    Yo man, on the bottom right of your front bumper there's a plastic wall that can be removed/ripped out under your headlight. After this you can remove the factory plastic "jug" located directly below your air filter. Then I just bought some "4in dust collector hose" I recommend 3" and an attachment you can bolt to the lower aluminum part of the bumper..like an air catch that is behind the bottom slots of your front bumper. Then run the hose to the right and up directly below your air filter. After I did this it greatly improved throttle response and it feels like my torque increased. Hope it helps! I can make a short vid showing if you want. Also, I was going to make a heat shield but it's a super awkward space, so definitely make a video on it...maybe even throw out some measurements 😉

  • @realmechanicalstorm
    @realmechanicalstorm Před 3 lety +6

    Big thing you left out (unless it's later in the video): DO NOT let that steering column turn on its own. It could break the clockspring on the steering wheel. You did mark it so it's probably fine but I usually also zip tie it or secure the steering wheel somehow just so you don't bump it

    Good video but you don't need to remove the fuel pressure regulator or the evap hose ... Also remind everyone about the steering knuckle u joint and not to turn that wheel or you're going to the dealer to have the steering angle sensor reset also with a swivel head socket you don't need to pull the water pipe on the driver's side if you have patience... • @JamesDguy
      @JamesDguy  Před 5 lety +4

      Z33 Garage Thanks! I know about the gold tape I have done tests on my hondata with my Honda back in day and the heat wrap worked pretty good compared to heat deflection tape by 3 degrees. I had both and did test with both. They were true cold air intakes went to the bumper & temps were the same on both days and the heat wrap kept it a constant temp inside I believe it was 80 degrees in the pipe using the heat tape and I did 3 pulls from 40-120 it went up to 95. Did the test with header wrap just like the heat deflection tape and the overall temp was 92 after the pulls I’m guessing since it was trapped in it stayed more constant and didn’t wanna go up I even did a few more pulls after it never went up and it was a hott ass day. It has worked well for me in the past only reason I still do it. Might have to re do the test and record it :)

    Wrapping the intake with header wrap is a bad idea. Header wrap is meant to keep heat in the header for better scavenging so using it on the intake it will get hot from the exhaust and simply hold heat. I use dei be cool heat reflective wrap. Its meant to reflect heat away. I have been using it on all my vehicles and it makes a difference. You can get it in gold or silver, I have wrapped my air intakes on my Evo x mr touring, my sti, and my tsx. I did a before and after and there was a noticeable difference in power and temp dropped. Heat soak is common on infiniti g35/350z so any type of temp reduction u can do makes a difference.

      They tend to have clearance issues with the steering rack. If that’s the case you’ll have to hammer the header in. Won’t hinder the performance.
