How wonderful to see your little guy sign “more”. The Costco looks pretty much like all the others. Thank you, great tour!
Thanks so much for watching!
Was just at our local Costco in San Antonio, Texas… while the layout is very familiar, the content is very different. Not at all surprising! I shall likely never be at a Costco in Iceland so this was fun! Glad to see your little guy enjoying the trip as well!
I wonder if he knows Icelandic.
How wild to see Costco in Iceland carrying almost all the same products we have in the US.
Thanks for a VERY informative look at life in Iceland, so enjoyable to visit another country through the eyes of someone who lives there!! Especially when I live in Albuquerque, NM USA
In the US I always go into Costco just showing my membership on my app. In Iceland I tried that, but I had to get out my actual card to be scanned. Not a big deal, but if you are used to using the app in the US make sure you bring the actual card.
Just returned from Iceland. Loved it. I went to IKEA on May 1 (Iceland Labor Day) and it was so packed. But I had the best meal there in the cafeteria. Went back the next day.
🤣🤣Icelanders love IKEA - Nordic design and affordable! And yes, just like the gas stations, IKEA provides great food at an affordable price!
Iceland is overrated. I don't know how people even live there.
Thanks 🎉 your baby is so well behaved ❤
Thanks! He's a doll!
Always love to see Costco's around the world. Layout is pretty much the same!! Got to go to the Maui one years ago!! Their meat is excellent, big packs that we break down & freeze.
Looks like a nice one! Your son signing “more” was just the cutest thing!!
How adorable and well-behaved is your child. Thanks for all the Iceland videos they're great👍
Thanks so much! 😊
@@IcelandwithaViewYou're welcome! 😎
Our local Costco here in Central Mexico is open between 10 am and 8:30 pm most days. The layout is pretty much the same here as this one. Our food court is outside, the tire service has an outside entrance and we also have a pharmacy
We made sure to leave time on the way to the airport to visit Costco. Filled up the rental car with gas, bought some big bags of Icelandic candy and got some socks. Fun going up and down the aisles to see what was different! Just like going to Costco at home except they did want to scan our card instead of just showing it.
Also, the “Costco Restaurant” is just called the food court. ☺️
Thank you for this video. You make tons of beautiful and informative videos. In the end, Costcos look to be pretty much the same everywhere. This video was really helpful for planning our trip to Iceland this summer.
Canned tuna. Kept us alive in our year on the road. I am bilingual in tuna ....learned to recognise it in any language. Lol. Great video..thanks
Pictures help too😳🤣🤣🤣
We just spent a week in Iceland (my second trip in a year) and I had no idea there was a Costco in Reykjavik! Great info for when we return for the Ring Road camper tour!!
Thank you for the good tips. We call it a food court where you buy a hot dog ect. It's interesting to see how your grocery stores are.
Would love more videos like this one also for us foreign residents :)
I remember passing by the Costco on my way to the airport, and I was like shocked to see it in Iceland
I’ll be there in two weeks and this was really helpful since it will be my first time visiting Iceland.
Love your videos, very helpful now since I am planning my trip in 10 days! Would be great to have a video comparing other supermarkets, I saw Netto, Bonus, ..
Thanks for this video! I'm going there in June and totally planning to hit up Costco now!
Things have changed since i was there in the late 80s right before beer became legal loved it there miss the people i made friends with and the lamd dogs and ysa
This is great! We will be in Reykjavik May 11!! Can't wait!!
great video thanks, definitely helps in the planning process
Your videos are really helpful! I'm traveling next month to iceland!!
This is so interesting! We love our US Costco and this looks so similar. People are nuts about the hot dogs and yogurt parfaits at the food court - we also love the fish and meat as well as the hot dogs. Your little boy is the sweetest! ♥️
It was fun to see what was the same and different at Costco compared to US. My eye caught the gelato! I’m envious!
Thanks so much for watching!
Jeanie I just wanna say thank you so much for showing us what costco looks like, I am heading there in august.. Thanks Again,
Your cute boy really likes those hot dogs! 🌭 Thanks for posting. Nice to see what stores in other countries are like.
I don't see myself ever visiting Iceland but I find your videos fun and interesting to watch anyway. Thanks.
Glad you like them!
Very helpful! Could you possibly do one for Bonus as well - I keep hearing that’s the place to go!
Yesss please!! Do Bonus!
You taught him the sign for "more". Well done 👏 ✔
This was so interesting and helpful.
My Daughter put together travel snack baggies, for the two of us, before we left for Iceland.
She used some of all of the dried fruits, nuts, seeds, granola & things that I had in the pantry.
A snack for the road she said.
I never touched it driving nor on the flight.
Every morning before we started our day, we ate Skyr with some of her hand blended trail mix on top.
What a great way to start the day.
When in Iceland Skyr is a great breakfast choice.
Peace.
Im in Australia. Can you tell me what Skyr consists of please?
I would love to see more movies of your ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE SON!!!
