- Yes there is a shopping mall in Iceland! Located in Reykjavik just minutes from the city center and has lots of stores, cafes, pharmacy, liquor store, and a food court. In this video I walk through the mall showing you what stores are available, where to eat, and more. Plus my favorite pro-tip for a rainy day with kids - an indoor play area!

It’s nice to see a well-maintained, thriving mall. Here in the US, many malls are dying or dead, or shutdown and have been abandoned or demolished.
Visit the Philippines haha
There is also a really nice library where the also offer free coffee, can't believe you completely left it out!
Aside from that, really nice video.
That burger place next to domino’s have the best burgers I’ve ever had, get them everytime I go
Jeannie’s content has been on point! Getting a perspective from someone that actually lives in Iceland and is from the States gives travelers a great take on what you will need to be ready to travel there. Her tips were immensely helpful for getting around Iceland and making our trip stress free. We had a terrific experience on our time in Iceland!!
Wow! What an awesome mall. That was fun going shopping with you.
Your son is so adorable. He's always so happy.
The "slice of life" videos are indeed highly enjoyable! Thanks for making this 😁
This brings back aloft of memories in USA,CALIFORNIA that are slowly disappearing as malls are closing all over America because you can buy the sam thing on line for 40% to 60% less then mall's still is so-so sad UT great memories of yesterday's past they were just like ICELAND is now😢 lucky ur country still has them😂
I compliment you. So many go through an enlivening educational experience and take nothing from it. Clearly your mind is a sponge and your occupation is tour guide.
Thank you!
Great video! Any chance of seeing the inside of the Target-ish store?
Your little boy is a star❤ he's so cheerful and happy 😊xx
Yes, he is! Thank you!
If I went to Iceland and ended up there I'd lose my mind. Thanks for sharing though. Its interesting, seems mall culture is still a thing in Iceland.
Great mall, thanks for highlighting it. It was a lifesaver when I arrived in Reykjavik but my luggage didn't.... I went for the Hagkaup, but it was closed for renovation at the time. I still found everything I needed at fairly reasonable prices and was able to kick off my trip properly while I waited for my luggage to show up. Hagkaup, btw, became our favourite store during our travels. Great ready meals and our favourite chicken and sweet potato wraps. The one in Grandar was open 24 hours per day back then and was a quick stop before every day trip.
Absolutely LOVIN' IT!! Just found your channel. Your work on this channel allows me to "travel" without traveling ... all the way from Jerome, Idaho USA
Awesome! Thank you! So glad you are enjoying the content.
nice mall and not crowded👍🏼
I was just in this mall last week. The apartment we stayed at was a 5 minute walk away. It was a great place to pick up some stuff we forgot and a great first place for an "easy" dinner on our first night in Iceland. Thanks for sharing and I really like these everyday life things.
The burger store I believe used to be a McDonalds before they exited the market.
Great video with a complete view of this shopping place. Always a personal touch when people include family members. Way to go, Jeannie
Yes, malls would be ideal in Iceland since the weather isn't always the best.
Back in the ‘90s, Hard Rock Cafe was in the mall. The mall was always the place to go to get away from the base for awhile :)
Interesting video. I had no idea Reykjavik was so modernized. I have to watch some of ur other videos to see more of Reykjavik.
I remember really enjoying Kringlan the last time I was in Reykjavik. Looks like there have been quite a few updates since then!
My favourite place ❤ is Iceland I want to knew more about great video thanx
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the everyday videos. We will have to check out the mall when we get there... Some day.
That looks like a wonderful safe place to shop.
My husband and I started our Iceland adventure today. Similar to North Dakota weather in late fall, early spring :)
It opened back in 1987 and Smáralind in 2001. Before '87 there were no malls but there was Glæsibær near Skeifan and of course Laugavegur. Then Fjörður the small mall in Hafnarfjörður is nice. As Reykjavík grew from a town to a small city this is the result, Kringlan, agree, it has a certain charm
I saw an Icewear store, that is where I ordered my sweater and my wife's Christmas presents. !!!!
love the excited happy face when he got on the coat ! Cutie pie 🙏🏼🦄
Thanks!
