  • We are slightly late this week but we are here! For several months now, one of the co-hosts of The incredible PODCASK podcast has been predicting a "Divisional Shift" coming to bourbon.
This week the hosts of the Podcask join me and the Bourbon Junkies return to debate the prediction.
The question is simply this. Is Greeze the Bourbon Prophet trying to warn us all of the impending doom in Bourbon? Or do I owe the Bourbon Junkies an Apology for forcing them to sit through this?
Time for you to decide. . .
Whiskey Neat is a Radio show on iTunes and ESPN 97.5 FM in Houston and is brought to you every week by the following sponsors.
    SAGAMORE
This week’s episode is brought to you by Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey. They are reviving the tradition of Maryland-style rye whiskey at their Baltimore farm and waterfront distillery. Each batch of their whiskey is hand-blended for consistency in aroma, flavor, and texture, creating a balanced flavor profile with notes of warm cinnamon, vanilla bean, honey, and spice. Find them online at Sagamore Spirit dot com or visit your local retailer to pick up a bottle. Please drink responsibly.
    Waterford!
If you're familiar with the concept of Terroir in wine, you'll appreciate Mark Reynier's Waterford "Single Malt Whisky" from Ireland. Mark is combining his Scotch whisky and fine wine talents to produce an authentic series of Irish Single Malt Whiskies based on traditional wine industry principles.
2021 Icons of Whisky - Brand innovator and Irish Distiller of the year - San Francisco World Spirits Competition Double Gold - one of 750com's Game Changers is proving that Waterford is indeed different.
How? Authenticity! The Terrior code on each bottle reveals the entire story of that whisky. Full disclosure, full traceability.
100% pure Irish barley creates an intensity of flavor derived from exceptional steps in the distilling process. Waterford is gastronomic because it's honest.
Waterford's Single Farm Origin is one farm, one whisky. The collection reveals the Terroir of each farm and its unique flavor profile.
Waterford's Arcadian series: Flavor through Agronomy - Organic Gaia and Biodynamic Luna - Single Malt Whiskies
Waterford's hyper-rare Cuvée series: Flavor through complexity, layering components from several farms
Widely available across the US, visit our friends at glassrev.com to discover "where to buy" this innovative, game-changing new single malt whisky.
Waterford - sometimes subtle, sometimes powerful, always unique.
Our last Sponsor is THE official Sponsor of Whiskey Neat, Balcones- In 2008, Balcones was nothing more than an idea driven by a passion to create something original and authentic. Focusing on ingredients and process, they breathed new life into hundreds of years of distilling traditions, earning them worldwide recognition for their whiskies. You can pick up their whiskies at your local liquor store, or if you're a retailer, reach out to your Southern Glazers representative."

In maryland and Delaware i would say we are almost already there. Its either allocated bottles are hidden behind the counter for their 'special' customers or the bottle goes to the glass case and the price is way higher than msrp. Maybe not secondary yet, but getting close.

Greeze isn’t wrong. If you look at the secondary market for any product that has limited retail availability, first line retailers know that they are selling products at MSRP that are immediately getting flipped on the secondary market for big bucks. If they aren’t regulated, they can do whatever they want. #TeamGreeze

Dan Shook looks like a man that has needed to block Greeze's phone calls just for his own sanity after several weeks of this.

For all those that have a kid. Do you remember any time in their development when they were upset they didn’t get their way. And, you tried to explain to them that you understand and that you agree it is not fair or that it sucks. But, it’s also something that is going to happen and we just have to do the best we can with it.
I feel like that was the entire conversation everyone was having with Greeze

We've got one store in Indiana, that at its big lottery, they have 2 prices for the bottles. If you crack the seal at the checkout counter, you pay just over retail. If you leave it sealed you pay 3-4x. Example - BTAC $125 opened, $500 sealed. I have no problem with it.

Late watching this but around the 40 min mark there was a comment about if BT is sitting on the bottles.
It seems like someone is because Virginia dropped the 2020 bottles of GTS this past November. A year later...maybe it was VA ABC that held, but there are bottles like that that show up a year later.

I love seeing the meeting of the minds, but I would proffer that it would be leaps and bounds better without interrupting each other. I get that everyone has something to say but it's annoying to listen to. Aside from that lots of great ideas/opinions shared in this episode.

Greeze is Billy Madison.. "Greeze, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." 😂
