I don't think people appreciate, what a bloody good Rep Finchy is.
The line "Is it?" after she says pathetic, my sister and I have spent the best part of 15 years saying that in that tone to each other because of this show. Pure gold.
We don’t believe you.
Lol me and my oldest do the same 😂 pathetic 🤣
We believe you.
It’s great isn’t it! Brent is just such an eel when it comes to any smidge of responsibility lol
I feel most of the time my husband and I communicate in quotes from The Office and The Inbetweeners!
Gareth checking his watch is utterly sublime 😂
Yes - just tat added extra touch of character. The joke works without it, but why not stay perfectly in character as well? What would Gareth do in these circumstances? He would check his watch to make sure he was still synchronized with the SAS
I'd not noticed that before 👍
It was ad libbed by Mackenzie Crook according to a doc I watched about the programme.
Yes, you're right, it was his free-style. Love that! @@Self1313
"Has anyone got the right time?" Kills me everytime 😂
Never stops being funny! I just watched the last minute 5 times and I still crack up! 🤣
{:o:O:}
1:24 Gareth genuinely took that as a compliment when Tim says he’s got his “best man on the case” and gave a look to say “see, TOLD you I have this skill set”. Never noticed this before. Brilliant.
I love the way Brent stares at the phone at the end implying it’s the phones fault it dialled the speaking clock.
Bloody phones.
Brilliant comment.
The acting and script are quite incredible. There's never been a show like it since
I was prompted to revisit it since Ewen Macintosh died (RIP Big Keith! My favourite Office character) and it's remarkable how nuanced it was. It was just as much social commentary and psychological study as it was an innovative and experimental comedy show.
"Dont go to the warehouse then!"
"Dont tell me where I can and cant go in my own company!"
"Advice..."
Subtle humour which is so good is Brent is absolutely delighted that Chris Finch referred to him as his best mate, he perks up massively when he hears that. Show his desperation to be liked.
I love Garreth checking his watch is right
Nah, he’s looking at his watch to check that the speaking clock is right.
haha you're probably right
Yes, that subtle touch totally in character, brilliant!😂😂
LMAO first time I ever noticed that after all these years. The subtle details are what makes this show.
Brent: Case closed.
Gareth: Shouldn't I say that, 'cos it was my investigation?
😂
Actually, wasn't it Gareth's 'invetigation' if memory serves?
@@soots-stayingoutofthespotl5495, yes of course (one of the discarded signs he wrote read, 'Gareth Keenan Investigates' 😂), but it's still funny he felt he had to mention it in this moment.
You've missed my point Frank! I thought you might get the reference if you look closely at what I wrote. When you next watch it, note the discarded signs and listen to what Tim says when he asks Gareth how it's going.
@@soots-stayingoutofthespotl5495 , ah sorry, yeah I was tired and didn't read it properly.
One small four and a half minute segment, and all of it is comedy gold.
American office could never capture the subtle details of the uk version
People can like what they like, but I genuinely feel sorry for people who, for whatever reason, can't see and acknowledge what you said - they are truly missing out on an experience that cannot be duplicated, as not everything can be......Like ketchup: oh, it might be really nice - but if it's not Heinz, then it's just not Heinz: and, if you've ever actually had Heinz, you'll immediately be able to tell.
Americans just arent funny in general
I know its NOT ALLOWED but I've greatly enjoyed both versions of the show. Could it be because there is more than one style of humour? No need to feel sorry for anyone, plenty of subtlety in the American version.
As an independent arbiter, not American nor British, the British version is just bad. The US version is hilarious. Sorry the rest of you guys don't understand, but I'm glad you get a mild chuckle out of this.
stop congratulating yourself on liking a tv show you saddo
Bloody good rep, can’t risk losing him.
The funny thing is this is so accurate in the real world.
I’ve seen our management change their tune when they find out it was their favourite guy. One rule for you and another rule for them.
@@notmenotme614The way of corporate life really. If a person is smashing his job, he gets away with a lot of stuff.
This type of scene is what separates the two versions. The emotions and sentiment cannot be replicated in the US show.
I love Brent’s relationship journey with Finch. From seeking a sniff of just a glimpse of friendship acceptance from Finch to telling him to do one in the Christmas special. Brilliant.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, except people who say the American version is better.
Edit. Or woke people.
What are they thinking?
Yep the Finchy arc is sheer brilliance that finally reveals the core of a decent person in Brent.
@@michaellavery4899the American version is better for those that don’t understand the British version.
@@windyhillbomberOr as a addition to the UK version.
Like how covers of songs can be nice. Not to compete but as an addition, a tribute.
how can 11 series based on the jokes of 2 be superior to the original UK series.@@michaellavery4899
Bloody good rep.
I like the way Tim says ‘he’s your best mate’ and that resonates with Brent and back peddles. That’s really one of the things he’s ever wanted.
😂😂😂"So has anyone got the right time?" 🔥
Gareth looking at his watch to confirm the time 😂
He is a (territorial) army man.
just gold isnt it !
Apparently that was an ad-lib.
@@medalion1390 seems doubtful considering the cam zoomed out allow him to be in shot

