Nirvana - Polly [BBC Sessions]

'Polly' Recorded 10/26/89. A broadcast recording for the BBC. Unusual in that it is one of only a few versions of the song to feature drums. The song's lyrics apparently tell a dark tale from the perspective of a rapist/abductor, reportedly inspired by a similar story Kurt had once read in a newspaper. Most of these are converted from lossless audio .FLAC files.

This was recorded before Nevermind. I guess Butch Vig was wrong when he said Kurt made a mistake when he sang "Polly said...'' and they left it in, that part is in this version as well.

He's a very talented mixer and I love the guy but he was mistaken on a few things, such as the "Polly said" which I heard many times previous to May 1991 sessions. Like the "I had to convince Kurt to do overdubs by using the John Lennon comparison", Kurt did do overdubs here & there prior to Nevermind. They're not always as apparent, and not on everg track, but still happened. And no, I'm not talking about harmonies such as this one

@@paulwblair yeah opiods do that. They make you lose interest in things that were once enjoyable to you. I learned that from pain killers after having multiple surgeries. I was an avid guitar player. After taking pain pills, my interest for guitar playing became less and less. I got the satisfaction without having to play an instrument which took brain power and work. A pill you just pop it like candy and feel good without having to do anything. I couldn't imagine how bad it is with heroine since it's a much stronger opiod. You would probably lose all interest which Kurt seemed to do. He looked uninterested in anything after Nevermind.
