    Is there a way to export your drum track with each instrument exported separately rather one file consisting of all of the drums? When I explode the song the file that's exported includes my kick, snare, hi hats, etc.

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  Před 5 lety +16

      If you already have your drums exploded into different tracks just convert your song to a sequence. Once you do that go to main and click the folder at the top of the screen. At this point you will see an option for export (lower right corner). Tap that. You will get the option to explode tracks, check the box next to that and each track will have a separate audio files from the mpc live.

      Is it possible to recall/ play back/loop e.g. just your “intro” sequence by assigning it to one of the pads, or an external controller? (And then use other buttons to launch the verse and chorus part) so you can loop different parts of your song to play live with a solo instrument?

    So clear! Much thanks. Here are my notes for reference if anyone wants to see this process written out:
    NOTES:
    Make a full loop with all the parts you want in one sequence (MAIN SEQUENCE)
    Make 5 copies of this sequence:
    1. An unaltered copy that will be used as backup if needed
    2. An Intro
    3. A Verse
    4. A Chorus
    5. An Outro
    Peel away layers between the different sections
    Focus on transitions (variations in the last bar between sections, helping lead into the next section; + automate volume for transitions)
    After editing individual sections, copy those sections (Verse2, Chorus2, etc) for variation when they repeat the second time
    Arrange as intended in Song Mode (from main menu) and then export

But I find that constructing songs is very tedious and prefer to work faster in my DAW. So I export all my tracks out of the Live and into Ableton. I can record 12 tracks at once out of the Live.

    Hi Matt, I just created my 1st song on MPC ONE with 15 Midi Tracks for Drums and Synths and did Audio Guitars and Bass Tracks All in one Sequence, This Video was very helpful. So there are definite parts that are intro, verse 1, verse 2, bridge and end. I now need to break these apart into separate sequences at the correct bar locations and add a lead guitar part between the bridge and end. Seems more complicated than what this 1st basic video covers. Can you make a part 2 that covers adjusting bars to make existing parts match up sequence to sequence?

Since then I would just do say a 4 bar sequence, then use the x2 function a few times to make it into say a 32 bar sequence. Then do changes from there. So u can get a repetive thing goin but still have changes here and there thruout as it runs thru. Copying sequences tho is the only way to go for sure. been thinking about buying one of these, and watching you work on it has been really helpful to see how the MPC workflow operates. now i just have to decide between the X and the Live. I like the extra controls on the X, but watching you work it doesn't seem like the smaller Live's hardware interfaces are really holding you back much.

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  Před 4 lety

      Hello. The extra knobs and buttons and a larger screen and more inputs and outputs of the X seem appealing. But there firmware on the mpc x and not live are the same. Once you get used to where everything is at on the Live you don't know what you are missing if you have never used the X. The price difference is rather large too. So that being said the Live may be a good option if you want to get an idea of the work flow.
      After 2 years of use with the Live I kinda do want to get my hands on the MPC X though 😁

    • @spindlenine
      @spindlenine Před 4 lety

      if there’s one thing I really wish they’d carried over from the X to the Live it’s the little OLED screens above the knobs down the right hand side. I think that would make knowing what the QLINK options are a bit more obvious when you’re getting started. however, watching you work on the Live it’s obviously not a requirement since you seem to have built muscle memory around it. :)
      After seeing how fluidly you and some other CZcamsrs cruise through it to make edits and tweaks, I decided to go with the Live. I think if the X was closer to $1,500 it might be worth it but I really can’t justify the price hike of 120% more when the OS and core features are the same on both. If the X had enough inputs to replace my sub mixer as well it might be worth it to save the desk space and get all those knobs, but as it is, I think Akai really packed a ton of good stuff into the Live for a fair price. And the portability is dope. If I end up regretting it I can always eBay it and upgrade to the X.
      Thanks for the advice, and keep making those sweet videos. I’ll be working my way through them all soon. :)

Does each sequence correspond with each other when making adjustments or do you have to go to each individual sequence? Thanks again Matt!
    Regarding face in/out (from around 14:00 to around 15:30 in your video), can you start with 0 volume and slowly fade a track in? The goal is like for house music when a disco sample slowly fades in over the drums.
    I ask because you started the fade where the track was then faded the drums out.
    Thanks!

    Great tutorial. Can each sequence be assigned to pads so that you can trigger the into, chorus, verse etc.
