GAWD I HATE the term "Hair Metal". People call Whitesnake "Hair Metal" because of 3 videos in 1987, but W/S was a legitimate offshoot of Deep Purple-David Covrerdale's version of Rainbow as far as I'm concerned-and it in various incarnations, W/S/ featured Ian Pace and John Lord.
Metal's connection with long hair was the "hippie era" and psychedelic, "Acid Rock" which gave rise to Hendrix, Purple, Zep and Sabbath....and YES...there were several bands I was in right after highschool that I could not have joined WITHOUT long hair, but if you're not in the Army/Marines, WHY are YOU letting ANYBODY tell you a man's hair has to be short? Because you can't think for yourself?!
