If any famous youtubers ever do a deep dive into this it would be awesome. There has to be people still living who are connected to Ann or the band who probably have some good insider info on how this all came together. If anyone comes across anything like that please post in the comments.

I can't believe it, but the lady in the green beany hat and the salmon pink blouse is my Granny! She always was a character and I did see the original broadcast but never thought I'd see it again. Thanks You Tube for bringing her back if only for a few seconds!!
How can you not feel good about seeing all these older gentlemen and women's having fun dancing 💃 with the bay city roller look at all does people who are having fun dancing 💃 I'm so glad to have been a teenager back in the seventies we had great music and styles of music and clothes
Wow, I had seen BCR clips with Ann Margaret before….excluding the audience. This video is brilliant 😅 I did clinical training at a skilled nursing facility in Los Angeles, and residents would have benefited from a performance by the BCR lads to get their blood moving. Thank you, Glen 😊
Just because you get old doesn't mean you can't rock. It's a coincidence that I found this video right after watching an old Western with Willy Nelson as an aging bank robber & his gang and aging lawmen. "Once upon a time on a train". Great old movie.
Ann-Margaret is such a good person and she never minded doing shows like this, she just loved to entertain, not sure if she is still entertaining today or not. I always like her.
This is awesome! I love all the old ladies up dancing. Also that one old dude with his arms all up in the air. I was a huge fan back in the day, and I still like their music. Thanks for the video.
One of the truly special treasures of You Tube. And if the information below by Doug is correct, and I'm sure it is,all this took place about a mile and a half from my 7 year old home. Its not just hysterical but,to me at least, incredibly poignant.Things like this, happy accidents, don't happen to famous pop groups anymore. No money in it.
Ann-Margret musical variety special her guests are Sid Caesar and her husband, actor.and producer Roger Smith. She sings with her musical guests: The Bay City Rollers and pianist Michel LeGrand. This was shot in 1975.
tyler denaro it breaks my heart... and I was so stuck on Leslie that I never notice how good looking Alan was. I think when I was a teen I saw him as a old guy.. now I’m like wtf I must have been blind lol... RIP Alan!!
It had to be filmed in England, she lived in Borehamwood in Hertfordshire and there were a lot of studios in nearby Elstree. It must have been filmed in 1976, the year of the Montreal Olympics and I had been watching them and fell asleep to see the Bay City Rollers and when the camera panned round to show the audience was quite amused, but when I saw her in the audience I just couldn't believe it. I suspect she went with the OAP Club she belonged to. She was a real character!! Hope this helps
Nope 1975, Ann-Margret musical variety special her guests are Sid Caesar and her husband, actor.and producer Roger Smith. She sings with her musical guests: The Bay City Rollers and pianist Michel LeGrand.
Thanks for the info Doug. It may have been filmed in late 1975 because the Bay City Rollers lineup changed in 76 so it's possible it didn't air til the Olympics. Anyway, very entertaining clip and your granny stole the show. :)
Did I just see Rudolph Valentino in the audience...? These seniors know good music when they hear it.....ear horn or not! Happy to see they are enjoying themselves to a new kind of fun music!
Glad you found this clip. What country was this filmed in? How did your granny get to be in the audience? I'd love any background info you can provide on this clip if you don't mind.
:) Hi CZcams Search Inquiries, how can I help you? :O Hi. I'm looking for something that speaks about the cultural clash not only between borders, national and international, but also generational, between the old and the young. I want a video that sweeps across the broad gaps between communication, language, the arts, music, age and societal mores. I want a video that shouts over meager generalisations and says LOOK, here it is! Here is a legitimate record and statement addressing those issues. :) We have Ann-Margret singing with the Bay City Rollers before an audience of octogenerians. :O That will be perfect! :) Glad we could help.
+bushbaby 1 I guess it was done for the comedy effect since this appearance was part of an Ann Margret special. I'm sure there's got to be an interesting story behind it.
i dont know if there was really, a lot of british variety tv shows were filmed like this with a bit of a older audience, they whould just sort of give tockets away for a tv special and old people whould generally turn up. They might have been visiting thr tv studio on the day or something and were given tickets.
Why so many elderly people??? I thought maybe it was Bingo night at the nursing home and that's where B.C. Rollers played alot until the cameras pulled back. Then I realized it was a crypt
The hearing aid and the one who looks as if her dentures are about to fall out. Older people really did look old in those days. They are all probably in their 60s!

It was supposed to be The Temptations bit they pulled out.

No way any of these people are still alive but someone involved in the production might be.

Your granny rocked!
I actually went and rewatched it for that. Doug's grandma at 1:49
I also watched again to see your granny. Cool granny. 👍
The audience of OAPs is hilarious.
Doug Webb, as they say, "your parents were way cooler than you'll ever be".
In this case your grandparents.
Definitely one of the strangest videos I've ever seen..."ANN MARGARET" with the BAY CITY ROLLERS ...But i absolutely love it...TY YOU TUBE 👏👏👏
These people have been through WW1 and WW2 and they still rock
You forgot the Great Depression. Even more reason to have fun.
The granny knitting halfway through is probably the most punk rock thing I've ever seen!
God Bless her! We all forever young!!!!
Ain’t going to lie. It had me Lmao. Looked like she was speed knitting

Love the granny doing her crocheting 😂 and the one in purple dancing
This is my favorite video of BCR performing Saturday night. Loving it ❤🥰

Those old darlings were really grooving and it's a rare talent to be able to knit to a rock n roll beat!
I hope I'm rockin out like that when I'm 60!
Oh wait, I am 60....
Ah Soo sweet even the seniors love them.
THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO EVER IN THE WORLD EVER
It just might be!
Absolutely it is
Damn straight. These kids respect for these wonderful old woman just melts my heart
Just because you get old doesn't mean you can't rock.

