Just got a Limited and I love it. Handles like a dream. I differ with your criticism of the center console, I personally really like the open floor space. (This is why I rejected the Subaru Solterra.) Haven't yet figured out what to do with the small center compartment on the floor. The area to the left of the driver's screen is ferrous and you can stick magnetic holders on it. I use it to hold my sunglasses. I think the on-the-column gear selector is just great and helps economize on center floor space. Agree that there is room for improvement in heating/cooling setup, much of which has to be done with the touch screen, adding a few more push buttons would be nice. Overall a GREAT vehicle, 9/10 for me.

That empty space in front of the center console is really handy for my daughter’s school backpack on the way to and from school, or my backpack if I have a meeting somewhere. The space below the armrest I use to put a single shopping bag or take out meal if the opportunity arises. I really enjoy all that space. In addition, I slide that console all the way back when I’ve got my seat fully reclined and put my iPad on it to watch something while waiting for a charge, or waiting for my daughter outside an appointment.

Dont know how you missed all the marketing hoopla regarding that fabric-covered plate to the left of the driver instruments.
They keep calling it a magnetic pad. It's not. It's just a metal plate atop which you can stick magnets to. Think of it as your fridge door where you magnet papers.
Its purpose is dubious at best. Meant to be there to stick things like your parking vouchers. I dont use mine at all.

So I wonder how you would feel with the ID 4 Gear shifter. It's in such a weird location and hard to see. Also SUV only stands for Sports Utility Vehicle so it is pretty much that a CUV stands for Crossover Utility Vehicle so in essance this can be both. It is sporty which was supposed to be what a suv was all about and to get away from things like Stationwagon. And now they call it a SUV and then they added height to it. So while I get it the naming in the car world needs to be more clear what is what.

It's a bit strange that the only way to skip to the next song is to use the infotainment touchscreen, which is a bit out of reach when driving. Why not add a button to skip and a button to rewind onto the steering wheel?
The exterior of this car is amazing. But it feels like they let their design team go after the outside was done, as the interior is way too basic and not well thought out.
I was going to buy the 2022 IONIQ 5, but passed on it because of these issues. I was hoping that 2023 model would fix them, but alas, I guess I won't buy this IONIQ 5 either. I waited for several months with really high hopes for the 2023 model.

I see MotorTrend has a very loose definition of what a SUV is, hatchback (yes), CUV (yes), SUV (no), why does everyone believe you should call everything that has a liftgate an SUV and not a CUV or hatchback, oh yeah, Americans don't buy hatchbacks, CUVs aren't tough enough, and minivans are a no, no, this is where we are folks, crazy, out of the list, there were real SUVs, just saying

He didn’t like anything about the car other than the outside, I believe the space you get in the front for leg room is amazing, he hates the gear shift and hates the overall design of the interior dude dosen’t know what he is talking about but hey I guess the car isn’t for you