Thank you for your videos ❤️⭐
Great video again! Kringlan is such a cozy mall! I went there a lot when I was living in Kópavogur, even though Smáralind was just less than 2 minutes walk from our place. Smáralind is nice as well, but it's just a giant empty corridor. Kringlan has more cozy corners. I was in the cafe downstairs one day when a magnitude 5+ earthquake happened. The whole building was shaking, but nothing really bad happened luckily. I usually took an electric scooter or public transport to get to Kringlan. It's easy to get there from most parts of Reykjavik, even if you don't own a car.
What's interesting is that if you convert the kronor to USD and then calculate the exchange rate for US and Canadian dollars, the prices in Icelandic kronor are pretty close to what they would be in Canadian dollars. Although a slice of pizza in a Canadian mall, in actual Canadian dollars without converting to another currency, would cost a fraction of what it would be in kronor.
As a Canadian who recently visited Iceland, it was very easy. I just omitted the last two digits to calculate the approximate price in Canadian dollars. I also found I didn’t need cash at all.
Looks extremely clean!
I was there! 😊 Can’t wait to go back!
Thank you for the tip on the pharmacy.
Get well stocked up before we arrive😊😊
Didn't get a chance to visit the mall the last time I was in Reykjavik but I am coming back in September! Yay!! Thanks for the sneek peek...😊
thanks for your vlog🍻🍻
Loving the videos! Have learned so much already for our upcoming trip. I was wondering if you could explain a little bit about parking in Reykjavic, such as parking garages, rates, how to pay, and so on. Thank you! Keep up the great work!
Happy video! Thanks for the smile!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Stopped in on our visit a week or so ago. It was somewhat quiet, but, very clean. Not exactly Roosevelt Field near us but definitely worth checking out on a rainy quiet day between mountain hikes.
Cool. Baby is adorable!
Thank you!
Hopefully will be come to Iceland for my PhD this video is really helpful 👌.
Thanks again - so looking forward to our visit next month. One Sunday we will be wandering Reykjavik for a few hours - what will be open on a Sunday morning and early afternoon?
When we visited a few years ago we debated whether or not to go to the mall. I kind of wish we did! Next time!
Very informative thank you. Two friends and I are heading to Iceland next January. It will be our first time there.
How wonderful! Keep watching my videos and check out my website for tons of planning resources ~ icelandwithaview.com ~ and you'll be prepared to have the best.trip.ever in no time! Happy planning!
@@IcelandwithaView Ho thanks I've subscribed. I'll watch many more of your videos. Were not going after all. Decided only four hours of daylight in January is not great. I'm sure we'll go at another time.
Nice video. Your son is beautiful and gorgeous too. He is a beautiful gorgeous little boy. Nice mall too. I will be immigrating to Iceland in the next couple of years and Reykjavik is the city in Iceland I will live in. I might meet you and see you when I come and live over there.
Thank you be in Iceland on the 15th July 23. Love these vids
Yay! Safe travels and I hope you enjoy your time in Iceland!
6:51 the helicopter i voiced!!!!
Nice mall
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤wow so beautiful
As a Norwegian who's bf is Icelandic, I've been to this mall numerous times as it is the closest as to were his parents used to live, I was quite disapointed with the malls they have. To my suprise I expected more. More as in terms of variation and brands, as Iceland has a lot of things we don't have here in Norway. I rarely shop anything while in Iceland tb.
Love your videos. StYed in down town Reykjavik in 2018 and fell in love with it. I am a pensioner and just love watching your visits to the shops. What is the health service like?❤
Great video! Do I need to visit Iceland?
I think you comment about how pricy it is a bit wrong. All of the Nordic countries are pricey but the earnings are also big. Dominos is actually cheaper in Iceland than in Norway. Living in a country with taxes is like this. But many cities such as London, Paris, Moscow etc are way more expensive too. In Indonesia beer and alcohol drinks costs more than in the Nordic countries. Just be careful ;) other than that.. nice video!
Ну это уже у меня в мыслях прочитали про Кринглан и нарисовали!
well as expected imported items are more expensive and that would cover a wide variety. Questions like : do Icelanders grow vegetable gardens? do they canned food?
Hey! I'm kind of new here. Would like to ask if your son speaks already, and whether he's picking up on some icelandic. If so, it would be lovely to watch it. Anyways, great channel! :)
My son is moving there next month and needs everything to furnish and supply a studio apartment. We plan to shop Costco and IKEA but is there an equivalent to Walmart for the smaller kitchen/laundry supplies?
