      lots of vintage rack effects i guess. not trying to imitate the exact sound, which is pretty impossible hahaha. my new nautila has just arrived, it sounds great!

    sounds amazing ,especially on stereo.This chorus has the warmth and stereo wideness I was looking for,in flanger mode it has jet plane swirls I love it has also vibrato,so three pedals in one for 129€.Of course a no brainer.

      T.I.N Mateus I agree! I particularly love the vibrato. It’s such a deep rich sound with more control than any other vibrato pedal I’ve seen

    Best demo on this pedal... I wasn't sure if I should pull the trigger (I own the Ventura vibe and there's some common ground there) but I think I'm convinced now! I better get it while it's still $129 @ GC. All the Digi tech pedals have gone up in price since the team was let go.

      I noticed some detune going on, can you tell me where that's coming form?@@plunkandboom_

    • @plunkandboom_
      @plunkandboom_  Před 5 lety

      Where do you hear the detune exactly? I mean chorus is a detune type effect - a modulated detune signal added to the dry signal. Is that what you are referring to? On this pedal specifically you can add more voices which adds more detuned parts with slightly different modulation parameters. So maybe that’s it?

    • @kimgaugemusic
      @kimgaugemusic Před 5 lety

      Sorry, @9.22 you manipulated the waveform knob. @@plunkandboom_

    • @plunkandboom_
      @plunkandboom_  Před 5 lety

      I think that's just the modulated signal. I had just turned the depth up to maximum and when turning the shape from sine to log at that point in the sweep of the wave created that sound. So at that point there was nothing else going on in the signal path other than the Nautila

    Great demo! I was split between this and the Walrus Audio Julia, but this does everything the Julia can do and then some, plus it's way less expensive.

  • @MrLanka-ud8wl
    @MrLanka-ud8wl Před 2 lety

    great demo. I especially appreciate hearing it with a synth sound, which is what I plan to do with it. Most pedal demos are with guitars only, which is understandable. I'm a big fan of the Digitech Obscura and I think the Nautila will fit nicely with my effects chain. Cool to see both the Obscura and Nautila together at the end!

  • @doremi5793
    @doremi5793 Před 2 lety

    This is a really high quality demo, thanks! Total noob question from a guitarist, how do you connect the pedal to the arturia? what is the signal flow? i thought guitar pedals and line level signals were a mismatch

    • @plunkandboom_
      @plunkandboom_  Před 2 lety +1

      The Beatstep is just a MIDI controller. I’m using it to control one of Arturia's software synths, I think it was the Mini v3. This was being sent out of my interface and into a couple of reamp boxes by Radial. This brings the impedance down(or up? I can never remember) to instrument level. This was then sent back to the interface to record

    i have the obscura on my board! and i am waiting for the nautila in the mail... my goal was to have a stereo acoustic rig. just need a reverb pedal. I was looking at the Hof2 also the rv-6. your last demo got me so excited! the warble that you got which peda; would you attribute that to? all of the last three or one more then the other?

    • @plunkandboom_
      @plunkandboom_  Před 4 lety

      The warble would’ve been the Nautila for sure. I think the Obscura is in “tape” mode so the may have been a bit of modulation in the repeats, but negligible.

  • @chinmeysway
    @chinmeysway Před 3 lety

    Love the loop at the end. Idktho...still seems 90% not real stereo, or maybe L/R are not hard panned in post enough to hear the dimension…

    • @plunkandboom_
      @plunkandboom_  Před 3 lety

      I'm not sure how the Nautila treats the stereo signal. Often stereo chorus pedals will send the dry signal to one side and the wet signal to the other side. Other stereo choruses will do something like a phase invert or something. I'm not sure of the technicalities.
      It would have to be something closer to the second option though because it's in vibrato mode so there isn't a dry signal there

    Wait a minute! You're demoing a STEREO pedal in STEREO?!
    Why would you want to do that? Wouldn't you just ignore the stereo channel like every other video?!
    Maybe we should all just go VIncent Van Gogh and use only one ear!
    I simply don't get it. Maybe all of those other CZcamsrs only have a LEFT channel on their interfaces / mixers.
    Awesome video and thanks for making the effort to plug in the second channel!

    Any volume boost using this pedal?? ... Seems to be a problem with a lot of flanger pedals. I have an mxr micro flanger and the volume boost is ridiculous, people seem to say the same about TCE vortex too 🤔
    Why is there no volume /level knobs on these pedals...
    I really want to take a chance on the Nautila though.

    • @plunkandboom_
      @plunkandboom_  Před 5 lety +1

      there is a volume boost with this pedal unfortunately. The more voices you use also adds a bit more volume as well. I still love it though. It's quite versatile and has a different flavour than my other chorus pedals. I love using it for vibrato

    • @Aidan.G

      @@plunkandboom_ cool. Thanks for quick reply, great demo, pedal sounds great... I ain't gonna go there though 🙄👍

    • @plunkandboom_
      @plunkandboom_  Před 5 lety +2

      fair enough. 'Volume boost' must be a tricky thing with modulation circuits because you're adding another signal to the dry signal. Natural that it would then bump up the volume and there must be something in the circuit to level that out. A main volume knob would definitely be a handy thing - I'm not cure if I've ever seen one though. There's often a mix knob but not a main volume. I'm going to play through my crop of chorus pedals(I currently have 11...) and check their volumes

    Not a question pertaining to the pedal at all, but what was the setup for the Beatstep doing those arpeggios? What synth was it running and how were those arps done?

    • @plunkandboom_
      @plunkandboom_  Před 5 lety

      I can't quite remember how the Beatstep was set up, probably either chromatically or to a major scale. The synth is the Mini V3 by Arturia with just a simple setup in the arpeggiator(ascending, 3 octaves, and a 3 note repeat). This was fed out of the computer through 2 reamp boxes, through the Nautila, and then recorded on a separate track in Logic.

    WHY they stop making this one?

    • @plunkandboom_
      @plunkandboom_  Před 4 lety
