That opening cut to Modern Warfare is such a perfect scene I’m glad I wasn’t the only one that appreciates it
Same man. I got chills
agreed!?
“Ah look a generic speech from a baddie.”
*Sees suicide bombers get out at Piccadilly Circus*
“EYO WHAT THE FU-“
I thought this was a great opening but mwII is definitely the best in franchise history🙌
Honestly the opening in MWII did the same for me, it was a good opening too. They both give me chills when I watch them.
"We get dirty and the world stays clean. That's the mission."
The best quote that everyone and every veteran can agree on.
The world is hardly clean so the "veterans" did little more than spill blood for the continuation of ridiculous ideals. Sucks to suck. I would never imagine losing my life for a country that doesn't even care if I'm healthy enough to fight for it. Idiots 🤣🤣
And it’s the reason I like the OLD Captain Price more.
most veterans excluding WW2 vets have only served to further fuck up the world
Then proceeds to bomb a school in the Middle East.
@@nobodyherepal3292 what
One thing I like about the opening mission is that if you shoot the guards down at the rail yard before your given the okay, someone in your squat will say something like “damn, CIA has a 0 tolerance policy for these a$$holes”
Same thing with not turning on your light when entering the wear house, Alex will say how he eats a lot of carrots
I would increase ur like goal but it’s already at 141👏
Here's a awesome little thing I learned in the MW "Piccadilly" mission.
When you enter that 2 story library I think it is?? There's a dragonov sniper rifle on the second story by one of the windows. You'll hear over the radio chatter from a officer saying there's a crowd of civilians trapped by the water fountain/red bus pinned by gunfire.
At that moment a terrorist comes around the corner of the bus and is about to slaughter all the civilians the radio operator called out.
If you kill that terrorist before he opens fire, you'll get a another radio message from the operator saying "Whoever you are out there, bloody good shooting!!" Then another officer comes in gets the people out of the firefight. I loved finding that out.
Honestly love "Soap" and "Roach" as nicknames for the player. Cause you either slippery and get away from/with everything, or you're just downright impossible to kill/get rid of.
Ironically roach and ghost die.
@@th3thatguy631 as does Soap, but those deaths are pulling a lot of weight storywise
7:35 They actually say “Outside the door!” But answer the door would’ve been hilarious
Two things I feel are worth mentioning:
1 I remember some articles from around the game's launch about how IW had to cut out a lot of the more brutal stuff, obviously to appeal to investors and likely to avoid an AO rating or outright bans. Likely that the dialogue and cutscenes were done long before that and it'd be too expensive to reshoot, even then the more "graphic" scenes are a lot more poignant than in the old trilogy mostly because they're not juxtaposed with bombastic or cheesy hollywood styled action scenes.
2 The developers don't portray America as the absolute good guys; They use white phosphorous offensively which is a war crime, they fire into a Hospital with an attack helicopter despite clear markings, and overall they feel a lot more real than an army of genetic super soldiers. It's small deviances from the somewhat dickwaving behaviour of MW2 and 3 that humanise this game above a mindless corridor shooter.
Not to mention, leaks from before the game came out mention that there was hints that Barkov might've done the dirty with 6 year old Farah. Having to cut out a lot of the fucked up shit didn't hold it back per se, but I feel having all that in the game would definitely break the mold of AAA games being safe.
@@TheAkrillion
>hints that Barkov might've done the dirty with 6 year old Farah
*hol up*
@@ZeroOne-mp1qe yeah ima need a source on that because I don't want that in my search history
@@TheAkrillion you cant just dump that info and leave
@@nothingtoseehere1221 It was one of the story leaks back around July-August of 2019. Reading up on it again, it was actually supposed to be a full on scene(nothing too explicit, but it's implied) and those who watched it behind the scenes were uncomfortable. Most of the brutal, uncomfortable and downright disturbing scenes were removed due to ratings and investors.
They actually didn’t kill Alex off, the Story about Verdansk got continued in the Warzone Seasons and Spec Ops where in the End Price kills Zhakaev Jr. and we saw Alex and Ghost on a Mission together. He got out, but lost one leg and if I remember correctly one Eye too
Yeah he’s alive. Just wounded
I wish they'd consider the story in Warzone to be non-canon.
