The auto mode is great on the 262 model. I like the tool knowing when to stop forcing when not wanted.

I use ryobi. I got into them with I first got into the battery tools, and now I have to many tools/batteries to change brands.
I’ve never had them “let me down”. Does my uncle out drive me with dealt/milwakee? Yes, yes he does. Did I not spend 200$ on a battery for my ryobi and it still works, also yes

That's why they sell promos so cheap... Once you're knee deep in the ecosystem they know you'll end up neck deep.
Gets boaring when people keep comparing budget tools to Premium tools , The Milwaukee should be better with the price it costs compare to Ryobi , i just dont find it all that much off a flex when a tool that costs a lot more performs better so it should
I agree with that. On my side, I'm trying to show how much better of a tool you can get for what I feel isn't that much more cost (given you buy on sale). The sawzall comparison I did was eye-opening. I could nvr recommend the Ryobi after testing.
I think the "high performance" communication takes place within the motors now. No need for the battery and motor to have extra communication tabs. Little weird quirks like this come up when you try to keep platform compatibility as long as Ryobi has.
Fair enough. I was definitely surprised not to see contacts in the impacts. Admittedly, keeping up with Ryobi is not my forte.
I could have sworn last year the battery contacts on the back was for high performance, now you are saying even that's not needed because it's handled in the motor? Not confusing at all.
I have the single speed one, just because I got it on sale, but it makes sense to me to pay an extra 30 bucks for the extra features if you want them or save a little if you don't

You can buy better but do you need it. Ryobi is more than good enough for any homeowner. Now true professionals that work them every day thats a different story. But as a house painter/ homeowner, my ryobi tools have been great.

I seen a video of a person drilling 300 screws on a ryobi vs dewalt 240 screws.
Dewalt did it fast but ryobi did more screws overall
Personally, I'm just going to do it faster and swap batteries.
Variable speed for larger holes matters when the speeds come from a switched gearbox for more torque, not so much from electronic speed limiting.
Agreed to all except for the Milwaukee part mainly because my battery doesn’t fit Milwaukee lol but yes the A,1,2,3 drill is ok but sometimes it gets confused on the mode. So go for the other ryobi drill, if you want a laugh do this exact same test with a none HP battery and you will like the results

I feel if you dont actually try the tools youll never like them, your mind is too bussy hating on them. Ryobi was never for indrustial or hard work, it mainlt for home use, have a garage full of ryobi tools never had an issue still going strong. Cheap and effective what else can I ask for pay double or triple for something that will do the same job.
I ran Ryobis daily for about 3 years in construction. For the 1x month user, they're great.
I feel like the extra contacts are for higher amp devices like a hammer drill, that way it doesnt burn up contacts
Their hammer drills aren't especially high current. Maybe you're thinking of saws or leaf blowers.
I though this as well, but extra contacts were not on their HP Recip. Thought that was odd.
It taps on reverse to reduce stripping or breaking fasteners. Likewise with driving. Not everyone will prefer it depending on their experience and skill.

If you say so. I've been successfully using a single speed impact driver for quite a while and never stopped and thought that I failed because I didn't have more speeds. ;)
@@stinkycheese804 You didn’t understand, I am saying that speeds 1 and 2 are sometimes necessary as you don’t always need the 3 speeds, yes you can vary speeds by pressing less but it’s annoying when you are on the job, sometimes my job only requires a 1 speed so I put it there and work.
When you factor in the price of the Milwaukee to the Ryobi I can buy two to the one so therefore it is twice the drill

I just got finished putting up an 8000 square foot of metal building and then have a bit of problem out of anything except for one drill that I dropped three times from 28 ft on the concrete and it broke the casing but outside of that the drill still worked and yes by the time you factor in the cost of the battery battery chargers and everything else yes they're still cheaper I can still buy about just two for one so you can call it girly mouth or whatever but it's money in my pocket
When your furnishing tools for guys to work they don't give a damn what you furnish them cuz they're not going to respect it and they're going to tear them up and don't give a crap that's why I don't go and buy them a high price tools just for them to tear up at the end of the year when you factor in the price what you spent on tools versus nine I am far money ahead 😭
Only certain tools use the contact on the back. My brushed versions have it too. Its not related to hp

@@mfcbuilds It amazes me people force themselves to work with impact drivers, ive seen people changing tires with a driver. A 3/8th stubby has more torque than even the m18 impact driver, and then theres still the whole line of m18 impact wrenches. Could you imagine what their 1 inch dhandle would do to that lag bolt with 2200 *ft-lbs* of torque

