The song is basically about the Americanization that takes place in all the other countries around the world. If you listen in the middle of the song, he says “this is not a love song, I don’t sing my mother’s tongue, as long” which translates to this being more of a stab at America, then a love song about how great America is. If you watch the actual music video, you’ll get a feel for sort of what they’re trying to say also. It shows remote tribes in Africa, eating hamburgers and pizza and wearing American products.
But at the end of the day, EVERYONE loves America, even if they don't wanna admit it. My Iranian buddy says in Iran, everyone does what Americans do. From stupid TikToks to the way we dress.
@@rigormortis428 yes, and that is exactly the problem. American imperialist actions, the subtle way of infiltrating and assimilating cultures until they are completely extinct. So much so that in the end, "we all live in America."
Rammstein is the only band that can openly criticize the Americans on stage and even get applause for it! Thats so absolutely insane! 😂 Pure Legend!

Rammstein may be great live, but their music video library is second to none. It might be tough, but watching their videos versus watching their live performances adds another layer to the experience of their music. Amerika's video definitely has their humor slathered all over it, and it makes listening to the song a lot more enjoyable, imo.
This is their original song and I guess you have heard it somewhere, Rammstein is big even in America.
Now, my advice for the future Rammstein reactions would be to do them with lyrics, because their lyrics are essential, if you ask me. They talk about pretty serious, important things, there are almost always double meanings, metaphors, playing with words...
Till is very calm, nice, shy guy and he used to be a professional swimmer. The one who was into wrestling is Richard, the guitarist you thought was Till at the beginning.
I've seen them live 5 times. Twice in Germany. They are top tier crazy live shows. Next to TOOL, one of the best acts I have seen live.
Lighting the torches in the midst of all that confetti floating around would have been crazy.
What I like most about Rammstein is that they sing in German. Germany's history is fractured and by extension, their musical history is as well. Blixa Bargeld has spoken about the sense of the bereft when it comes to German music post WWii. I love everything about Rammstein. The music, the look, the performance, but the uncompromising desire to sing in their own language carries on a proud post WWll roster of outstanding musicians. Long live Rammstein. Gehen ohne Angst.
the lyrics hint at america being a global presence not only due to their products being consumed everywhere and the american culture influencing everyone's life style so much( think about *the* american dream as a marketed product),
but also because of american politics interfering on such a global scale (to the extent of american politics forcing other countries into submission one way or another - "sometimes war")
during the song till says " this is not a love song - i don't speak my mother's tongue, no, this is not a love song" and if you dive into the lyrics, you will see the negatively connotated nuances of what is said about how america rules the world quite clearly:

i basically grew up listening to them in the 9o's and have seen them live many times from regular stages to stadiums since then - i adore their messages, their performances and dedication to their music, their art, themselves and each other a lot, they are literlly my heroes 🖤

In Rostock there is the Werner Lindemann School. Werner Lindemann was a very successful children's book author in the GDR and is the father of Till Lindemann. Till's lyrics are unique.

No knock on you guys, but it's a damn shame that so many folks keep reacting to the live version of this first, when especially through language barriers, the message gets across way better when watching the music video. So i highly recommend you guys to react to the music video as well. Btw. there's also a English version of it. So the lyrics aren't just translated but very different at points, it's also worth checking out and reacting to.
Lindemann was a swimmer, almost made the selection of the East German swimming team for the Seoul’1988 Olympic Games.
"Amerika” is, according to the band, a satirical commentary on Americanization and the misconceptions foreigners, as well as some Americans, have about the American utopia.
if you watch the official video to that song (a great one by the way), the meaning of the song will be clear.

The Völkerball Concert in Nimes, France is probably the most epic concert ever recorded in History. You should make more reactions to this concert. I watched it every Day for Years xD
They write Amerika with a 'k' because that's how it's written in Germany (and also the Netherlands and Belgium). Till is 6' tall, by the way.

The last, I was able to take my 3 oldest daughters to, and it blew them away.
The energy at their shows is off the charts!
I saw them a few months ago in a football (soccer) stadium in Coventry, here in the UK, it was incredible! Amazing shows!
Seeing Rammstein live is amazing! Hoping to catch them again later this year 🤘🏼
They returned to this venue in Nimes for 3 nights in 2017. I was there, and it was awesome.
I got to see the band live twice at an Australian music festival back in the early noughties called Big Day Out.
I've seen them once. And I've probably seen somewhere around 500 concerts in my life. Out of all those concerts, they're in my top 3 all time.
In scandinavia and germany, america is spelled with a k instead of a c.

Flake had to stop cruising around on stage with the Segway after he ran Till over with it in Sweden and injured his knee. Due to the injury, the tour had to be canceled at that time. Since then he has a treadmill under his keyboard.

There's even an official doctor's report describing Till's knee injury and advising him not to get on an airplane.
Check out Monster Truck. They are a Canadian rock band. Sweet Mountain River is a good song. Love the Maximum Overdrive shirt. Most of it was filmed in Leland and Wilmington, NC. The truck stop scene was filmed about 5 minutes from my house. The building for the gas station that the married couple went to is still there as a drive thru convenience store.

Hey guys, great reaction! For your next video you should check out Santana for some awesome latin style classic rock. My favorite song is "Samba Pa Ti" which is an instrumental track where you really get to hear Carlos Santana's ability to convey emotion through his instrument. I would put him on the same level if not higher than David Gilmore in that respect. They both have a way of making the guitar "sing". Cheers!

I believe this song (and other Rammstein songs) are bringing to light that most of the Western world focuses on American culture. American culture is the number one thing we export to the world. This is not viewed as a good thing. I believed this is the point of "I don't speak my mother's tongue" line.
There have always been cultures that in their times, dominated and left their mark all over the world - until today!
Like Egypt, China, Rome, Greece, Arab world, Germany, British Empire, USA, ... each had its time!

Love yalls reactions, literally going throuh your back catalog right now. Ok so im no piro-technician, but i think there was no fire on this song because of all the confetti. Fire + confetti = flying flames = a lot of death and distruction 🤔
With all that confetti in the air there was no way they could have had any pyro... it would have caused the confetti to ignite and the entire stadium would have gone up in a ball of fire!