And now we just need Mw2 and to see you gush about that campaign next haha
He came back in season 3 to assist Ghost in taking back verdansk and only lost his leg otherwise he is unscaved🙌
@@brainwasher9876 are you sure it’s confirmed, they never mentioned warzone story during mw2
Alex is one of my all time favorite COD characters, it's a shame he wasn't in MWII.
Idk... alejandro is the giga Chad of all giga chad
@@rsdillbot3646 Alejandro kicks ass too, maybe a team up between them in the future?
Could be called the A-Team....
maybe there was some time issues with the actor or they have other plans for Alex.
I bet it isn't the last time we see Alex
@@Black0raz0r He'll most likely show up in MW3. I tweeted Chad Michael Collins about it and he hearted it, so it seems like he's more than willing to take up the mantle again.
@@Black0raz0r no russian???? :))
Damn 3 days later?! You are pumping out all of these episodes like a intervention player did 420 no scope back in the day!
Price staying calm while the embassy worker gets Angry at him for not extracting them is so on point for someone like price
21:18 Actually Soap’s bio in MWII’s MP does tell us how he got the nickname. Won’t spoil it but I do think it fits.
In "Wolf's Den", the compound you invade is very similar to Bin Laden's. The main house is missing a big peace of it, but it is almost an exact replica of a part, specifically the part of Bin laden resided in.
Then there's the Benghazi Embassy attack and 13 hour stand off, multiple waves of attack, mortar strikes, and uncertain uneasiness. I loved all the references
The graphics for this game is insane. I just got done playing Modern Wafare 2 and sometimes when I'm not paying too close attention it looks so close to real life.
W opinion
The game unfortunately had some of its graphics reduced around S3, probably something to do with Warzone not being able to handle it. Cutscenes were also done by Blur Studios so of course they’re great!
@@duck_entertainment mw2? Is there anyway to reverse it?
@@mahtayhoe I think there was a pack to download for next gen
MW2 doesn't look or sound as good as MW2019. MW2019 looks better on my PS4 Pro than MW2 does on my PS5...
9:27 Did you know that sound is from the older COD games I'm talking Cod 1&2 old . Hearing that sound gave me flashbacks to COD2 and fighting Germans with Captain Price
The flare to see in the field mission is also strong references to 13 hours with John Krasinski, which is based on the Benghazi
story as well. That's what I like about COD campaigns, when they give you missions inspired from real events or events in movies based on those events.
I really liked COD 2019 campaign.
Idk what it was about using that white phosphorus in the campaign but it was one of the few times a cod kill streak really made me go “damn I really just did that” and then when you enter the base and see the effects it hits even harder
14:51 being in the middle of the Andor series, Cassian Andor is quickly becoming one of my favorite Star Wars characters, so I felt a special kind of happiness when you included that line of his
Just a quick note, the flower fields you mentioned at 15:14 are actually full of poppies which I think is pretty cool symbolism
one thing i like about fara's first flashback misson is when you shoot one of the russians near the truck you can hear the other scream out in sadness of course because their friend is dead,i like this as even though it's one small bit it show the russian's aren't just the evil guys they too are humans
Fun Fact: In the mission The Embassy, the helicopter pilot is the voice's actor of the OG Price. It's a little cameo that I didn't until I realize watching another playthrough and I love it so much.
Damn well I guess that means they got the og Price actor if they want to use him imagine if he voices a relative of Price like his father
There’s only one thing in iffy one is the theme of “getting dirty so the world stay clean” because when anyone else but the main characters do it it’s always wrong no matter the context. I don’t agree with what hadir does but it’s actually understandable having been fighting since being a child, and I don’t think he wanted to do it again or only use it against the Russians (the gas the Russians themselves used on civilians)
I think Jacob geller does a fantastic video about this and explains it way better than I can.
I mean next game spoilers Shepard does the exact same thing they’d do
I would have liked to see more marine missions in MW2019, the hospital one was pretty fun, and they were among my favorites in the old games. Just having a big battlefield with a lot of friendlies and enemies is a nice change from the small squad stuff
Probably my favourite mission in the game it was simple but it was still great
I really like Jacob Geller's video about the politics of MW 2019. Bringing up how this game cannot be apolitical, especially basing it on real life military action. The developers attempts to say "we just want to show how grey war is now" are entirely hollow.
I can praise MW19 for at least pushing the envelope a little bit.
