GoPro Hero 11: 8:7 Aspect Ratio in details

- New 8:7 sensor gives you quite a lot of flexibility when creating content with your GoPro camera as you can use the same video file as a horizontal or vertical video. It is really useful when you want to upload a video to youtube or your social media and you don't want to decide what which platform you need to record for in advance.
Aditionally Hero 11 8:7 sensor capture such tall perspective that you can use the extra view to frame your shot and fix your composition when adjusting it for 16:9 frame. The field of view is pretty tall so it's easier than ever to capture exactly what you want.
Please remember that 8:7 aspect ratio is only available for GoPro Hero 11 Black and GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini and this new feature is only available in 5.3k 30/24 fps or 4k 60 fps.

Great video but I have a question still, I’m new to GoPro at all and I like to post on social media and also 19:6 on CZcams. Can’t I film in 19:6 all time and when I want to post on social I simple change it to 8:7 with the GoPro quick app?

Thanks for the video. I will use GP12 mainly for MTB POV. I only want 16:9 as an end result, but I always need to decide Wide/SV/HV. But as I understood it right I can just use 8:7 and chose the digital lenses in post? Is there really no difference between digital lenses in quick and GP12 itself?

I think it's great for people who shoot content for social media and other platforms👍It's definitely nice to have. I personally rarely use it though. I only post my videos on CZcams and mostly shoot in 5.3K, linear and 60 fps. That setup is unfortunately not available in 8:7.
Yea if you record lots of cinematic then linear and horizon leveling is a must have too :) i must do a video about that horizon leveling vs max lens mod one day hmm.....
What's the best resolution you can get in 8:7?
@@h_arout3920 you can get 5.3k but only at 30fps and with wide angle of view, you can't use linear.
U can only use 5.3k or 4k in 8:7

Hello, I have a few questions. I have a gopro 11 and when I shoot in hdr and take a series of pictures again, the gopro blocks the photo processing.???
Sorry Cile honestly.i havent even taken a singlr HDR photo with 11 and only took RAW photos, i suggest you forward that issue to support and they might either releade a firmware or perhaps you should restore your camera.to.favtort settings ?? That can fix many issues
I noticed 8:7 doesn't offer hyperview. How does the perspective of 8:7 wide compare with 16:9 hyperview? If I wanted to export to 9:16 with maximum field of view, would I use 16:9 hyperview, or 8:7 wide?
With just a gopro 8:7 is fine for 9:16 on hero 11 , wiyh gopro 12 i would ezperimebt with max lens mod 2.0 and 9:16

It's basically a sub 1:1 ratio. Technically, 1:1 should provide a superior image real estate than 8:7. Why would GP offer an 8:7 but not 1:1, is beyond me..
8:7 is the full sensor. So they would have to crop the image to get 1:1 which would be inferior.

Honestly to be 100% precise , i just rendered it all in gopro app :)
Not for me vertical mount for the win. Firstly can't use higher fps so no slow mo shots and then you don't get too much coverage only 13% more. The verticle mounts shots will still be at the top compared to 8:7. Plus no horizon lock.
I wish i had more time to compare the two.:)

Tak tylko unikaj 4:3 linear bo na gorze i dole obrazu będziesz miał konkretne zakrzywienia / wydluzenia obrazu, tak Sami jack ustawisz linear I zaczniesz dopasowywac kadr to Lepiej linear zostawic jaki jest
Szczerze mosaic jack chicest konkretnie nagrywac pod cinematic look to najlepiej jest odrazu w linear nagrywac , Ustaw sobie ta sobie ta siatkę i zachowaj zasadę 3 kompozycji , tak jest najlepiej

Super view and hyper view feel wider because all that tall aspect ratio is digitally sqeeshed down and stretched on the sides but it’s ok for 16:9 only

Yes :) u can have any field.of.view when using 8:7

Not yet, as far as i know they are still.making it and testing, i cant wait to.get a floaty for mininas instan up.padle board and its a must have ^^

I constantly use mini for pov , that 20 g difference maybe doesnt sound like a lot but it does make tbe difference

8:7 is the best thing GoPro could do. So much better
It allows to record a really tall perspective there is one particular angle on skateboard that allows me to.capture my entire body even thoug the camera is mounted to the board ^^
