the entire team defensively to contain Shaq. Not shut him down.
Ben also is like 6'8 with shoes, so idk if he could guard Jokic 1v1. Joker would just shoot over him every time like he does to people like Kyle Anderson.

Sometimes people are just in the zone. You can’t blame Rudy for trying to guard him 1v1. I know he’s a 4x DPOY but Duncan damn near did the same thing in 05’ against Ben Wallace (also 4x DPOY) and Rasheed WHILE having plantar fasciitis. The biggest difference is Jokic is the best offensive center I’ve ever seen.

I really think the best defensive scheme the wolves have for Jokic is to make KAT or Naz the primary defender with Gobert as help cause 1.) KAT as the help does not work since KAT cannot read the offense and make stupid defensive plays. 2.) Leaving Gobert on an island against Jokic will not work since no one stops Jokic one on one. 3.) putting Gobert on Jokic means the best rim protector is away from the rim.

  •  Před 20 dny

It’s not Gobert’s blame, it’s how the league is played. Post ups are a rarity and have been ever since analytics took over. Gobert is a great rim protector when it’s all about drives to the basket, and even defending a pick&roll his wingspan is a huge factor, but I can’t remember one single performance by him against a good center that plays by posting up where he didn’t end being cooked. Jokic is one of the best at this, the outcome is just what you’d expect.
