The pistol grip's dovetail was added to keep your hand out of the way of the slide. If they were going to remove it, they'd have to cut down the slide's length. They could have easily made the grip longer though.
He is making fun of it which just shows he has a lack of understanding of the reasons for a dovetail in real arms.

Basically a Mega XL Big Shock, which would be much easier to carry and use than this and still carry a spare dart.
if games have special rules for GIrthy darts in HVZ this might be a good option as your special ammo hold out ir modded into a Keyhole ...or just wait till put of darts makes a little rocket barrel for it

Random thought about the paint: Why does nerf paint the right side and not the left? Most people are going to hold this with their right hand, so most of the time they'll see the less/unpainted side

I think the thing to remember is the cost of the ammo. The blasters are working better than I expected and using tools to fix the grip on this blaster would make it worth it, but the ammo refills are going to be crazy expensive. Hasbro makes so much money on them and with the foam to dart ratio and lack of a current third parry alternative they're not currently worth it in my opinion
This ammo isn't as hard to lose

Honestly this looks alright. Mega XL looks alright but personally mega wa thick mega XL is a bit big. This looks flat out fun.
I think Nerf wanted to make the initial XL line have the logo very clearly visible (on the right side), and have a distinct family look. That trapped this single shot into being a bulky blaster. A more war-worthy single shot would be a Mega XL Bigshock, which would still be smaller than the Rival Curve Shot.
I love it. It's huge barrel with the tiny handle. I hope we get some kind of hammer action mega XL blaster at some point... Hellboy's Samaritan anyone?

I feel like Hasbro could've done some sort of internal mag or something so it's not just a comically large Jolt that shoots huge darts and has a slide.
Another thing about elite 2.0: my turbine, which I was really excited for, came with the mag release broken. It wouldn’t hold mags and, because it’s elite 2.0, I can’t fix it

Deltarune reference outta nowhere!!! Is being a [BIG SHOT] worth the 20 [KROMER]? I think we all know the answer!!! [Hyperlink Blocked]
Got this thing a few weeks ago with plans to make it an underslung masterkey, kinda like how a Magnus is for a Stryfle. Here's a few things I've learned, just to add to the knowledge pool:
-It can take a BUTTLOAD of K26. Not much compression, but a whole lot of spring length. You MIGHT be able to get a full coil in there, but you'd have trouble constraining it properly.
-K26 is an improvement, but not massively. With about 8 inches, I went from 55-58 to 60-63. That said, not really a hard prime, and not the most K26 you can stick in there.
-The reason both of those are possible is the MASSIVE gear reduction. Strong gears, no worries about them breaking.
-But that also means that then entirety of the prime is pretty necessary to get it to catch. Meaning that slide travel can't be reduced. This really began to dampen my hopes for a masterkey.
-First bit of really bad news: unlike the Magnus, the slide primes from the back instead of the front. The gear track extends all the way to the back corner of the slide, meaning it'll be REALLY hard to reduce how much the slide sticks out. Meaning this thing is going to be super impractical to mount underneath almost any blaster, as any magazine would get in the way.
-On the plus side, you *might* be able to convert it to direct prime? If you can pull off both parts of the slide, you could probably attach some kind of pull onto the gear track, so that's something.
-Almost all the length of the blaster is necessary. You could MAYBE cut off some of the barrel, but only for about half a dart's length.
So, I have yet to find a practical way to turn this into a masterkey, aside from making it side-mounted insntead of underslung. That said, I'm tempted to say that there's a lot of potential in this blaster, and I wouldn't rule it out. You could very easily cut off the dart storage and grip, which lends itself much better to a masterkey than a standalone blaster, but a potential MegaXL Magnus could probably prove all of this irrelevant.

I think this will find its niche in games with special ammo type rules, since it's small enough that it doesn't have to be a primary, unlike the other two.
I did saw A glimpse of some kind of instructions on how to use the blasters on the extern bottom face of the box, so there was technically instructions ahahah

Mega XL darts are fun honestly. I got the boomdozer and while it's absolutely ridiculously huge, it's a fun time with this ammo type. I had a weird issue with my first one, it jammed stuck in like a day, but my second one after returning it has been perfect. I'm honestly curious to see future blasters for this ammo type. More than ultra and hyper, I hope this has a future.

Sooooo, I'd really love to get my hands on one. A couple of things I'd specifically like to try: embed a magnet in the slide and the blaster at the front so it audibly/by feel really "snaps" shut. Also cut of the dart storage, there seems to be a visible line on the outer shell, might this be just a completely seperate piece/easy to remove? I'd like to see what the plunger tube is like. Honestly, it looks as if this is "just" a very simple slide back + catch system that might be "easy" to integrate into/slap onto other blasters and maybe even rebarrel for other types of ammo?
