Thank you for your interest in my channel! 😁
Please keep in mind that there are many different mushroom cultivation techniques. My personal techniques may not all be stereotypical but it's how I've learned through the last 12 years of growing all kinds of edible and medicinal mushrooms works best for me.
I am a native Coloradoan so my climate may vary drastically from where you're at.
Also please don't be intimidated or discouraged by my flow hood. everything I do in there could easily be achieved in a still air box.

Nice video. Thanks. Staples work pretty well for 'sealing' the bags when pressure cooking. I just roll the very top over on itself like 4 times and staple it like 6 times on the rim.
I like that you used grams. Thanks for sharing this.
Spwnrunning
Use a 2" paddle bit on a drill, drill a few holes, and soak for an hour. I've never done this, but it seems like it would be a lot easier than breaking the bricks by hand.
Nice and clear.easy to follow.would love to see the result.btw what mushroom are you inoculating?
Thank you for your feedback!
Substrate to monotub video will be posted soon 👍
To keep videos off the age restriction list, and safe for everyone, I don't discuss specific species. This substrate is good for any dung loving mushroom.

I note that when introducing the grain spawn to the substrate bags you did not wear gloves, didn't use alcohol and put your fingers inside the bags. Do you have any problems with contamination?
I'm glad someone asked!
I used to always wear gloves and I felt like they were harder to keep clean than my hands.
To keep things rolling in the video, I sometimes edit out the part where I scrub down with rubbing alcohol. I clean up every time my hands leave the clean air or touch anything unsterile.
No contamination.
Do you think straw is necessary for grass lovers or would this recipe be fine as it is for them?
For wood Loving mushrooms like oysters I use a totally different recipe containing wood shavings, wood pellets, wheat bran and gypsum. I'll do a new video on that soon 😊
Where do I get the metal liner you used inside the canner?
@@JustinChapman-uf6dt It's just a piece of sheet metal with slight bends about every 4inches. I made it myself ✌️
How did you make the flow hood?
I bought the filter from fungi.Com and the squirrel cage fan from Amazon then I designed the melamine box around them.
Maybe I'll do a quick video about it 👍
Where did u get the bags from
Amazon
So does this not sterilize the sub rate instead of pasturizing since you didn't check the core temp
Yes, it's sterilized
What would happen if you just injected 50mL of liquid culture directly into these sterilized bags?
@@David-rk4hz I think that's a lot. It might make the bag too wet. 10ml would be great 👍
@@TheCOhobbyist so no need to spawn on WBS or any other suitable grain, first? You can directly inoculate this substrate with LC? Thanks again!!
What is your recipe for achieving 6oz of grain spawn each jar?
Check out my grain spawn video 😊

Looks like your substrate is awfully dry. I never saw you check for proper saturation with the tried and true squeeze test.
@@te4145
No need for squeeze test. This is a tried and true recipe I've used it for hundreds of bags.
