The "Oh shit!" Ethan screams when he gets his hand cut off has got to be one of the most relatable reactions in video game history.
Still don’t understand why the blood splattering out and his reaction was so delayed as the blood would come out as soon as the limb was cut off

Ethan is the more relatable character in the series, he's just an average guy who is always confused on what is happening

People says that, in the scene when Dimitrescu is talking with Mother Miranda on the phone, she should be able to see Ethan in the mirror, but my theory is that she actually did but pretended not to, then she got out through the bathroom and locked the door. The bathroom is connected to the hallway so she was waiting for Ethan behind the main door in order to ambush him.
She was also fixing her lipstick when staring at the mirror in the scene, too.
And in the bathroom next to the room connected to the hallway has what, exactly?
Her very own hand-crafted lipstick!

@@veellseamus399 Vampires do have reflections but not on silver. It's something about souls and purity. Modern mirrors aren't made from silver so technically a vampire should be able to see their reflection.

Even though I didn't play RE5, I immediately knew what Heisenberg is referring to, which I also thought is hilarious.

I'd win how Lady Dimitrescu genuinely cares for her daughters. Her reactions to their deaths always gets me. Gives her a bit depth.
I went in never expecting to get emotional in a Resident Evil game, of all games.
Same here, I found that resi 7 had one emotional scene too but nowhere near to the degree of 8

@@kittylemeu1373 It was most definitely not Ethans voice actor. He did his best and was brilliant at times. That script they gave him was atrocious. Whoever wrote those lines needs to stop making dialogue
I really like how each of the Lords are based on gothic tropes and characters from gothic stories. Lady D is based on vampires, Dracula specifically, and a tall Japanese yokai who wears a white dress and hat. Donna is based on ghosts, spirits, and other haunted stuff. Moreau is based on HP Lovecraft's sea creature like monsters, though I do get major Igor vibes from him as well. And Karl Heisenberg is based on Frankenstein, the creator, not the monster. And, of course, the Lycans are based on werewolves.
The Frankenstein thing really comes out when I’ve seen that propeller monster in Frankenstein’s Army

Actually, Heisenberg is based on both Frankenstein and the monster- the book monster, though, not the movie. The book monster was eloquent and quite intelligent, but lamented his physical condition and grew angry with his creator, especially when he wouldn't give him a wife.
I believe Lycans are there own thing. Like, they didn’t originate from RE8 but yes they are related to werewolves. I believe the differences are rather than a humanoid wolf, it’s more of a wolf-oid human.
Heisenberg also feels like it has a bit of Van Helsing considering he wants to kill Miranda
I actually just noticed this from watching the video, when Lady D is speaking to mother Miranda. It looks like she is looking in the mirror out at where Ethan is hiding
Which would make a ton of sense for her to be waiting outside of the door when Ethan unlocks it, she totally saw him and predicted his course of action
Makes sense as the next scene she's waiting and ready for him. She knows he was listening
I'm gonna go deeper here now that you've said that - although I could be looking too much into it. When she throws the desk, theres no wires or anything leading into the phone, despite it being very old fashioned and definitely not cordless. The phone isnt connected, she isn't on the phone to Mother Miranda, she's just saying the things she's saying to draw Ethan into a false sense of security by making him think SHE thinks he's escaped, she knows he's there the whole time...

I love that little detail you don't really understand till a 2nd playthrough. But when you first meet Alcina face to face and she calls Ethan a little stale. With Ethan being you know Mold her daughters think he's delicious. Flies like dead things? Nice little cool detail.
The daughters also love to eat dead bodies, thats why they are so desperate for ethan!
They so emit a chemical that causes men to fall for them which is why they always ask why ethan doesn't love him, which is also a pointer to ethan being dead

Mine too. Sadly in he didn't say that in the language I've played this game the first time. I only knew about this through some englisch gameplay videos and that sucks. In german he is calling Chris just a "verdammten Wichser" which could be translated to "damn wanker" in englisch.
Don't forget the important detail that he did that in an *active volcano*
I started to laugh so much at that reference. I had to pause the game. Is not that funny, but it was out of nowhere.

The infinite old RE references- Chris being called the Boulder punching asshole, Miranda being used a huge inspiration for Umbrella and it’s beginning, all the terms used and the organization others work for. The aesthetic being alarmingly similar to RE4, with the case/inventory being the same and Duke referencing the merchant “what are you buying, what are you selling?”

And finally, the Silent Hills ass Beneviento house. No weapons, no nothing. Hallways are similar, and the giant baby feels like something Silent Hills would’ve used.

Being able to shoot Crows and treasures off the walls and some other areas, hidden treasures you can find and sell.
To me I have a big feeling they're going to remake RE4.