That's awesome. Years ago, when Ryobi was blueish-green, I did gutter installs. Constantly dropped them off ladders, and they still ran. I would buy a new one about every 9 months... BUT that's daily use, 6 days a week. So pretty damn good.
Well they (4 sp.) haven't even been on the market that many years, so not sure where you're getting the idea that you've been using them "forever" ? I've had no issues with my cheapest-model-they-make Ryobi impact driver, but I don't drop it a lot and I don't push it like it's a race and I want to burn out my tools to win a race. ;)
I was looking over the models of Dewalt half inch impacts and it's a massive mess lol. I think these power tool companies make changes and upgrades as they find new ways to improve and/or save on manufacturing. One model might have the best of the best, then the next generation might beat it with a midrange model, simply because of changes. We could see reductions in performance to bring down prices too. I don't even try to understand them anymore hahaha. I think you just need to find the right model with the specs that work for the application.

Yeah it’s over heating the newer m12 get a lot hotter than the older model. There new 18 runs hotter as well . Don’t think they will last as long as the older model’s

You needed to do the Ryobi with a 4ah battery, it gives 15% more power...you cant compare Appels with oranges...

Yes and no. Usually when I grab for a 1/4" impact driver, it's because I don't need extra torque and like the weight and size savings, except these from Ryobi aren't especially compact. IMO, if you have some of their sub-4Ah packs, might as well use them, whether in a 1/4" impact driver, or one of their smaller flashlights, are some of the best tools to use them in.
Use some 4ah batteries on the Ryobi man cmon. It will pull 3 times more. The amp discharge ability is way more on a 4ah vs the 2ah.
For sure. I was thoroughly impressed with simply 2ah. We actually tested these with 6ah off camera. I like to test the drills with the batteries that are included as this is how most will use them.
Not a huge fan of a lot of the Ryobi one+ tools. The older impact driver with the tri led lighting was in my opinion better than these.
These were pretty impressive for performance. Can't say how they will do long term.
But they are huge and heavy. Besides, it makes me laugh every time I see the LED light on my Ryobi recip saw. Yeah I'm going to be pruning my trees at midnight with that.
Why not give away the best tools? Don't be silly, then what would be the incentive for people to pay more to get them?
I am not an impact driver snob I suppose, because if it's not going to be ultra-compact so it doesn't fit in the tightest spaces anyway, then I'm fine with their brushed P235. I got it from Direct Tools as a blemished item for $21 delivered. I don't use an impact driver all day in a profession so I don't need a big overlap between what my clutched drill and my impact wrench can do. The impact driver only gets used for medium to smaller fasteners.
The real question is, if you are trying to do the biggest hardest mostest possible, why even get a 1/4" drive impact driver? This is kind of why 3/8" impact drivers and wrenches exist. Right now, with the current state of the 1/4" driver market, it's easy to generate enough torque to wreck 1/4" bits.
It helps that they hammer, but it's going opposing directions trying to squeeze as much as possible out of 1/4" when larger exists.
I use my M12 over my Ryobi due to size and power. My Ryobi is good, but the M12 is way better to carry
It really is an enjoyable size. Fits right in my tool belt.
Yes, you are a fanboy! How could anyone not be? This is why M12 has such a following they beat up on other brands 18v for 12v prices. Which is usually similar to the cheaper brands' flagship models. They also have a massive range of tools, I think only ryobi has more. I just can't get past Ryobi's giant battery.
Even being a fanboy. I would still buy someone like my father (uses a handful of times per year) the Ryobi. Luckily for him... he gets my hand-me-down Milwaukees 😂
I can’t not comprehend why buy the new ryobi when you can get the milwakee m12(better and somewhat lighter) I guess the only downfall on milwakee m12 doesn’t have a ton of tools like ryobi.
I always recommend getting 18v first. If you are ever going to get into circ saw, recipes, or routers

The Ryobi will blow the M12 away if he used a 4ah ryobi battery . He used a m12 4ah. He needs to use the 4ah not 2ah on the Ryobi.
You know the answer why this exists it doesn't exist because it physically makes sense it exists because of marketing and the mass majority of people don't know a whole lot about tools or do very much research before buying them so they see professional on the box and they go must be better and they buy it it's all marketing it's a way to make more income off of people that don't know better that's all it is.
Completely agree. I found it crazy that it's exactly the same tool. I'm either happy about the deal on the combo kit model or pissed at the "pro" version
