I’ve watched so many ISTP vs INTP videos and this one is by far one of the best once, very clear detailed explanation of both. I’ve always been very active and love weight lifting which made me think I use Se a lot but I’m also very much a minimalist, like comfort, but at the same time always think of new possibilities that I could be doing, what’s next, eager to explore and how can I improve myself etc.. so now I’m more inclined to type myself as an INTP

ISTP is much more interested in what is, rather than what could --> is probably the best way to describe us 😂
My sister always seem to live for the future and here is me living in the present 😅
ISTP likes it to be direct and critize people for not learning from their past mistakes --> also very accurate, at least for me
I always ask my students, "why are you still doing the same thing that hinders you from getting better at understanding lectures?"

Something I want to add is that direct types tend to tell you what to do, while informative gives you information and expect you to do what is best with it. Informative types feel that telling what to do or give short answers is rude , while direct types feel that not going to the point is a waste.

Another comparison. INTPs plan to do tasks. ISTPs do them. As an INTP, I envy the ISTPs I know--they are such talented artisans, and they actually complete projects. I have always been hands on, but procrastinating is higher in my stack than doing.

I realize your post is a few months old, but oh well (in case this isn't helpful for you, it might be someone else!)
ISTP and INFJ are both in the Beta quadra because they share the same cognitive functions (Ti, Se, Ni, Fe) just in a different order. INTP, meanwhile, shares two of those same functions - Ti and Fe. So, it seems like you can narrow down your functions quite well by knowing two pretty certainly (Ti and Fe.) You'd want to focus on whether you have Se / Ni or Ne / Si.

Why is this so hard? 😆. The video was cool but it made everything much more difficult. Firstly, it is said everywhere that INTPs dwell in their thoughts a lot whereas ISTPs criticize them for it, because they need something practical. Personally, I think my prevalent type is ISTP, I like to see the practicality of things but I spend a lot of time in my mind as well. Secondly, if I understand correctly, INTPs need to have a bit of learning before acting, whereas ISTPs don't. As for me, I don't mind learning but being practical is also important. Also, it turns out that ISTPs make rush decisions almost without thinking whereas INTPs don't? On the one hand, I am rushy and I often choose something that appealed to me at first glance but on the other hand, I often like to think everything through, consider different opinions and ideas. Wait, does that make me INTP now? Or both? Or maybe I'm getting everything wrong? Or maybe I'm just neither types...?

I'm so 50/50 on the tests. I am good with the physical, like learning by doing but also enjoy reading a technical book without actually doing too. I'm also good with understanding systems, working with system and coming up with solutions. I've had various roles in IT from hands on building computers, working as a systems administrator, being a networking engineer. I'm straight forward with telling someone what I think. I probably don't give in depth history when explaining how something works but get me on the right topic and I'll know and understand the subject matter very well and talk about it in depth. On a meeting I'll take command and lead when needed and ensure my input is heard but I do not want to be in the spotlight or a leader/manager. Probably missed lots of other things out. I live more in the present and do things on a whim rather than have a strong sense of the future. I'm happy to go with the flow as long as it's not taking me away from what I want to do and I'm pretty easy going but will criticise or offer solutions to the problem I see - often when my solution isn't always wanted 😬 I just float between the two types.
    I still don't know which type I am 🤣

What if you do both S and N? Because ive took a test and my I, T, and P were solidly grounded. But my S or N were like right in the middle leaning a little more towards S according to the results. Any insights for me?

It is often the case for INTP and ISTP to have balanced N and S because they lead with Ti and N and S are closer to each other. So the question is more: what kind of N and S do you have? Si and Ne ? or Ni and Se?

It is not possible to be half S and half N, those tests are not telling you percentages of your personality. Rather, its more like how sure the test is that you are that particular letter.
ISTP brain function stack is - Ti-Se-Ni-Fe
INTP brain function stack is - Ti-Ne-Si-Fe
There is no way to "exhibit both tendencies depending on what hobby..." If youre an INTP, your Se is near the end of your function stack and one of your weaknesses, it causes us to disassociate with the world around us and get sometimes trapped within our Ne allowing us to seem aloof or distant in the midst of conversation. Where it is the auxillary in an ISTP stack, being one of the very main ways you perceive the world. It is impossible to be split between both, no 2 types are similar enough that you can mistake yourself as the other in an objective manner!