Cool you guys drive on the correct side of the road and your steering wheel is on the correct side. 👍
So informative! Also, your son is so cute!!
We are glad to know that there is Costco in Iceland. We will definitely stop by to get the essential foods before making the Golden Circle in Iceland in June. How was the Costco hot dog tasted comparing to at the Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur in Reykjavik? BTW, the place at Costco that sell Pizza, Hot Dogs, etc. is called FOOD COURT in the U.S.
Can't believe you can get Cretor's Popcorn. One of favorites!
Australian Licorice how interesting . Great films editing and music. Loving your channel.
I’m packing a bong for this one. I love Costco. I was there for lunch today. 🇨🇦🥶👽
I’ll never get to beautiful Iceland or anywhere out of the USA so thank you for these 🙏👍
Thank you so much for your videos. Are helping a lot planing my trip. What about fresh food to eat in the moment? I don't see much in your bonus and Costco videos. Also the hotdogs have always a vegan option?
The star of the vid is that super cute little boy! It's so neat that your Costco has about 5% of the people volume ours has here in CA USA.
If you're from the UK it's basically the same. We were staying in hotels during our stay so didn't buy much just some snacks for the car or if we got stuck. Skyr, drinks which we couldn't finish and gave away, chocolate, fruit etc. The fuel was much cheaper. Yes you need a Costco membership to shop there and the card can be used worldwide. If you don't have to go, apart from fuel, I wouldn't bother. It was the novelty for us.
This is SO helpful! Thank you ❤
You're SO welcome!!
Looks like the perfect place to load up on pickled herring!
Thank you for this great video! I live in Sweden (Stockholm) and the first Costco store in Sweden will open here in Oct 2022. I'm looking for good videos to introduce friends to Costco, and yours being closest to Scandinavia will be great. Hope you can come over here some day and visit the city of Stockholm 😄
Facinating! I just shopped at our Costco today in Denver Co. First thing I noticed on your video is how amazing the displays are,The stock people employees line up product like it's set up with a ruler! Second thing I noticed is that your people don't fill up the carts to the fullest overflowing like us greedy americans! Me included! I'm getting ready for Thanksgiving here and need a TON of stuff!
Golden kiwi is awesome!
IKEA and Costco next door, what fun! Good video!
Yes! Thank you!
So cool. I’ve been watching you for months before going to Iceland and I was in here 2 days before you. Wish I could of saw you 😢
Hi. Jeanie, this is Tim T. We love to watch your videos about living in Iceland. We are planning a trip to Iceland in end of September, can you give us any advices for prepping our trip. Like weather in September or what kind of season clothing should we be packing during our trip. Thank you
Do you do container gardening for your herbs & veggies? Many things can be grown inside.
love seeing different costcos. the Salt Lake City one is the biggest, but going anywhere, even if your city has multiple like mine does (7-8 I think where I am) differences just based on demographics of what's sold. or in Costa Rica they have a similar place- I think owned by Costco, and it's many of the same products
Hi !thanks for info...
It's that right ,they have only one kind of chese?
So cute eating the hot dog!
Are there butane fuel canisters for camping stoves in that Costco? Thanks.
Coming in June, do you think Costco will still carry few winter coats and stuff?
Ahww! 😯 such a cute baby if only we new who the momma is. 😯 just picking at you Jennie. 😄 trying to make you laugh.😄 you are a great mom with lots of love and affection. 😯😊
That is the shortest Costco gas line I have ever seen. Usually it’s at the San Ysidro port of entry.
Thank you for the video I work at Costco in San Diego California
Could you do a video on the flee market. It is one of my must stops when I visit Iceland. I was in Iceland last July Aug and I bought a waffle maker there for 10 us dollars. There is something special about waffles in Iceland. I joined you at the brewery a few years ago. Went there last year and they no longer make there own beer. The other special thing in Iceland is there Ice cream. Next is the cholate. Get the salted carmel. Best place to get fuel is Costco. Thank you Ben
Do they have much organic and whole coffee beans? We will heading there in two weeks. Thank you
Im hoping to move to Reykjavik soon (ive only lived in Akureyri in Iceland before this), would it be worth it to get a costco membership for one person or is it cheaper to stick to bonus and netto?
Thanks for the informative video. Just returned from Iceland and visited Costco and prior to visiting in person had little information based on the videos of others.
During the trip I enjoyed having individual duvets since my GF uses our large one like a burrito and I am left with nothing. They have multiple options of duvets and organic and bamboo duvet covers that we put ina vacuum bag and brought home.
They also have hiking poles, tights, and other useful items in the area near the clothes.
The brands are mostly from Europe, so same items from a different country have ingredients to watch out for if you have allergies. The raw cured UK bacon was a big hit and reason enough to get a place with a kitchen. Skyr was a great price and if you do not have a fridge storing outside can keep it cool 😎
I just saw your post for the first time today and I love it, please can you do videos for people that want to move permanently or for school, example accommodation videos, first things to do while there and lots of grocery haul. It will be much appreciated. Thank you
Check out this article about moving to Iceland, you may find it helpful: www.icelandreview.com/ask-ir/how-can-i-move-to-iceland/?mibextid=Zxz2cZ
Thank you ❤❤
So does food have a longer time before expiration date at Costco then at local grocery stores in Iceland??