The game doesn't punish you if one or two civilians enter your line of fire mid-combat, because that's an unfortunate but 'acceptable' risk, and the uncomfortable nature of the interrogation scene was a bit chilling.
MW22 on the other hand kicks you back to checkpoint if a single civilian dies by your hand, even if it was completely unintentional. So that's a step back.
In my opinion every time MW19 "takes the gloves off" they immediately put them back on. The 3 most notable examples of this are at the end of clean house, when the butcher kills the kid and during the interrogation. In clean house you kill an unarmed woman, but as it turned out she was going for a detonator. When the butcher kills the kid, the kid runs into the smoke before he gets shot. During the interrogation the butcher's family faces no danger from us the players. Each time IW puts the player in a morally gray area, there's always an out, the detonator or the empty chamber(after which the wife and child then become "friendlies"). My criticism here would also work for MW22. It just feels like they were trying to emulate the shock and awe from the nuke in COD 4 or No Russian in MW2, but were too scared to go all the way with it. Perhaps in todays political climate that was the right choice, but in my opinion, it robs the impact those scenes had the potential for.
@@theickster3008 You losers and lowkey psychopath’s need lives
@@austinbatton4849 you must be a god amongst men to be offering such sage advise, do you have nothing better than throwing baseless insults at strangers to do?
No credit for how unceremoniously the wolf dies? Don’t get me wrong I loved makarov’s epic hanging but something about “oh there’s the guy we’ve been told to kill” *pop* and then continuing on with the mission felt so professional and sleek.
At that point the wolf was not even the main target, Hadir and Barkov were. Had to tie that end up somehow
The revolver in MW is a .357 magnum, based off of a Colt revolver, not a .44 magnum, however even with it being a smaller and lighter caliber a 6 year old would still STRUGGLE with handling the recoil from it
In regards of wanting a game to "take the gloves off," I highly recommend Spec Ops the line. One of the most finely crafted stories in a video game. It's based on heart of darkness, and doesn't pull any punches about the horrors of war and the game isnt afraid to show you.
Campaigns in FPS are often nameless. Cod brings those names and characters to the front of the mind. Makes us feel our actions and consequences. MWII has done a great job with this as well. Super excited to see your take on the sequel.
“We are LEAVING!” Was a callback to COD 4, which in turn was a reference to Hicks in Aliens. Worth another win.
The sergeant in Clean House that gets hit was moving towards the door to clear it, but at that moment you hear a bump on the next floor and it distracts him.
Sub optimal, but realistically a mistake that could happen.
21:17 "They really are never gonna tell us how boy got his call sign"
Well this has aged pretty well.
"No more jumping giant snow chasms or ramping boats"
*Me looking over nervously towards Graves in MW2 (2022)*
I'm surprised you didn't have more to say about the embassy mission, one of the longer ones and honestly just as, if not moreso, memorable as Clean House (certainly one I always replay any time I get a MW2019 itch)
A little note in the reboot is that Price is now forming 141 while in the OG it was Shepherd who formed 141, when you get to The Pit Cpl. Dunn will say something like “Shepherd’s watching something about selecting for his Task Force”
In the og it was actually Soap but Shepherd was the recruiter sane in the reboot
Not to misrepresent, war still sucks, but the line delivery of "Warheads on foreheads, baby! Get some!" makes me smile every time, and I've caught myself saying it with every indirect fire strike I see across all media.
You really cut to the waterboarding when you said "Drink some water" lol Props for that
I also played this one for the first time recently and I ultimately got to the end of the game with a positive experience. I missed all the discussion surrounding the game when it came out, and only knew I was going into a visually stunning reboot of a trilogy I loved. I enjoyed the direction they took the story, but felt it was pretty short. The cutscene they tagged on the end about 141 got me hyped for the sequel that would be out in a few weeks. Everything I liked about MW was improved upon for MWII and I can’t wait to watch the next video!!
Yeah I didn’t know about the controversy surrounding it either. I thought it was decent story wise but supplied great gameplay and atmosphere
Clean house is certainly godlike, but Going Dark is on same level for me as missions go in this campaign, love how you can do Going Dark anyway you want, any house clear as first etc
The moment where the butchers son is at gunpoint and he says "hes nothing to do with it" and prices answer "tell that the boy from the embassy"
That hit. Hits every time
15:03 That's not a flower field... that's a poppy farm.
