  • These are highlights from Glenn Robinson's final year at Purdue in which he was named Player of the Year by virtually every meaningful publication/group (including Wooden and Naismith awards). He led Purdue to the Big Ten title (1st of 3 consecutive) as he led the nation in scoring (30.3 pts/game) and Big Ten in rebounding (10+/game). He went on to become the #1 player taken in the 1994 NBA Draft and had a very good NBA career (averaging 20.7 pts, 6.1 rebs, 2.7 asts, 1.2 stls for 11 years). After being selected by the Bucks, Glenn and his agent were able to sign a substantial contract of 10 year, $68 million. During the year(s) after this draft, when the NBA collective bargaining agreement was renewed - it was modified so that rookie salaries were to be predetermined in a specific range based on your draft position/selection. He is the second all-time leading scorer in Bucks history.

    Averaged 30.3 pts a game. I was a little kid and went with my parents to see his last NCAA games against Kansas (in which he scored 44) and against Duke (he outscored and out-rebounded Grant Hill).
    Purdue's best athlete while at Purdue--hands down!

    Even as an Iowa fan, I can't wait to see how his son fares at Michigan. The Big Dog was my favorite basketball player of all time considering what he did at Purdue. He made me a NBA fan following him with the Bucks. I know he had unbelievable shortcomings as a pro, (playing defense) but man I loved watching him ball. Straight silk.

  • @mmcneil777

    He was superman as a college player. He seemed to play with a little more passion in college and was more of a leader of the team. He was an excellent NBA player, but I kind of wish he played with the same kind of passion in the pro's. As an NBA player he was more calm and blended into more of a team format, but think he could have made a little bigger impact in the pro's after watching these Purdue highlights.

    I don't really think he "underachieved" 20 and 6 for career numbers in 10 years is pretty damn solid...I just think people thought too much of him and thought he was an all-around player
    The guy was a scorer, pure and simple. Look at this whole video, there isn't one play other than him taking the ball to the rack. It doesn't work that way in the NBA. "G-Rob" was just exposed for being a all O guy. I do agree that he had some off the court issues that did hinder him.

    His mid range. Him in doc MJ Reggie. Joe D. Durant. Beat mid range game ever seen. Like he said "$$$ in da bank" and he had a VERY GOOD NBA career. Was no accident them bucks teams (cassell Allen and big dawg) were pushing EVERY1. IM a HUGE pacer fan. Game 5 in the old elimination games pavers were 1 seed. Milwaukee took us to final poss. Beat hit a GW as time fell buried it. Was 1-14 when T.Best released history to defeat a stingy almost undeniable Bucks squad. And in prior games. Had reggie Miller moment. Or the Bucks beat us. Very underrated Bucks teams. Gotta remember Glenn NOT the 1st option. He easily could have dumped 30ppg on a weaker team at the time-clippers

      He da truth.. Gary Roosevelts own. Proud to be a Hoosier. And the arguement Alan Henderson was better.... BULL SHIT!!!! Brebuf had their best squad ever.. The big dawg couldn't mount a whole unit. 5 is greater than 1 all American. One of. I believe Danny Manning and kemba had better collage careers. But DEF. Arguable. Top 5 collage player ever. Like I stated. He a #1 option in the L. He gwtting 25-30ppg

  • @ChrisinEC
    @ChrisinEC Před 14 lety +1

    G-Rob's problem was he stopped caring. He didn't play no defense, he hardly rebounded and I would argue he was a poor man's Nowitski. Man, I saw him in HS for 3 years and THAT guy was a BEAST inside and on defense, that guy disappeared after he got drafted................

    He did underachieve because he played with a lot of effort in college and when he got to the NBA he played in a very casual manner. It was as if he no longer cared. Coming out of college he was expected to be an all time great. He will not be remembered that way so yeah he underacheived.
