    I got my Shark Hyper Air about a month ago after you had mentioned it in one of your videos briefly. Was on the fence debating whether or not I wanted to spend that large of an amount on the Dyson or not. And being a pro in the industry, there’s lots of sway towards Dyson for many reasons.
    I’m so happy with my decision. The diffuser alone is AMAZING! And my hair dries incredibly fast! The concentrator is phenomenal when I wanna round brush my hair, and the cool shot button is in the perfect spot to ensure I don’t burn my hair. The lowest heat setting can get pretty warm for low. But with the cool shot button, it’s nice to be able to regulate that heat where I need it. It also works wonders for setting my curls after diffusing so my wait to break the cast is much shorter.
    Shark is most certainly giving Dyson a run for their money. And as they should! I’ve seen a lot of very expensive hair tools. Aside from our shears and clippers to cut hair, dryers and curling irons and such should not cost over $500. That’s just ridiculous. The Dyson can’t color my hair and style it for me like in The Jetsons. When it can, I’ll shell $500 and more for it.
    If y’all got a lady out there who needs a good hair dryer, I’d definitely look into the Shark. So far, I have zero complaints. It’s a blessing, like Courtney!

      I’ve been using my Dyson dryer almost on a daily basis since 2017, and it’s the longest lasted dryer I’ve ever had, even though I’ve dropped it on its head from 3 to 4 ft numerous times (yes I’m very clumsy). It’s the only one that can dry my hair in 30 mins or less, even with low heat. If it ever breaks, I don’t know if I’ll pay that price again though. Im trying to find a good alternative. So far, all the Chi dryers, Bio ionic, conair, rusk, Babyliss Pro, GHD, and T3 have let me down (I love T3 single pass hair straighteners though). Im fearful to pay for Shark because I’ve always had the highest end & newest Shark vacuums, and they ALWAYS give me issues within the 1st year. I just spent $399 on a shark vacuum around this recent Mother’s Day, and it’s already giving me constant issues just a few months in. 😔 They have useful and innovative ideas, but don’t execute them as greatly as dyson does. I wish my hair wasn’t so thick so I could just settle for any hair dryer.

    I haven't had much luck with the Shark Dryer. I was intrigued to try it having saw a lot of hype for it. Purchased my 1st dryer 2 weeks ago... found it very hot even on lowest setting (common trend in reviews). It was much hotter than my GHD Helios and my former Dyson Supersonic (it did pack in after only less than 18 months of just once weekly use). I returned the dryer and got a replacement. Ironically, with the 2nd during its first ever use, no heat would come out at all. The heat and fan setting wouldn't even light up and didn't work. So I had to stand with soaking wet curls going through a technical video check with Shark. Sadly I returned the faulty dryer and purchased another Dyson! For £230-250 in the UK, the Shark is too pricey for the trouble I've had. Yes the diffuser is bigger than the Dyson which is a plus but the Shark is too hot on its lowest setting, heavier and noiser than the Dyson, has a very short lead and just wasn't up to par with other dryers!

    I just got the Shark Hyperair dryer for Christmas yesterday and have never been so excited to wash my hair. LOL I just used it for the first time. I was so impressed, I can't even tell you. I only used the brush and concentrator attachments because I've been straightening my naturally wavy/slightly curly hair for several weeks now but I'm dying to use the diffuser and the beach waves attachments. I had to move fast. I have fairly thin/fine hair but I was amazed at how fast it dried.

  • @GB2595
    @GB2595 Před 2 lety +26

    I’m wondering whether the difference in drying time could be because the defuser head on the shark is bigger and therefore there is more airflow when you diffuse. The diffuser head on the Dyson is smaller so the hair is going to be tighter in there and therefore not getting as much airflow. It would be fun to see if there is a difference in dry time if you hover diffuse like Manes by Mell likes to do. But either way, great review as always ❤️

  • @tracyvision
    @tracyvision Před 2 lety +3

    FWIW I bought the deluxe set with the wave attachment and am returning it. The lowest heat setting is too hot for my taste and there is no option to set it on no heat except to use the Cool Shot button, so I have to pulse the cool shot on and off to keep it at what I consider warm. Probably because I didn’t let it get hotter I found my dry time wasn’t any shorter than with my $30 Xtava dryer. I like the diffuser on the Shark, but it’s not any better than the Black Orchid IMO, and the concentrator nozzle isn’t anything special. The wave attachment isn’t big enough for my long hair and whips the hair around in a spiral to dry it, which did give me nice ringlets but subjected my ends to more trauma than I’m comfortable with. Bottom line for more than $200 I should love it and I don’t. I bought directly from Shark and they do have a money back guarantee and are paying for the return shipping, which I appreciate.

