Bro this video is a 10/10
Thank you A LOT for saving me from testing it all
😎🙌🏼
Der Beste Kanal auf CZcams wenn es um GoPro geht! Dankeschön!
Thanks so much for the awesome video! A lot of other videos on the 11 Black kind of gloss over the 8:7 ratio, which to me is the most significant feature. Being able to shoot for multiple platforms at the same time is a huge plus. You did an incredible job going over a lot of the use cases and caveats. Super helpful! Thanks!
Great demonstration on the differences . I’ve been trying to figure this out for shooting Instagram reels and CZcams shorts. Thanks so so much for this video.
You’re welcome! 😊
Holy cow, thank you so much for this informative video!!! I was on the look for a deeper dive into the 8:7 feature. This was just what I was looking for.
welcome! glad to help !
I love this video man. Out of all the videos I watched concerning my new gopro hero 11, this one was the most useful. Keep it up!

Thank you!! Enjoy your 2023! 🙌🏼
Příteli. Seš velmi chytrý a máš skvělé nadání vysvětlit lidem že formát 8:7 je geniální i přes zdánlivá omezení. Velmi dobré video.
Hi Mitch. First Happy New Year to You. Thx for sharing your expertise. Yes this is a major feature for the Gopro 11. As usual you did relate pretty well all technical considerations to help us to have the best possible results..😉👍
Good to hear!
Thanks for this video!! Sounds like I need a Hero 11!! 🤘🏻✨✨✨

Muy bueno el vídeo . Que programa usas para la edición mitch??
This is gold
🙏🏼
Dude this was agreat video!
I didn't realize I had to set the camera to be 8:7 in order to get the best vertical (9:16) FOV, so thanks for showing that in this video
Very Good 👏
Very good presentation bro
The best Gopro Creator 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Aww thank you Edgar! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Happy new year 2023 from England Scott and Teresa

