  • “George” was a really tough case. He went through the Rational Recovery course on AVRT® where he learned how to defeat his addiction, however, later he went back to his addiction. This video shows how he got back on track and became a securely abstinent person after his downfall.
Some of the topics are: How addiction brings hopelessness, especially after years of participation in recovery groups. Common difficulties of AVRT-based recovery, exposing the still-lurking Beast® of addiction. Common relationship problems seen through the lens of AVRT, and how family members can deal with an addicted person who changes their mind and returns to addiction. What is your plan B?

Sounds like you really, really love to gamble. How much longer are you going to empty your bank account? Worse, if you are married, have dependents… do you expect them to be happy about living under a bridge? Hemingway was once asked “So, how did you go bankrupt?” He replied “slowly at first and then all at once it was all gone.”
Have you learned AVRT? Do you have any AVRT questions? What would your Big Plan be? What might be acceptable types of financial risks might be acceptable to begin saving and taking better care of yourself. You know you can quit gambling anytime you choose to do so. I’m assuming no one is holding a gun to your head - gamble, gamble, gamble. You must be a loser or it wouldn’t be a problem. How about becoming a grown-up responsible for becoming successful? Wouldn’t that be more fun than being a loser?

@DeborahSpringborn Actually, I'm on the Autism Spectrum and women were never interested in dating me when I was younger so I never married nor did I ever have kids. Loneliness is a real trigger for me to gamble and I struggle socially when I try to talk to people and they usually wind up talking to someone else that they can talk to. Also, I went to gambling treatment and several G.A. meetings so I need to un-learn the 12-step logic.
