    I've been leasing plots of soil and wasting so much of my youth turning it into workable land for farming salad. I've had to give up many acres and hundreds of hours into turning quality dirt. a system like this is so attractive because you can take it with you, and when integrated into cheaper caterpillar tunnels this would be the ideal system as my body doesn't want to bend over or move compost anymore.

    Hello Jenny,I am very much interested in setting up a hydroponic system in Guyana which is very warm and humid.there won’t be any need for heating but the opposite. I believe it will be more challenging to achieve the ideal conditions in a completely enclosed structure.Desperately need all the expert advice I can get.Thanks again.Victor.

      When you dig down 2 meters or so is the earth cold? You can build a heat sink that will help pull the heat out of the nutrient water. Most people in your environment use a chiller to cool the water. If you can keep the water at around 22c and below 27c you can grow leaf crops. Climate is cooled by a cool wall but is only so effective since your air is already saturated. Most growers use greenhouse with very high sides walls and use lots of natural air flow. Air movement and cool nutrient water is the ticket. Please email us at info@amhydro.com with your project questions and we can start working on a quote for you.

      Sorry for the late reply. The constructions plans for greenhouses do not include head house drawings and general layouts. This of course is case by case depending on the needs of the grower. If this is a requirement we can definitely add that into the system estimate.

    HI. Why must you have double the space of the farm size you want? Like for 5 acres you need 10 acres land.

    • @AmericanHydroponics
      @AmericanHydroponics  Před 4 lety +1

      It's a general rule of thumb so include, parking, space around the greenhouse from other landscaping, parking, out buildings, ect. When we say 2.5 acre greenhouse, we are referring to the production space only of the greenhouse.

      The 10K package for example can be run by one person full time. With hydroponics, the days you harvest and rotate crops are full work days. The rest of the week is general maintenance and making sure markets are happy. There are also quarterly and yearly greenhouse tasks that can make for some long hours. Please email info@amhydro.com if you have more questions.

    • @AmericanHydroponics
      @AmericanHydroponics  Před 4 lety +1

      LED's are great when going vertical or indoor CEA but they are very expensive. The cost benefits are over time since they are so efficient and use less KWH. For our needs in our geographical location, using HID fixtures as supplemental lighting more than satisfies our lighting requirements.

    • @AmericanHydroponics
      @AmericanHydroponics  Před 3 lety +1

      Not usually. Panels block light and sunlight for plants is free. Maybe someday they will have opaque panels that turn sunlight into energy (come on Elon Musk). Solar Panels are usually detached from the growing structures or on top of packing houses.

    I've only just started watching, but I still see the produce being grown horizontally. Can this be scaled up vertically? I'm envisioning produce skyscrapers capable of growing exponentially larger quantities of food per acre.

    • @AmericanHydroponics
      @AmericanHydroponics  Před 2 lety +4

      If your goal is to grow as much as you can in a space then by all means go vertical. If your goal is to stay profitable then you should stick to one tier and use natural sunlight as much as possible (it’s still free). Lighting is usually one of the largest expenses and each tier needs to be light saturated to grow full heads of produce. Natural sunlight cannot penetrate. Vertical also adds numerous issues in regard to ergonomics (rotating plants, harvesting, etc…), inspections, airflow, etc…

Not 100% sure on permitting, hydronic heating floor, etc... but close to another 45K. A full acre on the other hand, would cost just over a million. Thank for watching.

      It is possible but high water table does not work with recirculating NFT systems. The tank needs to be buried and a high water table will float the reservoir. Small systems can use above ground tanks but an 80' table is maximum size due to required pitch for return plumbing. Check out Helical Outpost www.helicalholdings.com/outposts. They have developed a turnkey package that's using our NFT systems. System is designed to deploy almost anywhere. The possibilities are endless.