I think it's super far fetched but the reason we never see Ethan's face is to show that the hero can be basically an every day person and not flashy and badass like Leon or Chris.

One very minor detail that I've noticed is that in the intro Chris shoots mia/Miranda in the upper arm as to still not being 100% sure it's not Mia while at the end he shoots her with a clear shot to the head making it clear that it wasn't a miss

I honestly love the fact that Ethan being dead was actually active in RE7 too. If anyone remembers, in the end of RE7 where Ethan gets hallucinations from Eveline, Eveline says “now it’s mommy’s **TURN** to kill you” meaning they already had the frame of mind of Ethan just being dead. I’d say that’s definitely a win.

I chuckled when Hiesenburg said “That Boulder punching asshole”, RE 5 was my first RE so it was nice getting that call back to the most ridiculous part of that game, when I replayed it with my little brother I looked at him before the fight and said “ Wanna punch a Boulder?”

This is so far one of my favourite Resident Evil games in the series. They turned Ethan from a 1 note cardboard to actual character and later into 1 of my favourite Protagonists in the series. Also The villains were all memorable in they own right. My favourites being Lady Dimitrescu, Heinsberg and Mother Miranda. Great video!!!!!

Multiple wins for Lady Dimitrescu being a truly caring mother, a win for the unique character/monster designs, multiple wins for Ethan's determination, and a few more wins for the emotional, tear-jerking ending 😭

If you looked closely in the house you would’ve noticed that ethan had been reading multiple self defense and weapons guides which allowed for him to have the knowledge to check the mag and chamber
Quick thing you missed, during the prologue house scene, Ethan references military training. This helps explain their skill with firearms
Another win: the doc about Spencer being an apprentice of Miranda which ties to the first game and explains the correlation with the umbrella corp

@@PrimalDragon1740 In ethan's house in the room with a lot of books, there is two books ethan can examine, one is about guns written by Kendo, the other is about gothic arquitecture if I remember correctly written by George Trevor, who was the arquitect for the spencer mansion
Additional win here: After the Lycan King fight when you see the hall full of crystals each tip shines. That is not just game design, if you hit or shoot each tip it drops you gems. As well, other parts of the game have glimmering gems hidden on ceilings and upper walls.

the only thing that bugged me over this game was Ethan's reactions to things related to rose, hell im only 19 but i can tell no father that had a BABY lost in an incredibly dangerous setting would be that calm
He's had military training so he knows how to keep calm in tense situations

Seeing an older leon would make me super hype
It could actually reach to that extent, but realistically Leon and Claire would be aged by this point. I was thinking more along the line of Chris acting as mentor to Rose (hoping to play Rose + her abilities), with The Connections making their grand appearance into the scene followed by Ethan’s cameo and y’know how it ends; good beats evil. But we’ll never know tho, it’s just a theory I have. They may just elongate The Connections and end it at RE10. Here’s hoping 🥂

When you’re in the basement after being dragged down by the Lycan, you’re not drawn to look at the darkness but you’re more drawn to looking at the bodies you’re… **surrounded by**
Heisenbergs whole “She controlled me and I wanna kill her” is actually really well played, because it shows he lost his humanity with how far he was willing to go but hadn’t lost it to much to ask for help. It… moved me so much **because I love this man**
Extra reason for the baby being named Rosemary *could* be a slight nod to the film Rosemary's Baby, which features effectively a cult trying to facilitate the demonic possession of a baby (if memory serves, it's been a long time since I saw it). And as a secondary thing, I would note how the initial discussion where Mia points out how Ethan matters may not be just because he's focusing too much on taking care of Rosemary. It's also potential foreshadowing to the state what's left of Ethan is in. He may not notice anything being wrong, but Mia does, and she cares. Third item, am I the only one experiencing a mixture of bemusement and annoyance at how perfectly Ethan's sleeve stays on after his hand is severed? Like I get that it wouldn't necessarily fall off, but it just sits there way too perfectly.
Aside from military training like Chris, he also received one-liner courses from Leon!

He had both hands split down the middle, and both calves slashed.
I thought he got fucked up in 7, but that was nothing compared to what happen in Village.
I don’t know why, but I always find it really cool when the fetus’s mouth expands slightly when she does the final scream after Ethan escapes. It’s such a tiny detail and I love that the devs paid so much attention to that kind of stuff.
"Chris Redfield would like to have a word with you." that line killed me
Read this as it appeared. Perfect.
In reference to Mia and Ethan’s argument near the start and why it’s the real Mia: You have to understand Mia was a mercenary who transported bioweapons before the events of 7, and is indirectly responsible for the entirety of 7’s events. That, plus her own survivors guilt would be compounded knowing her husband is actually dead. “YOU matter”, she says, meaning she wants Ethan to understand his second chance and how precious his life really is.
I finished what I thought was the best RE game in years only to come on CZcams and find a severe lack of videos gushing about how good this game is. Thank you for making this.
I also took notice the first time that "Mia" was more angry than anything with that first shot which made me think the initial role of Chris was related to her being still infected in some way.
12:57 in RE2 Remake its explained that the herbs used to make any healing item in the game essentially have unexplainable healing abilities beyond any form of professional medicine
Honestly the four Lords are the best characters Resident Evil has given us

