There's a lot of character depth in this scene. Hellboy quickly picks up (all be it while drunk) Abe falling for Princess Nuala and instead of making fun of him for it he gives him moral support by giving him a beer and singing along. This shows that they're more than just colleagues at work or partners in crime, they're brothers.

Ron is too old. When they had the first talk about the third one, he was already too old for the role. the budget has too be at least 200 mil cause they would need more CGI for Ron.

Actually referring to something as gay to describe something kind of lame is a thing of the not so far past. In 2020, and 2021, you can't even reference something like that without offending bitch ass people. So I'd disagree that is the way of 2020. In the 90,s everyone used to say that. No matter what, practical suit is MUCH MORE REALISTIC than CGI.
Yeah, Hellboy & Abe looks so real with that suit. Sure, CGI nowadays looks great, but just does not get the "realistic" look.
This is honestly one of my top 10 movie scenes because it shows how much a best friend should be when someone is in a situation that one falls into without any warning

Chamomile in this moment... the two of them left looked so pathetic... and human... two friends just bonding... indeed, Guillermo del torro understood that hellboy didn't need to be a bonified badass all the time as we knew he was... sometimes he had to be as pathetic as the rest of us and that made him all the more real.

I love action movies and that's part of the reason I was drawn to this movie as a kid, but as an adult I find myself rewatching clips like this way more. Scenes like this really feel like the heart of the Hellboy movies, just like the scenes where Red is spending time with Liz or in the first movie when he's mourning Professor Bruttenholms death