Thankfully someone besides me noticed
What you say during the video about "geting dirty and real" reminds me of Spec Ops The Line
One of the best parts about Clean House when I played it is that I instinctually when and shot through the door. I had no clue he would normally die until I watched this. That's amazing.
Edit: also should add, I was playing the game through realism all the time, which was so much fun and difficult. It took me a while to do a lot of stuff because I had no directions.
I FUCKING LOVE this game, I agree with your points on how some lines just land as hollow but it’s just a genuinely enjoyable game, I sunk hours into this game trying to get all the skins in MP
When my brother came back from his vacation in the UK that opening scene, as well as the Piccadilly mission, creeped the hell out of him when he first played it. So much so that during the mission he would show me where he went out for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I know everyone talks about Soap and Ghost in MWII as the peak character dynamic in the reboot trilogy but i really love the dynamic between Alex and Farah. You can never really tell whether they are just Brother and Sister in Arms or if they are romantically involved and the game never pushes it one way or the other because it doesn't have to.
12:30 I appreciate scenes that like too, it calls back to a story my brother told me. He was deployed to Afghanistan and during a patrol his platoon got ambushed, the pointman nearly got hit by an RPG, narrowly dodged a snipers bullet and sprinted through a hail of MG fire. He ducked into an alleyway, collapses to the ground and starts laughing hysterically, his mind couldnt even begin to comprehend the absurdity of the situation.
One of my favorite parts of this game is the sound of lifting up, pulling back, and shoving forward the bolt of the HDR sniper. It's such an addicting sound and it sounds so cool
The sound design in this game was immaculate. Shame they couldn't hold the same standards with MW2
That modern warfare opening felt like the movie “nope” in a way
Remember when a cut scene's graphics were far superior to actual gameplay? Damn, it's a good time to be a gamer. I was so impressed with the PS5, I bought one for a friend who doesn't have the same resources as me. Both were purchased second hand and I paid more for both than sticker, but was well worth his reaction and getting texts where his mind is blown over and over. I made sure to buy him some accessories and a copy of Horizon Forbidden West, which was the main reason I upgraded.

In the MP, the M13 (SIG MCX) is fully-automatic which as stated is exclusively semi-automatic here. This is good attention to detail because in British firearms guidelines for armed police or military units that are operating with live rounds (army exercises on training grounds don't count because they use blanks), you must not use fully-automatic fire for a number of different reasons but one of them is accuracy concerns, and another is damage concerns. If you look at a UK police G36C for example - a rifle that in German military usage has fully-automatic capabilities, you will notice they don't have a "fun switch".
This video helped me realize, I actually miss Alex from MW2, since he's canonically alive.
oh I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time!!! Cannot wait to dive into it!
I'm so glad you made this video, I adore this game, by far my favourite COD title to date (excluding the new MW2 as I haven't played it yet) amazing video and Piccadilly is one of my favourite missions :D
I was on the fence about buying the game when it came out and debated waiting till a big sale but Prices line at 16:27 made me buy it 😂
They actually revealed why the called him soap in his mw2 2022 bio, its because he "cleaned house" the fastest in training which itself is a reference to how fast you can beat the training course in the OG mw

The new MW2 explains that Soap got his name from his ability to "clean" houses very quickly as a breaching and clearing expert
Clean House and Wolves Den were so great. I get why people were upset there wasn’t a mission like this in MW2 but it was a different war I guess but I hope it returns in 3. I love 19. Price and Gaz were so greatly remade for this take on Modern Warfare. I loved seeing Griggs too I hope he returns.

I’ve been waiting for this 👌🏾
Extremely well stated details of why it's a winner, quite enjoyable my friend!
Love your vids
Been waiting for this one!
YES! Was hoping for this to be a video.
I've been waiting for this for ages, IT'S FINALLY HERE LET'S GOOOOOOOO MODERN WARFARE!
One of the things I liked was the safe house you defend with the Mortar flares and laser designater is very similar to the movie 13 hours.