Saludos de México mic feliz año nuevo
Thank you for this video! I didn't even know this was a feature, very tempted to upgrade my Hero 5 to the Hero 11 now. 😀
oh yeah, 11 would blow your mind compared to 5
Fantastic video, Mitch! I was struggling to figure out why I needed 8:7 on my GoPro, and how I can use it. This video helped clear it up for me.
Super long time fan of the channel, and I think this is the first time I've ever commented on a video!
Thanks Zak! Awesome glad to help you out!
Brilliant
Wow that is amazing 😻😻😻
Thanks Sanjay!
Great video! Can you change the lens for 9:16 into super view in the Quick App to get more in the frame? I just want to clarify that
Good job bro
Thank you so much 😀
thanks a lot from Russia
00:01:58 is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks a lot!
Great video! I am just curious about 8:7, how much can you zoom in from a 5.3K to a 1080 vertical video for social media? I know you just zoomed in until it became a 9:16, but what if the subject is a little bit further away, and you want to zoom in more from the 8:7. so im curious what is the MAXIMUM "zoom scale" in percentage can you do with 8:7 to 9:16 before it goes down below 1080p? 🤔
Um feliz ano novo 🎉🎊 boas festas felicidades 🎉
Hey, do you recommend to shoot only horizontal videos while using 8:7 ?
Excellent explanation. I have been really impressed with full sensor - IMO, cropping down to even 16:9 from 8:7 gives as good a view as Superview has traditionally done!
Totally agree!
@@MicBergsma thats so cool, I am a FPV Pilot travelling South East Asia...I really should have gotten a Hero 11 and made it naked before my journey started, but I was not aware of the 8:7 and my Journey already started in the beginning of november...but I do commercial Realestate and Villa etc shootings here, so the 8:7 would have been so amazing, I ordered now one, but its a hard time to get everything here to Koh Tao and also the Naked Case and BEC...lets see :)
Thank you so much😅
No problem 😊
COOL! Now I really wanna get one. .. I'll be clicking your link if I do!
So far I love the 11! Awesome thanks for your support Dave!
Perfect 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks for the videos. Do you use Quik App lens feature before import video into Final Cut?
No problem! Yes I use Quik App lens feature before import to FCPX 👍🏼
ty bro :)
Welcome Haydar!
Hi Mich, I have a question regarding a gopro 11 mini the I recently bought. Is there a way to change the format that it records in. My computer is struggling to process the footage. I've looked in the menu and can't find an option to change it. TIA Bernie from along time ago.
I wonder why GoPro didn't implement 8:7 in 4K 30fps. I really wanted that. My Laptop struggles to play 5.3K. So, I have to shoot in 4K. I really don't want to shoot in 60FPS as the battery dies sooner compared to 30fps. Also, 30 fps, you know.. Cinematic!! I wish they add 4K30 8:7 soon.
Great video, btw!
Apart from your great video I wanna say you have a nice Naish board too!
Hey, thanks!
What editor you use to rescale de videos
Thanks for the video. Do you recommend shooting everything in 8:7 and then reframe the desire ratio? What do you think about losing horizon lock in 8:7?
Anytime! No, I like using 16:9 most of the time. I don’t post vertical videos much, but if I want to post IG reel or CZcams shorts then I will set at 8:7.
What editor tool did you use when you show cropping of 8:7 videos into vertical? Nice vids!
Final Cut
Name of the software? Thanks
Hi Mitch!
Is there any disadvantage in always filming on 8:7?
Thanks in advance!
Consumes more storage. Probably, battery backup too!
Hey great video, one question does the quality get compromised after editing the video from 8’7
Hey, no quality loss 👍🏼
That depends on the crop factor. If you zoom/crop in, then yes, there will be some quality loss.
Hey there, do you know if you can still use horizon lock when using 8:7?
Hey, nope only in 16:9
What configuration is better for ig history clips, 8:7 or 16:9 with camera in vertical?
If you already know you'll be posting on IG, go straight with vertical orientation. It'll save you time in post.
What is the name of the software that you using when showing the cuttings??for eg 5:12
FCPX
Great stuff, as usual. My thing is, I HATE vertical video. I know it exists because people are addicted to their phones and can't be bothered to turn the thing a quarter turn. With vertical, I always feel like I am missing so much that is happening all around. I feel like I am sneaking a peek at something through the gap between two slats of a fence. I'll get off my soapbox now. Thanks for another great video and wishing much success to you and Lori in this new year! Mahalo
With the new sensor you'll be surprised at how much FOV you still get cropping down to either 16:9 or 9:16 (or any variation between).
@@T4nkcommander I will have to play with it sometime. It is on the list of things. I have the 11 and had no reason to also buy the Mini 11 until - dang it- Mitch convinced me in one of his videos. There are probably 8 or 9 things I have bought thanks to his thorough reviews. Cheers
I agree! Vertical video sucks.
@Pete R Same here, never a fan of vertical video! At least with 11 can have both by using 9:16 format
@@MicBergsma You know, our eyes are horizontal, TVs are horizontal, I remember when local news was begging people who submitted video of news events to turn their phones and shoot horizontal but they finally gave up because folks were too lazy. Sheesh. Love ya man.
Does he reply?? And yeah I’m trying to shoot verticals I have a 90 degree mount but maybe I will just shoot in 8:7 now! I’m still trying to figure everything out
Yes 8:7 will work 🙌🏼
@@MicBergsma great! I’m going jet skiing tomorrow. Got the chesty mount and I guess I’ll run 8:7 and also do some 2.7k 120 too
GoPro 12 có rồi 2023 🥰
👍
hola puedes dejar la opción de subtitulo
if I turn on the auto generated subtitles it won't undersand my speaking.. and from I know it would only translate in my default language ( English ) anyways :(
This works also for gopro11?
Yes, starting with GP11 and onward.
👌👌👌👌
Any one know how to do this with the hero 8 ?
You can't. This feature is only available from GP11 and onward.
what frame rate do you prefer?
depends... no slow motion, I use 24, if I want slow motion I use 60, if I want really really slow motion I use 120 for 4k, 240 in 2.7k
for fast-paced filming, I would go with 60fps to leave headroom for slowing down in post. 24fps, in my opnion, can be choppy unless you're filming slow movements for cinematic-looking shots.
Oi
in photo mode, you are locked to 8:7 aspect ratio which is a bummer. They should give you more options like in the video mode. I don´t feel like cropping it in post-edition every single shot... it is counter productive. If you have spent all your life framing the best shot in the cam, why should you "unlearn" and start shooting far away from the subject every single time for then cropping in post production?? 1. it means more work to do. 2. less quality because you are cropping and reframing. 3. it´s an unlearn process from photography experience. Not cool imo #Gopro
That's a bummer for sure. Wasn't aware that photos can ONLY be taken at 8:7. Definitely a drawback in my book.
Heyy wazzzupppp you said you will make a light video abouth the gopro in a previous video i am still waiting
Hey yes next tip video! 🤙🏼
@@MicBergsma thank you for your response❤️