    As a professional hairdresser in love with my professional Dyson hair dryer, I almost never use the low heat setting for diffusing. I use medium to high heat with low, medium or high wind depending on the hair type. The benefit of the Dyson is it’s targeted heat control. I wonder if the Shark is already too hot if you can dry your hair faster on the lowest setting? If you were in my chair, I’d probably use high heat and medium wind to dry you hair in less than 15 minutes

For me, my hair is too fine, and I'm not able to use any products in my hair, due allergies...which totally sucks. I found that the Shark dried my hair too much before I was able to style it. It took too much moisturizer out of, causing it to become fly away. I think this would be awesome if you have super curly and/or thick hair, as it will make your hair extremely soft and shiny. Especially, if you're looking to straighten it, but still have some body. All the attachments will work wonders on the the thicker hair too. It's a great design, but not for someone with fine, virgin (no dyes, bleaching) hair. I wish everyone good hair days! ☺️

    I just ordered my Dyson for my husband to give to me for Christmas, the blue and copper colour for me is just perfect. I have fine, low to medium density mid length hair so a smaller diffuser bowl gets more shrinkage for my wavy hair.
    I suspect you like the Shark because of the diffuser bowl, it doesn't look nearly as bulky as when you use the snozzle pro on the Dyson

    • @AnaMiel4324

      Same here! I know Dyson didn’t think about the curlies when they designed the diffuser but I believe this attachments perfect for low density and short manes (I’m a wavy as well). Also the new attachments are amazing. I got the blue one and it’s stunning! 😍
      It would be nice if Dyson re-design the diffuser for other hair densities and lengths.

    I excitedly bought the Shark dryer but then was majorly disappointed to find that even the low heat setting felt waaaaay toooo hot! I pulled out a thermometer and tested the temps on all heat settings on the Shark and my old Conair hair dryer and sure enough even the “low” setting on the Shark was very close to the high setting on my old Conair ionic hair dryer (152F vs 156F)! That’s really hot! I don’t think anyone would recommend diffusing curly hair at the highest heat setting on a regular dryer, but that seems to be what one is essentially doing on low with the Shark? I’m not sure what I’m gaining with the using the Shark on low vs using the Conair on high (which I’d never actually do!). Do you have a non-Dyson hair dryer that you can compare the temp to? I know you like data! ;) I’m wondering if anyone else’s Shark temp runs that high on the lowest heat setting or if I have a defective one!? I don’t want to use such high heat and damage my hair!

    • @VampireFreak014

      I actually contacted the company and the customer service rep acted like it shouldn’t be that hot. They sent me two more and they both were equally as hot so that really just is how they are. I’m making a CZcams video eventually to show people the temps on these things. It’s no wonder it dries hair so fast because you are basically drying your hair on high heat on the lowest temp setting.

Got so disgusted with my last wash day I was about to grab the scissors and flatiron and change my name to Karen, but decided to use the brush attachment on the Shark to blow my bird's nest straight. So if your looking for fast drying time... Dyson won't do it.
    Dyson regulates the temperature and never burns your hair so it favours cooler air over hot air that's why it takes longer to dry.

    Aside from the dryers, is there a special reason why you pixie diffuse first and then hover diffuse last to dry roots? I was under the impression is was important to first hover diffuse your roots and then pixie diffuse last because you will end up over drying/damage your ends if you start out drying the ends of your hair fist by pixie diffusing right off the bat... Is there a benefit or trick to drying your roots last? Or is it not damaging in your opinion from trial and error and experimentation with starting put pixie diffusing the ends first? Just wanted to ask because I have seen people say not to dry ends but roots first and you don't and seem very knowledgeable about this stuff, so is there a right or wrong way with that in your opinion?