In the new MW2, the operator skin bios actually tell you how Soap got his name. It was from how well he would "clean house" in their exercises.
thank u for the subtitles, its very nice for the hearing impaired players
WHOOOOOW HAHAH
i am laughing more about your excited WHOOS's and your general excitment then the video itself
besides that i really liked this one
keep it up man im really enjoying your videos
It's good to see a gaming wins video as soon as I pull up youtube :]
this was one the first cod campains i played thru multiple times i loved the missions and couldn't get enough of the gameplay i loved the multiplayer too and i think that it did a good job with what it was saying i think it would've been nice to have a longer story but i think it holds up and it defeinetly my favourite COD
3:09 I honestly got so confused at this sentence and thought the simulation had crashed lmao
I haven't played modern warfare yet and I never realised just how incredibly realistic everything they did was, ye there's some artistic liberties that were taken for dramas sense but God damn I can see why everyone loves it especially the house clearing
Keep up the good work dood I hope you do the Battelfield franchise after the cod franchise
I had something of a different experience with MW2019. I wasn’t disappointed because I paid almost zero attention to the marketing, and instead borrowed it off my little brothers account almost a year after it came out.
This and modern warfare 2 (2022) are some of my favourite cod campaigns ever, you should really do a video on the second one.
I for some reason have not played this game ever since it got announced for some weird reason lol.
I just might....one day
The mortar part is actually a reference to bengazhi and the movie about that event thought it was pretty cool little nod to real life
honestly Gaz is my favorite character in the Modern Warfare reboot timeline. of course i like everyone else and Soap is always gonna be a favorite, but Gaz is THE favorite to me, and it's weird to me that he isn't as popular. he's considerably younger than the other members of the 141 (his official bio states he joined the military at 16 and has been serving 8 years, meaning that he's only 21 in 2019 when the game takes place, and only 24 in MWII). his age makes him very interesting because it's said he's still just as efficient at what he does as the original Gaz, and i like to imagine him and Soap still have a playful rivalry over it in this timeline as Soap's journal implies in the original. Gaz is just. so interesting. but making him so young compared to not just everyone, but especially Price, gives them a more mentor-mentee relationship that i like, and also gives even more weight to his discomfort with the things Price is having him do, like with the Butcher's family. yes, he is a trained soldier, for a very long time at that point. but underneath all that, Gaz is still just a kid compared to everyone around him. he's just. he's such an interesting character to me!!
and Farah too. i could do pages on Farah. i think this game's true strength is in the strength of their character's. although i have my favorites, every character is very well written and interesting
This a great video with some fantastic arguments from both sides of the Aisle. My only complaint would be that you didnt mention Sarah Schachner's absoloutely excellent score. There frankly hasnt been this good of a score since the original MW trilogy. Piccadilly Circus alone trumps all the previous cods going back to BO1. The main title theme is so simple yet so iconic.
Wish I still had my copy
What’s the outro song? Ahhhh. Also love the videos.
Soap (in the reboot universe at least) got his nickname from how quickly and effectively he cleaned houses.
Hence: Soap.
Pretty badass if you ask me.
W 🧼🧼🧼🧼
In mwII we learn that soap gets his name from being slippery and swift when cleaning house fast, as it earned him that nickname which is thankfully a lot better than hearing classified and assuming he dropped the soap in military school💀💀💀
3:10 you uh having a little trouble with that line😅
I’m so happy you saw the similarities to zero dark thirty. Especially the shooting the guy on the star case happens in the game and the movie, and in real life per interviews with the seals

The one mission I always think about when thinking of call of duty is vendetta from world at war. The cat and mouse game play and the only mission in stalingrad considered one of the most important battles of world War 2 for the russians
One of these days a Modern Warfare campaign rundown is going to have 141 wins, I can feel it.

Hahaha yeah, flower field, those are definitely not opium poppies.
the only issue i have with this game is how the new gaz looks, just because i think he looks like lewis hamilton, and everytime he opens his mouth, i think he is going to say either #blessed or complain about dead tyres.
fr tho, i like the redesign for all the main characters, both in this game and in MW2022
Note about 21:16 - They actually do tell us how he gets his name in MW2 (2022)!
"He earned the nickname "Soap" for cleaning house with remarkable speed and accuracy in room clearance techniques and urban warfare tactics."

7:32 Enabling subtitles shows that they say "Outside the door".
20:19 He survives because off screen stuffs, as seen in the MW Warzone Story, Season 3 Cinematic
Best part of 2019 was when they made everyone believe Alex died but instead lived and they forgot about him in the second game