Jennifer! What a stunningly beautiful woman that is! She just steals the whole scene, after 20 years I still cant take my eyes off her! 😅

She is absolutely beautiful 😊
If I were Brent, I'd have stuck to my guns: "Well you're responsible for your computer and you shouldn't have let him use it for this knowingly. Don't let it happen again. I'll also be talking to Finch at a later date." He shouldn't have let them crowd him!
They fazed him.
Then it wouldn’t make a funny scene for a comedy show
Floppy disks.. Ahhh what a time to be alive!
The little look into the camera after he says "your taking the piss" is gold.
Quickly went from, "...porno laughs are not funny", to, "...uh, err no, it is, that was never in question... I think it's *bloody* hilarious". 😂
Let's not dwell on it
The warehouse was like the pits of hell
Watching Dave Bent is like seeing something horrendous that you can't stop looking at. His cringiness and the awkwardness he has on other people is hilarious.
Bent?
For a moment there, Brent came across as normal. 😂
He was actually gaining everyone's respect when he was going in on Tim..And then he crumbled
Legend has it that Finchy moved to the states and started a small farm with his wife and children. I even heard that his eldest daughter was a witch
He was apparently also raiding the northern castle with his pirate colleagues
He also betrayed Theon Grayjoy at the siege of Winterfell.
They say he liked Theon’s speech but still bonked him on the head at the Coventry conference
I heard Finchy invented the number 12.
Yeah but she was a bloody good chess player.
Tim: Woah, woah-woah, Columbo here figured it out, did he?! Well yeah, sorry, I must be guilty if you've got your best man on the case. 😂
every scene perfection
Brent is at risk of actually being a human being, & a boss, until he cowers again at the mere mention of Finch.
The look on his face when she says "don't have the guts" shows that before the cameras arrive, he wasn't bad at his job.
And to think Finchy ended up as a narrator for an antiques program.
And the voice of Dacha cars. Also in movies.
And Gaviscon
I’m not surprised. Bloody good rep.
IQ of 142
They don’t make em like that anymore😂
always loved the way he threw the staff under the bus every time he was in shuck! Ego was too ego to take the hits.
Why can't we have comedy like this nowadays? It is absolutely brilliant.
Because nowadays everyone gets offended by something/anything/everything and we can't have that can we?
We’ll never see comedy like this again because the western press dragged us into 1984.
@@nedmerrill6228 People who say that frequently have no idea what the book 1984 is all about, but okay.
@@philiphunn194 People who say it’s not like the book didn’t understand it but that’s ok. There are many people who don’t understand it.
Porno laughs, are not funny
That whispered apology is classic.
Awww, the small things i miss lije the speaking clock ⏰️ 😊
8081. And 16 for dial a tune.
Gareth checking his watch 😅
Chris Finch!… Bloody good Rep!…
The worm of all worms
Haha. The following scene where he goes back into his office with Jennifer is left to our imagination. I can only guess that he explains his actions away by saying what a bloody goog rep Chris Finch is and to lose him over such a trivial issue would be bad business.
Porno laughs 😂😂
O, Taffy phoned from the warehouse. He's got another funy video for ya.
fanny
Damn, I guess that I have to go and re-watch the entire series now!
Has anyone got the right time. Hilarious
Bloody good rep
I times watching this scene (took me ages) to hearr the time is 4:21 and 50 seconds at exactly that point. I feel Great
Finchy quit soon after and moved to the Iron Islands
The thing is he received absolutely zero consequences for this, despite piling on lie after lie because his ego can't take it
He got made redundant shortly after. He was digging his own grave.
I can't bear the pain watching this
Let's have a laugh, at work, with women at us, if anything.... inspirational ❤️
I cant even look in the direction of US the office.
They’re both brilliant
@@noahport3314 The US version is a cartoon compared to this.
Stirling Gallaghar though.
I agree. Milfy as. But watch out for the Simp Patrol on here coming for you