17:23 And then you can go across the street and get some furniture for your trip at IKEA! 😊
That is "bulk" buying for sure 😃was wondering if the Kiwifruit gets imported from New Zealand as I am watching your videos from the Bay of Plenty region in NZ, Kiwifruit Capital of the world 👍You got to say Kiwifruit though as the "Kiwi" is our national bird😂
Looks like we're also getting our first Costco store later this year ! Have a great day......
Very interesting thank you. I kept wanting you to fill your cart lol
With all that distance that food is shipped to Iceland. Here in Canada, small town in BC, we generally pay more for our food.
Could you please answer the question about whether they carry the fresh rotisserie chicken like in the U.S.? Thanks for making this helpful video.
They sure do, Tricia! And, it's just as delicious!
Cool a Costco were you can actually shop with out heavy 🛒 traffic 😅
We were just in Iceland in September and I can say that everything she references is 100% accurate. Funny story about the "Alcohol" part of the store. Unlike the US stores you can't by your alcohol at this "Costco". I didn't realize this and went into the '"Alcohol" area (it's a separate room in the store). As I was walking around a lady (employee) comes rushing in asking me for my retail papers (She wanted some kind of a license that proved I was an seller of Alcohol). I told her I just had my membership and I wasn't selling any, I just wanted to purchase for my own consumption and she said "Not allowed", resale only. I asked her if I could at least take a picture of the "area" as it looked quite interesting and different from the "Costco" back home and she said NO....
That would be me down to asking for the picture. Thanks for saving me from the disappointment!
typical of provincial people on a small island
typical of provincial people on a small island
Wondering, as typical refrigerators there are very small, where does one store all these large qualities perishables?
Thanks Jeanie
I literally just bought a pack of the same exact blueberries at my local Walmart for about $1.77
Iceland Costco opened in 2017. Costco's can be found in over a dozen countries so far.
Hi from America...the area where you can buy a hot dog or a slice of pizza is called the FOOD COURT. ;)
Do you know where to buy rice cooker ? Thanks
Wow the meat and fish look way better than my Costco, I’m jealous.
Do they have optical department, hearing and pharmacy?
Is it necessary to have a club card for Shopping
I definitely want to make a trip to Iceland within the next handful of years. Maybe it will be a honeymoon trip, maybe just a trip in general. I do know I'd definitely stop by Costco for the bulk trip foods like fruit/veggies, tortillas, cheese and skyr plus the all important snacks for simple meals put together in a camper van. Supper glad that Iceland has a Costco.
Can you buy a Costco membership at the store in Iceland if you dont already have a membership and atent a resident of Iceland?
Wow! No crowd in Iceland! You are lucky. In Canada, the parkings and the stores are always crowded!
On the weekends Costco can get pretty busy, especially because they have the cheapest gas in the city!
Is the Kirkland Turkey Jerky in the Iceland Costco?
Question- In the USA they have plastic utensils. You can cut up the hotdog into small bites for a small child. Or also helps the food to cool down faster. God bless!
The baby!!!! Gah!!! 😍😍😍
Do they give samples as they do in the US?
It looks exactly, like a carbon copy, of the Costco here in Omaha, NE .... wow!
I spent nine days in Iceland last October. We rented an Airbnb in Kopavogur. We did not shop at Costco but if we had stayed longer, we would have. We did visit the three big grocery stores: Bonus, Kronan and Haugkaup. I would have to say that Kronan, the mid range store, had the best selections for the fairest prices. Bonus is like shopping at Aldi and Haugkaup is more like shopping at Whole Foods in The USA. Each has its place. We shopped at Kronan and Bonus mostly. It is fun to shop with the locals and watch what they buy!
Great video! Why is there no Costco in Italy?
When I visit Iceland in August I'll likely hit up the Costco there, but first, I need to know: does this location have the flagship food of Costco? I.e., the rotisserie chicken? :D
I get this huge tub of pine nut hummus from costco that's really good. And they have a pickle flavored dip that my wife loves. Overall their food is pretty awesome.
Hello Jennie, about how long Costco been in Iceland if you don't mind me asking? I do.believe there use to be a McDonald's too a good while back. It's is a very complicated process when an American company open up shop abroad lots of bureaucracy involved and the people of that country must be acceptable of the company.😯 very rewarding to see American companies in Iceland. 😯😊
you have more and larger watermelons than we have here in rural central Arizona and they grow right down the road lol
I am wondering where the solar greenhouses are ? I had heard there was great food in Iceland because of giant solar greenhouses . But from all I have watched on yours and other channels the fresh food is not great . Can you do a video on the greenhouses?
Are you allowed to make kit beer or kit wine instead of paying retail for it
