I have all the cables hooked up properly but I am not sure what I have to turn off in the view on the pod go. Hi Jason, great video ! I just wondered where you purchased those large button covers for the PodGo ?

  • @barryh3607
    @barryh3607 Před 3 lety +1

    Jason, so technically you can run 2 different types of "4 cable" methods with the POD Go? This method allows you to use the POD amp simulators with your tube amp, but you just have to turn off the cabinet simulator since you are using your real EVH cab. With this your amp needs to be on the clean channel, and then it bypasses all of your tone and gain controls on the head?
    The other method would be to use the POD for all the 100 effects only (like a stompbox modeler), and you turn off both the POD amp simulator and cab sim. Hook up like a normal pedal board with gtr in, gtr out to front of amp. Then use the effects send and return on pod to the amps effects send and return loop?

      @@JasonCGuitarOfficial Thanks for the quick answer! Would that change anything in the way I have to plug in the cables though? To be honest, I'm still a bit confused. How would I turn off the preamp on a tube amp so that I could use the preamp of the pod go?

    thanks for the video Jason - been debating for a very hot minute on getting one of these to simplify live shows, but never quite understood the 4 cable method. Def would love to do this, since I want to use my own amp sounds while using the FX and I/O of the pod go. basically my goal is to eliminate most/all of my pedals and just use the FX and i/o of the POD go / hx stomp / etc etc, be able to send a direct out with a cabinet sim, and still get the stage sound of my amp
    Couple q's - (1) By chance, what kind of cables are you using?
    (2) Have you ever tried running a specific pedal (in my case it would be a favorite overdrive), BEFORE the pod go, into the chain? {how would you even do this?}
    (2B) do you think this is possible while still using the 4 cable method?
    (3) do you have a vid somewhere showing how to set up the actual patch for this method? :)
    thanks dude! sorry for the wall of text haha

    Can't you place the cabinet at the end and use the AMP OUT instead of the MAIN OUT (Mono)? This way the cabinet is automatically bypassed.
    I currently connect my AMP OUT to the amp Return. This allows me to use effects, amps, etc after the preamp and go directly into the power amp yet use the actual amp cabinet and not the Pod Go cabinet. So far is works well. 4cm enables a few things. With the fx loop enabled on the pod you can bypass the amp and cab on the pod and use it for effects going into the amp and in the amp's fx loop. With the fx loop bypassed on the pod go and the amp block enabled you can use the pod's amp model into your power amp and cab. The method you're using is perfect if you don't want to use your amp's preamp and you're only using the pod's amp models.

      @@untitleduser666 What if you want to use an amp model for your dirty tone, but bypass all amp/cab modeling when going clean to instead get the real sound of your clean amp without any coloration from the pod? It looks as though you may be able to assign the amp model to a foot switch to turn on and off. If this is the case, does that not render the fx loop unnecessary, or am I completely misguided?

      Route a drive before the Pre-amp and listen... then route it after the Pre-amp and you’ll instantly realize the benefit of the 4 cable method. Before preamp = tone magic if you have a decent amp. There are also a lot of videos regarding signal chain explanations.
