I can't for the life of me understand why, as a nurse, I was REQUIRED on penalty of immediate dismissal and possible charges of abuse, not to mention lawsuits to deal with combative patients without putting a mark on them. It took a calm demeanor and thinking through different tactics in seconds to do that. I've been hit, kicked across rooms, arms and fingers nearly broken, hair pulled out, pinched to the point of blood blisters and da*n near drowned in bath water. I managed to reach retirement without failing in my duty. Why the he!! can't cops do a better job at subduing people who aren't even fighting them? It's the difference in training, good ethics and strict expectations of my superiors is all I can come up with.

I was only 19yo and was horribly embarrassed, an older nurse just told me to ignore them and act like it didn't bother me and they'd quit. The difference between men and women I guess

Victim made a good point: “Get off the street!” does not apply to someone already on the sidewalk.
(Similarly, “I need you to exit the vehicle,” is not a command. The cop is expressing his feeling of need.). Shouting louder isn’t going to fix these problems or others if the victim doesn’t speak English or can’t hear at all.

One thing the trainer for my course taught us was "Make sure you can justify your actions in court" which I kept with me and as a result I didn't have to go hands on very much even doing doors (bouncer). Tried to utilize conflict management as much as I could.

I was asleep in the back passenger seat of a roommates car when she was pulled over. He didn't ask for her ID or ticket her for a traffic violation. Instead he yanked open the door I was leaning against, slung me to the ground and arrested me. I've never had so much as a parking ticket before but here he was arresting me for ""driving on a suspended license ". Which it wasn't but I wasn't driving either. When I went to court I got lucky. The old man who's driveway she had pulled into for the stop was the judges uncle. He watched it all go down and came to court for me. They had to drop all charges but I got harassed for 2 yrs afterwards by that cop. I later found out his issue. I had met him at a grocery store, he had asked for my number and I said no. He didn't like that. He had gotten embarrassed because his "buddy " was with him. IDGAFlip! I wasn't interested. At least the judge removed it from my record. Wish I'd sued his ass!😔

Then the other 1 moves them down the street so that what they are trying to film is around the corner. Stopping them from collecting video evidence of their actions.

Vaughn was the homeless guy that was literally stomped in the head by police while he was handcuffed on the ground.