One: When You're playing as Chris there's a file and pictures that relate Miranda's involvement back to Spencer Aka one of the founding leaders of the Umbrella. This Wraps everything back together and relating this game to the other old games such as the 1st 2nd and 3rd RE and the 5th RE where Spencer is killed by Wesker. Spencer was The Student Of Mother Miranda and Because of Her She is a factor in the Racoon City incident and the creation of Umbrella.

real talk the entire game took me about 20 hours since i pretty much looted EVERY single treasure and item

Your whole 'Rosemary to mourn the dead' win in the beginning just had something click to me, the one time he calls her by her full birthname instead of just Rose is when he's about to face his death at the end.
I fucking always love your opening and closing theme it actually gives me excitement and vague hope from my own existence also thank you I’ve been waiting for this type of channel for video games.
This game is SO addictive, the story, gameplay and atmosphere melds so well together. I've already played the campaign 3 times and it was unique every time. Village is probably my second favorite resident evil, next to RE2

Capcom really out did themselves
The table scene in Luisa's house is supposed to mirror RE7, including the positioning of the people around it to evoke that uneasiness you mentioned. Anton is Lucas; Luisa is Marguerite (fun fact Sara Coates voiced both roles) and Leonardo is Jack. You're supposed to get the sensation that they're going to turn on you.

I absolutely loved when you emerge from the bush and the looming castle in the distance with distant bells
So, one thing I noticed in the storybook parts; so we know that the 4 monsters are a reference to each of the 4 Lords, and they all show up in the order we defeat them in the game. What I just noticed while watching your video, is that there were three bats who flew away before the Bat Lord reveals himself to the girl, referencing the daughters. Those bats are also in black, like the daughters, while the Bat Lord is in white like Lady D. Also, the Witch appears in a cloud of ravens, just like Miranda does. It's just a really well done sequence!
I would love to see you do "before your eyes" it is sad and beautiful in every way

Hey, an extra win, in the narration of the story of the book in the begining, each Monster (The bat, the weaver and the fish) give willingly a gift to the child, but not the Horse, and in the story, Lady D, Beneviento and Moreau are loyal to Miranda but not Karl, so Its kinda cool if you think about it.
Kinda sad that I don't think Ethan will come back. We saw what happens when the mold starts disintegrating. It just goes to a pile of ashes that I don't think they come back from. At least if there is another game we will probably follow Rose's story since she still has some of Ethan and Mia's strange powers. I'm nlg i almost cried from the ending, especially seeing Rose
Extra win:
All the lords + Miranda and Ethan have their story involve family.
Ethan's entire motivation is to save Rose, the one member of his family he thinks is left.
Lady Dimitrescu had her 3 daughters and became more enraged the more you killed them. Plus, her vampire shtick was caused by a hereditary blood disease.
Beneviento had a backstory surrounding her parents' death and there was all those potshots thrown at Ethan's sense of family with the fetus section.
Moreau also seemed to lack living family, and instead took Miranda's family dynamic too close to heart, seeing her as his mother and being desperate to prove himself to her.
Heisenberg is probably the most different in this theme, and he completely rejects notions of family in any regard, whether it be his 'siblings' in the other lords and 'mother' in Miranda, or Ethan's protectiveness of Rose, trying to convince to use her as a weapon against Miranda.
Miranda herself started all this because of her obsession with bringing back her lost daughter, and clearly built her cult as a pseudo-family, what with her always being referred to as 'Mother Miranda' by her subjects.

Okay so for the rotating statue puzzle in Lady D’s castle I didn’t see the plaque on the wall for the riddle. I literally rotated them on how I assumed nobles would think the order goes. I got the whole thing right on my first try.
For me, Hisenburg was my fav as well, and the doll. I like Dimitrescu but mostly for her weapons and the scale is awesome to see moving around with the rest of the castle

I played 7 and 8 back to back on hard and my favorite part is the ethan reveal. It makes all the damage i took make soo much sense. I still had the same reaction to him losing his arm as you did

-- The inside of the Duke's wagon (besides seemingly being bigger on the inside like Mary Poppins' purse), has an old crest with an owl, much like the other lords have their own crests, suggesting he might have been a 5th lord a long time ago. An amusing offshoot of that crest: the word 'duke' comes from the Old French word 'duc', meaning both leader and owl.