I love the old lady knitting to the rhythm...lol...
3:00 - 3:04 btw, the lady, knitting in rhythm with the music ... now I have seen it all! :D
Ann-Margaret is such a good person and she never minded doing shows like this, she just loved to entertain, not sure if she is still entertaining today or not. I always like her.
She is an amazing lady.
Wow Elvis’s ex singing with The Bay City Rollers luv it ❤
Age is just a number. You go old folks !!!!
That audience was awesome
Just like Ann Margrock getting up on stage with the Way-Outs on that Flintstone's episode!
Love this video! Pure joy!
LOL!!!! The old lady knitting. OMGoodness.
How in the world did this band, the audience and Ann Margret all come together for this taping?
Why what’s the problem with it
@@elizabethrennick9407 agreed 👍
@@elizabethrennick9407 there’s no problem with it but how did it happen? It’s a very strange combination and I wonder how they got together also.
I was wondering the same thing.
Who? What? When? Where? Why?
Ann-Margret variety show
Things were rocking at the Senior Center on Saturday night!
I wish we could see the whole show, ❤
The whole tv special that this was taken from used to be on CZcams, unfortunately I am unable to find it.
Gosh I had forgotten how dang cute they all were
If I could million thumbs up this....I would!!!
This is awesome! I love all the old ladies up dancing. Also that one old dude with his arms all up in the air. I was a huge fan back in the day, and I still like their music. Thanks for the video.

Ann, what a beauty, 🥰
Les is so young & cute especially when he says welcome to the bay city rollers.
It seems to have cheered up the retirement village!!!
0:55 Reactions to Ann joining the band 😀
A lot of characters among this wonderful audience.

it was indeed, I just got back from England and caught a bit of a special about "terrible British TV of the 70s". This clip was featured.

Sleep well Les. RIP
Good clip, Wow they had senior fans
I don't remember this, but I do remember when Ann-Margrock performed with The Bay City Boulders
This is the greatest thing to watch stoned. Mind blowing. POOF!
It's like a fever dream!
Pure magic

from Japan
The audience later rocked out to Black Sabbath and Judiest Priest on this show.
All Class
Love the age demographic of the audience . They know how to have fun
Did I just see Rudolph Valentino in the audience...? These seniors know good music when they hear it.....ear horn or not! Happy to see they are enjoying themselves to a new kind of fun music!
No, Rudy died in the 1920's.
*The original BCR fans in the 21st century, ecstatic that the band Finally got back together!! :P
Even Eric?
Surely the audience is "The Good Old Days" footage ?? Bizarre...but i love this !
I never saw the second part it's awesome.
Where they in a old folks home, or what? Alan and shy, no way! nAn Margret blended in very well!
ロックンロールは人を幸せにするね

What's with the ear trumpet? Was this in the 1800s?
Paul F. Tompkins sent me here.
Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop How specifically? His breakdown of this must’ve been spectacular.
😂😂🥰
Where were they?? Was this a special event?
That crowd must the Swedish community of London to support Ann Margaret with the Bay City Rollers.
Hardcore grannies.
WHAT WAS SHE DOING WITH THEM ON THIS SHOW???
Why is the youngest person in the audience 84 ? Was this shot in a retirement home auditorium ?
+bushbaby 1 I guess it was done for the comedy effect since this appearance was part of an Ann Margret special. I'm sure there's got to be an interesting story behind it.

And shortly after this performance Ann and the Rollers dined on a feast of Soylent Green.
haha
ha
Were the roller fans
Was this before or after the Bingo ??
During .......?
Hands up if you thought Ann Margret took a shine to Alan and vice versa
Nice acting job by Alan playing shy. Ann looked stunning in this clip. I wonder what Alan thought about that little skit between he and Ann.
You gotta feel for the band...that's hell on earth..who booked that gig ??
Dunno who booked it...but it was sponsored by Depends.
@@SilentKnight43 Funny, but those people lived through WWI and WWII. They know things....
The only people the Bay City Rollers could get to come to hear them, and they're all half deaf.
Boy, these lads got the best tail in the land, huh.
Why so many elderly people??? I thought maybe it was Bingo night at the nursing home and that's where B.C. Rollers played alot until the cameras pulled back. Then I realized it was a crypt
The smell of pish is strong in this one !
She had a fling with elvis and now wants some roller action. Poor Alan she would have had him for breakfast lol
Where are they singing, a old folks home lol
Why was the audience old people?
It'll upset the f**k-all balance. Scottish accents. I wonder, if that's what Ann heard the first time he said "vocal balance."
The only thing better would be her in the chocolate bathtub in Tommy with the Rollers
The hearing aid and the one who looks as if her dentures are about to fall out. Older people really did look old in those days. They are all probably in their 60s!
How can she understand what they are saying?
Not hard Paul Morris,is that a cheap dig?
Why are they performing for seniors? LOL
a woman of her stature really DID NOT have to do this..............
No but she looked liked she was having a lot of fun and the Bay City Rollers were huge around the time this was filmed.
I'm so confused! Why a whole audience of grannies? And why Ann-Margret?
It was her tv special
Wonder if Elvis was watching this
That was horrible !
