Osborne Brothers Rocky Top Lyrics:
Wish that I was on ol' Rocky Top
Down in the Tennessee hills
Ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top
Ain't no telephone bills
Once I had a girl on Rocky Top
Half bear, other half cat
Wild as a mink, but sweet as soda pop
I still dream about that
Rocky Top, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Rocky Top
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Once two strangers climbed ol' Rocky Top
Lookin' for a moonshine still
Strangers ain't come down from Rocky Top
Reckon they never will
Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top
Dirt's too rocky by far
That's why all the folks on Rocky Top
Get their corn from a jar
Rocky Top, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Rocky Top
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Rocky Top, Tennessee
I've had years of cramped-up city life
Trapped like a duck in a pen
All I know is it's a pity life
Can't be simple again
Rocky Top, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Rocky Top
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Rocky Top, Tennessee

You don’t hear too many tenors singing lead in country songs. Well done.

Almost like he thought or felt he spoke his thoughts strange
Woo-Hoo! My country roots come out when I hear this. I loved playing this so badly on a keyboard and singing the high notes till my voice cracked.
Why does it make me tear up so bad
Probably because songs like this are played with pure PASSION
@@DylanJ138 no ur a child that is what happens when ur Father comes in

Reminds me of my Papa. One of the toughest men I’ve ever met with a heart of pure gold. He used to run shine in the backwoods of Arkansas in the late 50s/early 60s. Still have some of his old shine jugs with corn cob corks.

Whoooo!
As a buckeye fan, I still love this song every day.
Ty CZcams for the best time machine we could have! Love this!
I have driven through the Appalachians many times, a haunting landscape, lots of knooks and crannies that looks like no one has ever been in. I mind my manners when im passing through, always.
Years ago, this was my most-listened-to-track of the year on Spotify. 🎉😮🎉.
I guess I am the only one who learned this song at Disneyland on Country Bear Jamboree. It was always my favourite part of the show, along with Thank God I'm a Country Bear. Real foot stomper. It's great being a music teacher and teaching my students this song and using it at summer camps too. Every kid (almost) falls in love with it almost instantly. It's fast and it's funny, what else could a kid want?
Up in the Cambrian Shield of Northern Ontario here. Good Ole Boys are the same no matter where you are. My wife is from just outside Crossville Tennessee. She's right at home up here.
Just found there music about 6 months ago an I listen to it all the time they sure can play an he sounds amazing RIP
We used to sing this all the time back in the early ‘70’s
I got to go there and listen to this song up on the top LOL it was a dream come true . It a hard hike to get up there
He didn't get much time to shine but that lad on the fiddle sure can play !
Thank you for the music Bobby ❤
Rest in peace Bobby god bless from Byrdstown, TN
Here I am, a big metal fan…Slipknot type music in a lot of cases but I also grew up listening to all the classics with my late father, for some reason this song just popped into my head for no apparent explanation so I had to jump on and have a listen! There is just something special about the old country and blue grass music, there’s something about it that cannot be replicated by the newer artists. Thanks for posting!
Me too
RIP Mr. Bobby...always a thrill to listen to this
no thankyou

Vibing to this in Hungary 🇭🇺. Rocky Top Tennessee 🎶
Makes me wish for a time when the Tennessee hills where still cheap to buy and sparsely populated.
You know whats funny about these songs for me. I heard them as a child growing up. Im black. Kids would call it honkey music and all this stuff. But the feelings it gave me and the fun i had to it, had no color. And in those moments with those "honkys" we were one. Color was not brought up. Just had fun. This place now...idk.
Rest on peace Bobby, we're gonna miss you
Dearest Bobby, Rest in Peace
Guy plays a hell of a banjo!
That's Mr Sonny Osborne 😊
Greatest song ever written
Best song ever
Never gets old. Bluegrass is the best. Tennessee born and bread. Come try and take our shit. You'll never be heard of again
A fantastic band!
Still waiting for Marvel to cover this period of Wolverine's timeline when he was lead singer for a bluegrass band.