Fantastic 😂
Bloody good rep tho
I wish David fired Chris for real.

It a shame this classic went to America and got ruined 😂
Yeah otherwise this pile of hot garbage would never be known of.
Let's just all forget that thing ever happened.
Chasing the yankee dollar
Jennifer, Dawn and the other girl who’s name I forget. Some serious talent in that office.
Edit: Rachel from Swindon too.
*Donna, her smirk at 3:27 is DANGEROUS
Get out
Get out, now
I will not have her tunnel bandied around this office , Willy nilly!
The “other girl”, Donna, is the wonderful Sally Bretton who went on to star in “Not Going Out”.
Brents boss is a fox
There is some weird background noise that keeps repeating @2:43
is it?
Aaaargh tough to watch…… 😂😂.
Thank God for David Brent. Without him we wouldn't have actual humour like the real version of The Office.
Sssssssss.....sorry about that 😆😆
Surely Tim should have been invited into Brent's office to be confronted in this way? But then, that wouldn't have got so many laughs. Contrived? I would never speak such a word where this comedy gold is concerned.
Is she in charge .. ?
Colombo
"Porno laughs, are not funny!"
It was on a way a glimpse into the future with crazy crazy p.c ,they behave like naughty achoolboys which make it extra funny
I used to watch this show over a weekend a couple of times a year. Then I fell in love with the US Office and struggle to watch the original because it is so painfully cringe. But this just brought back so many memories. Thanks.
Who else has seen this filth?
Porno laughs are not funny 😂😂
I can’t believe they made a british version of the office.
Shit bait
So weird they did, innit?
Thanks, Ted Lasso
That's it get out.
Yes they did it before copying Americas Got talent and House of cards too
It would be extreme to fire someone for such a joke unless it was a repeated behaviour which he had already been told not to do. edit: Extreme, but all too normal these days. This era is more censorious than the McCarthy Era or the first Red Scare; there are data to support that.
Using company property to produce vulgar pictures using someone's likeness? HR would be frothing at the mouth
Thanks Finchy!!
@@troywright359 Bearing in mind that we are living in the era of cancel culture where people are being fired by know-nothings for saying "niggardly", or for typing "everyone's life matters" on Facebook. The show was made circa 2001 when things were quite different culturally. In any case, it would be over the top to fire someone while ignoring 1. The nature of the joke between coworkers, and 2. Whether it was a repeated policy violation. Chris Finch *did* seem like the repeat offender type...

In Britain wrong is the opposite of right. In USA left is the opposite of right. In the office twonk is the opposite of right. (True story).
The problem with David Brent is that he is a truly nasty person. Michael Scott is a loser but even when he is behaving badly he deep down knows it's wrong and has some regret. You can feel a little sorry for him like you would a small child but David seems incapable of decency. Frankly, he's creepy and gross. You might laugh at his character but you are never on his side.
Great stuff. From back in the days when the BBC made comedy that was funny. Not unfunny woke crap like today.
Dawn is very irritating at times repeating herself like a broken record
She's like some of the women I've met at work. Nightmare
Grasser!
Porno laughs are not funny. 😂
Why is British humour so on the nose? The subtlety of the US version is what made it so great. I appreciate Brent for his contribution, and his standup, but the US writers took it far further comedically.
What planet are you on??
This is great satire! Subtlety of US anything...hahahahahaha
That's a good one Chuckles. Nearly had me there.
