I would say that about 90% of my postpartum work is focused on the mother; because a lot of the baby’s needs will be met; when the mothers’ are… ❤️Thank you for sharing this!

Hi! I just want to add something to the conversation. I am a mother of two. My intention was to be an "earth mama", but life would have it different. And I want to say that even if you don't have the privilege or capacity to show up in the way that "natural motherhood" is described you are still good enough! You have your own path to walk and as long as you are connected to your heart, you reflect about your journey and raise your awareness around your mothering, that is good enough! The path between you and your children will unfold as it is meant to.

I loved this conversation. It was full of generosity. I hope now that these ideas are at the fore, we can turn towards communal responsibility that Sheleana describes with creating the village. The power is in the village. Yes we have individual power, but it's incomplete until it becomes collective. I often wonder how to create community when we are surrounded by other parent communities who are resigned to the status quo. As a Black mom, who has lived all over predominately White Canada, this is my experience. Like Rachelle, my family has tried living in many places, yet, building community has been so challenging because I've found the interest of becoming (more) privileged or maintaining what privilege is had overrides the real and immediate treasure of presence of community with all humans. For some, (including myself) the resignation is to resist the trauma of buying into the prospect of privilege by attempting to assimilate. The resignation is actually self-isolation as means of self-preservation. Any way, I thought I'd share another perspective on this issue can manifest. I'm glad you two are the exception and that you're having these conversations. I feel it beginning to unearth pathways toward the collective change and support we all need.

Two wise women speaking a lot of important truths. Thanks for shinning bright light on important topics related to mothers, women and babies ❤

What a treat filled with wisdom and innate knowledge. How beautiful to witness complete proclivity honouring your babies both naturally and equally and in doing so you are reclaiming motherhood from the wise medicine woman and pioneering a path for our future generations. I loved this. Thank you for sharing.

This brought up so much for me as a mama wanting that deep connection but still struggling to embody it. Thank you so much.

I also live rurally and can deeply relate to people not coming together the way I hoped
