I like Michael's reaction when Gates comes out and steps over the table at about 7:50. And yest there's no requirement for Marina to stand as mentioned. Also needless to say mini-skirts / short skirts were back in fashion at the time...
They do keep up with one another, though. Gates always seems to know what's going on with Marina when asked about her at cons. However, Marina was always closest to Michael, and Gates to Brent (outside work, at least.) I do know that after a few stunts that the guys pulled, Marina would only leave her dog to be taken care of by "Aunt Gates" when she had to run errands. :o)
My understanding is that Gates and Marina got on 'well enough' but there was some underlying tension at times over things like airtime and costumes. Apparently Marina was jealous that when Gates came back onto the show the hair department spent a lot of money a real hair wigs for Gates and she was wearing a very uncomfortable one. Ronald D. Moore admitted on the blurays that in one episode the wardrobe ppl put both of them in ugly workout clothes as pay back for occasionally bickering on set.
Funny. I saw them a few weeks ago-they’re sisters now. Sometimes a relationship just needs to mature, along with the people in it. When Marina lost her husband, she stayed with Gates & she took care of her. So there’s that.
@fredrika27 good to know. The short dress must have been the reason because etiquette or not, it was slightly awkward when everyone was standing except for Marina. But the short dress reason makes sense since I can't imagine that Marina would intend or choose to purposefully slight Gates on television. The two never did seem particularly close, however.
@creejay Actually, under the old etiquette rules women are not required to stand up when people come into a room or approach a table. Therefore, what she did would not be considered inappropriate. Please consider this: Marina's dress was really short and she didn't wish to show the audience her dedicates alé Britney Spears. Not to stand up, shows that she was thinking and being respect to the viewers by not allowing the audience to see too much!
Jonathan has the best laugh :)

“I always eat like a lot of food and everyone hates me cause I don’t gain weight” *simultaneous nodding* I STARTED LAUGHING SO HARD
Love Marina's look!!!💕💕💕
Thank you soooo much for posting this! Wonderful memories! ^_^
So glad I have a 4k monitor right now.
... must look great in UHD.
did she say "clingdon"?
Yes
her not knowing which camera to look at brings an aura of genuinety
... at least some of those words, were English.

yes but she has to stand up to leave haha
Klingdon.
I think just THE MEN stand up for when a woman comes out... to show respect. No reason for Marina to stand up. ;)
Phasers don't come out of there.... silly.
8:10 wtf
man i miss the old marina..soo happy and bubbily..now she so crabby and irritable
That's when she didn't need to ask for an orgasm
they showed the stupidest clips for both Marina and Gates. Marina is the only one that doesn't stand up for Gates when she comes out.
Big mouth Patrick Steward always making political statements nobody asks him to do.
