A very useful plugin. Using the layer opacity option makes the work easier, but it may be worth using the Gimp graphics program first. You can use the wand to remove e.g. an unnecessary background from the image (you then have an alpha channel of transparency) and use the eraser to remove unnecessary inscriptions, icons, etc. Then your image is even more transparent and comfortable because it does not cover your view of the map or data layer. However, this additional effort is not always profitable.