Ricky Chan is actually Vietnamese. And sadly you totally ignored my absolute favorite store: Eymundsson, the bookstore. 😢
Wow nice very clean mall will 🪵 like vist❤
Visiting the mall is a great rainy day activity!
True and fun
6 bucks for a slice of pizza and that’s 💩y pizza! But that looks like a cool mall, nice to see everything isn’t under lock & key.
Thank you...food is so expensive!
It really is!!
I'm wondering about thrift stores or second-hand stores in Iceland.
Is there any shops that sell plus sized clothing - like equivalent to US sizes 16-26+
Please translate prices to American $. Love your tours.
Bacana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🍯🍫🥧🧁🍧🍩🎪🎪🎪🎪🚒🚒🚖🚖🪂🪂
Hi❤😍
This was so weirdly worded but of course you can get over the counter meds, just not all of the same ones as in other countries and you need to go to the pharmacy, not anywhere else. You can get Ibuprofen and paracetamol (acetaminophen) and other meds like anti histamines. Just not anything with codeine like some other countries allow.
Is there any Starbucks in Iceland?
Iceland has no Starbucks. Its coffee chain is Te og Kaffi, as shown in this video.
@@user-mrfrog I see…thanks!
Is it Euro they spend in iceland
I used to go at least 2-3 times each week to the Kringlan... but after they changed the hot food situation, closed "Stjörnutorg" and moved everything / opened "Kúmen" instead I no longer go there at all. Nope I have not gone to Kringlan since last summer... (2022) If I want to eat from "Rikki Chan" I now go to "Smáratorg" in "Kópavogur" Anything else I rather go to "Smáralind" even though I live in Reykjavík
Super Thanks and we need and wish 8K Photos or videos in Real Best 8K 60fps or 120fps HDR10+ resolution clarity quality and Sound in full HD 3D Stereo Surround , Soon Please.
I imagine American expats would find this location comforting.
Are you living in Reykjavik ?
So you have to see a dr to get ibuprofen?
you can get 400mg over the counter, but anything stronger than that you need to see a doctor
@@liljakaren97 dang no codeine no tramadol either I am guessing.
@@expertadvice4u nope, you need a prescription
Are you from states and moved to iceland? Became a citizen?
Hi there Chris! Yep, in 2015 my husband and I moved to Iceland as chiropractors. We aren't citizens yet but hopefully soon! Check out my website for more info about moving to Iceland: icelandwithaview.com/5-important-things-to-know-before-traveling-to-iceland/
@@IcelandwithaView I've been watching your videos and from whatvive heard hard to get citizenship and very interested in living there after military
@@IcelandwithaView Also love your videos great content and has definitely caught my attention...do you miss the US? I think only thing I'd miss would be my kids as I'd be coming by myself
Sbarro is everywhere.
What kind of stroller is that? Most strollers have reclined seats, but this one lets your son sit upright.
Where's björk
Name of mall?
Kringlan
Is that a joke? The title of the video literally mentions the name of the mall - Kringlan.
I used to be a mall rat 😂
There were NO malls when I lived there, no Costco, no supermarkets etc.
Hey Hagkaup is a supermarket 😅
That must have been in the early 1980s or before then.
Only see a few people
Malls in the US are dying! I haven't been to one in 2 years !
Coffee is expensive there
It's depressing to see how Iceland is changing for the worse. I remember when almost all of Reykjavik had a beautiful view. Now there are hideous big buildings on the seafront. And the downtown area is now just for tourists.
I remember when American malls were vibrant and a fun place to go, sadly so many are dying.
Appreciate the video, this makes it easier for me to to decide where to stay on my next trip. Also, just followed you on Instagram as well.
How difficult is Iceland if you only speak English?
Not difficult at all; almost everyone speaks English in Iceland! 🙌
Mall's destroyed all the small business.
I love going to the mall, especially on rainy days! I love small businesses too!
字幕と音声が合っていそうで全然合ってない😅
theres really no need to use your finger to point out things that we can clearly see better without your finger...fingers are so "yesterday" in youtube-ville....know what I mean?
What a nasty comment! It shows who you are....know what I mean?
BTW, fingers are okay. They help anyone watching on a small screen.
"fingers are so "yesterday" in youtube-ville....know what I mean?" - I heard that in my mind in a Valley Girl voice. Probably because it was a Valley Girl type comment.
